Ollie's strike again

Great finds, nothing of the sort here around Albany NY. One trailer, and military models only. -
Looks killer so far, I like the red wheel center idea. Try painting up some styrene disc or paper for that matter, and seeing how you like it without actually painting them.

I built a new crossmember/spring mount and leaf spring for the 34 I'm working on. Nothing like taking a dremel to finished work. After some measurements, drawing and surgery the truck has a quick change rear. Here's a mockup of the spring, trying to get the arch and length correct. Also, don't attach things with adhesive strips if you can use screws. Lapse in judgment led to this:

Looking good. 👍.

I just want to say thank you. I had a small issue with a recent order, and everything was taken care of super fast. Top notch products, and service. I'll be leaving a great review on your site, just wanted to put this out here on the forum as well. Thank you again.👍

Keeping the work area is a big bonus, as soon as I find myself working in 1sqft, time for a reset. You spend more time searching for things in the clutter than actually building, at least I do. This box top trick has been helping me, not cause I'm building it to match the box, but as a reminder of what it was.

Good to hear that you both got some answers to what's going on, and a bit of good news. Awesome to hear. Good luck at the Gastro. Appointment, hopefully more good news is on the way.

Because I'm a welder/fabricator by trade, you can see how this would interest me. Plus, it's always rewarding to learn a new skill or technique. I'm looking at this in the same way one would look at the way body shops have gone from using filler and paint to paint less dent removal or how we switched from lead to fill seams to polyester fillers. Old school vs new. 👍

Oem would be a good choice, if they're available, varying quality with some aftermarket/ reman. Parts. Both c.v. Axles in my wife's jetta were replaced, I pulled them from a super low mileage car at a pull-your-part. Oem VW anything tends to be expensive. On another note, 109 thousand miles on an 87, that things a creampuff. Probably the lowest mileage one left.👍

This built is looking great, despite it fighting you. Looking forward to seeing what's next, and nice tip about the motor windings. Miles of wire on those.

Thanks for the reply, I find the technique really interesting.

Awesome work Greg. Are you using a dedicated soldering station, with temperature control or an old school cheap electric soldering iron?

Johnny Lightning Packaging mistake

That's a new one -
Ford and pretty much any other automotive manufacturer wants the repair side of their product as well, more money for them. Make a product specialized enough that most won't attempt a repair, and get them on the back end as well. Ford seems to do this often. Look at the triton spark plug fiasco. Hats off to this guy for doing actual diagnostic work, and finding a perfect work around. That guy is an actual mechanic, not a parts changer.

Told you so (years ago)...

Already order one up. I've been putting funds aside to eliminate the dod and afm. I really don't want to nuke this engine. -

Yes, and 4wd so dropping the pan means dropping the front diff. All for a 5 dollar o-ring.
