Mercedes Benz 300 SL Roadster (Italeri) AND Gullwing (Tamiya)
Cosmic D replied to Greasefinger's topic in Model Cars
I've had the Tamiya kit on my ready to go shelf but just can't settle on the color - I will use yours as the gold standard to build to.- 29 replies

Beautiful build - I didn't switch to a larger scale until I was 70 - hang in there.

Whew - is there any detail you didn't add? LOVE the subject.

Great to see this unusual old kit so nicely built instead of sitting on a shelf. Thanks for sharing it.

The wheels and tires are just perfect for a vintage style rod like this - really nice work.
-
This whole concept seems well planned and executed - that's how truly great models are built.
-
A really sharp sleeper - they'll never see you coming - and the interior looks sweet.
-
Thank for that - best wishes.

Nice work on opening those doors - and I love the old school wheels and tires - this is a classic rod.

Thanks for showing us a too seldom seen subject - nice rebuild really paid off.
-
Love those wheels and tires - an overall exceptional build..
-
Very nice clean stock build - as for the seats - whatever - it doesn't distract from the whole look.
-
Beautiful piece of maple under there, by the way.

What a blast - I love it. Not a flaw to be seen.

I love working in 1/16 and I've never seen a wooden kit in this scale, let alone a good looking one. Do you think its a one off custom build or does it appear to have been from a kit?

I can endorse Spooker - I've had good luck with the freezer technique - mineral spirits, paint thinner and denatured alcohol might help. Your color choices sound great. I think a tasteful subdued scheme would show off the finished vehicle and don't worry about broken pieces - as already stated before it can be fixed with plastic stock and patience. Best of luck and I would look forward to seeing the finished project.

That is some sweet kit bashing - as Ragtop Man said above - this is what model building is about. First class work.

The paint doesn't look weird to me and the color is super. Really sharp looker.
-
Very nice clean and tasteful build- great paint - you did it proud.

So nice to see these built stock and so well done - the three display beautifully and should aways be kept together.

Trick or sweet!
