100% correct. I've worked trades my entire working "career"(auto/industrial maintenance, ironwork/welder) there's a passion you need to become successful in these lines of work. I've witnessed TONS of people, a few with actual talent, but no drive or motivation to actually put the time and work in and become successful. Seems they want quick money, "fame" or whatever.

A while back another channel had him look over a 69 daytona, the car was "legit" but had been re-bodied due to a collision, and modified. Guy knows his stuff, and knows when to pull the plug and cut your losses.

My wife grabbed a bunch of these, hobby lobby I believe. Oil based, with a mixing ball inside.

That's probably the cost for a quarter skin replacement. 2/3 of the bed of my truck was replaced a few months ago, oem panel and tailgate ect, almost 9 grand for that repair. Seems about right.

Never been a fan of social media, never had a Facebook. I've always viewed it as the high school lunch room gossip table. From my late teens and even to today, I still hear people moan and gripe over what so and so said on Facebook, I tend to immediately tune out the rest of the conversation. I guess some dont mature. Don't get me wrong, beautiful idea being able to keep touch with people, advertise business and such, but like a lot of great ideas, horribly misused and abused in practice. Good for you "cutting it loose".

Thanks, the floor on this kit was separate, made it easy. All the real work is on the firewall for engine clearance and the bed. And trimming the seat, had to remove almost a quarter of an inch.

Started on the interior last night. I'm looking to have this look old, ratty but not raggedy, if that makes sense. Wrapped the seats and a quick half thinned coat of paint. Started making up some door panels, did the same. The door panels will have a bit of detail, nothing crazy as these trucks were simple. Maybe a pull strap or length of chain, I spotted some that may look correct. Going to build some window cranks, and thinking about putting a vw beetle dash in place of the stock one. I fit one up, it can be made to work, but the one I have isn't any good, poor detail and such.

In that case, Probably not worth diving into unless you've got an electronics background, I've managed some smaller repairs on things( my older vw's like to "eat" blower motor speed controls, 40 cent thermistor). Hopefully you find a replacement or figure out the issue. Good luck

Just a thought, but with small equipment such as that, motors and switches often fail. Not sure of your skill-set, but switches are easy to test, and most small motors such as that saw are d.c. and also easy to test. Usually there is no crazy electronics in them, unless they have a speed control. A simply multi-meter is all that's needed, and of course the know-how. I tend to repair rather than replace when I am able, seems quality has taken a back seat with things.

That's the generation before the few I've owned, still pretty neat trucks. My friends and I had one as a "field car" as kids. We beat that thing so badly. The truck took the beatings,till it didn't. The pic of your father's brings back some memories.

Started this before I joined the forum. Heavily z'd frame and channel job. A recent order from iceman included the frenzel, sorta got interested in this one again. Not sure how ratty I want to make it, bit the plan doesn't include pretty. More like a couple kids with tools got their hands on grampa's old truck.

Very true, even the cnc plasma table I run at work is controlled with an aftermarket x-box style controller.

I wonder if something such as tissue paper coated with thinned white glue would work as a substitute for the heat shrink, might be more work than it's worth. Or a few wraps of bmf or something similar?

My wife used this for a phone charger repair, found it on reddit. Pen spring and heat shrink. Looks convincing

I ran into the same issue with the hoses, I ended up having to file the angles on the ends to better match the engine side. This is looking beautiful.

I like the idea, keep it simple, parts "readily" available. People around me used them for 4 cylinder dirt track cars, they seemed to figure out how to get them competitive. I remember Skip Barbers driving school had a fleet of them for training.
