  1. SNOW DAY NO SCHOOL Side note: the winds are like 60km, and I have a '58 Olds hubcap hung on the side door of my grandma's garage, and it has been known to fall off when windy, but surprisingly it's still hangin' there. Funny how it falls of with the slightest breeze but then when the 60km winds roll in it stays hung.
  2. Ok so my hopes were up waaaaaaaaaay to high; for this particular job fair. First off, the summer jobs we applied for weren't even there; I ran around for half an hour in disbelief looking for the MNR (Ministry of Natural Resources) stations but there weren't any. It was also extremely hecktic; the halls and exhibits were backed up the wazoo, and scootin' by people was insane (way too many people were obliviously standing around). BUT that being said I took advice from one of the profs and personally emailed one particular resume to the manager of the summer job I am most interested in, and the manager emailed back thanking me for sending it to him. I was hoping to put a face to the name at the job fair, but like I said, they weren't there, but at least I got my resume out front, (in order to apply we have to send it in on a website, which I did but I changed a couple things so I figured to keep up to date I better send it to the manager personally) so I am one step ahead (hopefully) of everyone else.
  3. That is very cool; love to see model conversions of our native cars πŸ‘
  4. Yeah it was pretty bad; I remember at first it felt like I just nicked it, but then when the blood came gushing out I realized I had maybe severed a small vein of some sort. But that particular finger is quite the trooper; I've burned it once after touching a hot screw- first second degree burn I had; wasn't fun, and back in 2021 I had actually cut it with the exacto blade in the same spot, doing basically the same thing, only it was a '65 Corvette and I was shaving burrs off the tires. That cut wasn't as bad as the most recent one. Oh and had it caught in doors a few times also.
  5. Boy oh boy I cringed when I read "sent my thumb into the blade". Did something relatively similar 2 years ago that had a worse end result. Was actually a model car related happening. Was working on a glue bomb 1966 Shelby Mustang, and the tailights had been glued in with globs of glue by the previous owner, so I figured i'd use the exacto to pop them out. Held the car upside down on the table, with my left pointer finger around the rear edge of the car, and was trying to jam the exacto blade underneath the tailight with my other hand. Suddenly it popped off but the blade ran about maybe half a centimetre into my finger, maybe a little deeper. It would not stop bleeding at all, no matter what, until about 9-10pm (cut it around 6pm) it slowed down enough so I could use liquid stitch to seal it, and begin the month long healing process that yeilded a scar which still remains to this day.
  6. Similar thing my dad had; severe pain on and off; eventually too unbearable went to the hospital and had his gall bladder removed.
  7. Those are pretty wild looking cars; I know I have a hotwheels of the silver one in the background of the last photo.
  8. I have quite a few of the space age cars so I though why not make a reference thread with just these types of cars. Feel free to add same era cars you've sighted. 1956-1962 is the rough time period.
  9. Another Tuesday off, sun's coming to say hi, and it is supposed to be the sunniest day this week. Job fair tomorrow regarding our summer jobs, so we apparently have to "sell ourselves" to the potential employers. My best shirt is fresh from the wash, business cards made out, haircut last Saturday, shaved the beard (there wasn't much of one) but the 'stache is stayin'. A bit on edge about tomorrow as it is out of our comfort zones but I'll be competing for these jobs with my closest of friends so I have to make sure I come out on top.
  10. Was it like a dizzy spell? Had a scare like that myself about 2-3 years ago. Woke up at 6am on a Saturday, walked into the bathroom to freshen up, whatever; wahsed my hands, dryed them, but then turned around to flick the light switch off and all of a sudden I got extremely dizzy; and then went totally blind while the lights were on and my eyes were open but I couldn't see a thing. I kept like kinda falling but not quite; trying to stay standing I kept hitting my head on the bathroom door and the mirror, which awoke the parental units, my mom screaming at the sight. The rest was a little vague but I remember coming to back in bed and shortly thereafter the pair of paramedics came in and figured I got up too fast and the blood just pools in the heart and makes one dizzy. Went to the Doc later that day and he said just before I get up in the morning to sit up and wait a few before walking off. Never had the feeling since. I feel like I'm too young for sketchy stuff like that to happen, but apparently it's a teenage boy thing.
  11. That's somthin' else, wicked '60s style Rod.
  12. I dig it, man; love station wagon kits
