What Did You See In Your Yard Today?
johnyrotten replied to Tim W. SoCal's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
Got home to be greeted by the whole herd. I tried to "line up both pictures, there's 7-8 of them that hang around. -
That's not "a" turbo. That's "THE" turbo. Massive. Of course both of those aircraft mean business.

That car pulls real hard past half track. Wakes up around the 330', all business after that.

Strip it and start over. That's your best chance for success, spot repair you can't guarantee you got all the contamination off, and you have to try and make everything match. More work in the long run, if even possible. -
Anyone bold enough to steal, or attempt for that matter, deserves EVERYTHING they receive if caught. My view is if not yours, and you didn't work for it, HANDS OFF. If you got thieves hanging around, I hope it's taken care of swiftly.

That's a wild looking ride, fantastic woodgrain. The staining from the chimney is a great touch. Very well done.

I was referring to 1:1 projects with the reducer, I see how my wording could lead to confusion. Absolutely some plastics wouldn't tolerate "hot" chemicals. Just pointing out things I've seen, as I have no formal training or professional experience as a painter or bodyman, just a lot of trial and error, self education and questions asked. I always pay attention to threads like this,as there are many tips and tricks passed along. -
Absolutely awesome looking. 👍👍

Everyone I've ever known who is a painter does the same with reducer. Being observant, you pick up tons of little tricks of the trade. Good tip on the rubbing alcohol, I use isopropyl only. I never thought of additives in it. -
What did you see on the road today?

It doesn't look "bad", the 'Bird just looks wrong on a truck, and the gold tow ball, really. Look close, even the hitch is gold. And it's probably a v6. -

What soap did you use, there may have been some mold release left on the surface. That's my thought. Also, how heavy/ light were the coats, it may not have had enough time in-between coats, that leads to problems as well. Did you scuff or sand the surface before primer. I've learned 90% of a good paint job is what's under it. The preparation. -
Thanks. I do, and will. My father (step father, actually) was and is the reason I'm the person I am today. Much like you said, we were inseparable, that really struck a cord with me. I still speak of him often, and smile doing so.

I lost my father 19 years ago, and mom's not doing so well, my condolences to you. Very commendable you taking care of him, and more so in keeping him in your thoughts. Sorry for your loss.

Great looking build, good job all around. I like the body color, and the fact it's in the engine compartment, that's how mopar's are supposed to be(pet peeve of mine).

Very cool car, not many people get a second chance of ownership with something like this. 6.14 gear, 6000 plus rpm. That's a buzz saw of a 265. He did his homework searching out the lightest model, too. To me, these classes are the most interesting and fun to watch, and research about. lots of fine tuning and tweeking to keep things right on that ragged edge. And the fact he beat Glidden, that's 2 wins in one.

I think you're correct, I zoomed in and that looks like a handicap plate.
