  1. Anthony, as a former police officer, I know what you mean about "no match for a gun". Never took a punch during my service but was fired upon...during an on-going B&E...in a factory with acid vats all around us...and basically in the dark. All the self defense training I'd had over the years wasn't going to do me much good in that situation. What did I do? ....I kept my dang head down!!! I think the most common comment I've heard from folks like yourself over the years is one concerning restraint when faced with a challenging situation on the street. That is when you have earned far more than your black belt title. A time for everything, eh, my friend? Glad to see you doing so well on the model scene and sharing with us the pics of your builds. Happy building!
  2. Mr. Biggs..I have to say that Chevy II of yours in the Portfolio article is one sweet build. You nailed it with the color too!! Ah...........BTW....after reading your bio. I'd like to make sure you're on MY side of the line. Congrats on your martial arts endeavors!!
  3. Thanks, Gregg, but it would be as well for me to pick up the issue at the LHS...don't want to give the USPS a SECOND opportunity to mangle a great issue! Seriously though, as my subscription is non-refundable (not a problem with me) can the remainder of my subscription be transfered to a VA hospital close to the Denver area (short USPS transit) for the guys/gals to read? I'd still pick up the mags here locally at the hobby shop. It's a great model magazine and I'd like to have my copies intact so I can pass them on when I'm gone. Never did like to pass on ripped up magazines to anyone...
  4. Say Kevin...what say we see what you can do with the new Revell '32 Sedan... !!!
  5. Kevin...there ain't nothing you're going to do that's going to shock us anymore.. ...'cept maybe build an plane, or ship, or train or maybe even one of those figure type models......... BUILD ON!!
  6. Got my new issue today...second one in my new subscription...IT WAS ALL TORN UP AND MANGLED ON THE OUTSIDE....AGAIN!!! But man were the inside pics COOL! You folks that got your builds in the mag did a super nice job (even liked the "beater" ). Some of those paint jobs were incredible!! Going to pick up ANOTHER copy at the LHS to put in my collection...it's that good.
  7. WAY TO GO, KEVIN!!! Love the trailer idea with the oldie coach lights! Real nice combo there, son. Keep up the great work and let us see more of what you're working on. Joe
  8. As another thought to garage sales: I often ask the folks putting on the sale if they have any models..most say no but some have brought out some nice "gems" for me. One elderly lady gave me a big 'ole box of her late husbands models because she didn't know what to do with them and hadn't thought about putting them out in the sale. It pays to ask nicely as I once scored three nice Tamiya kits for $3.00 each and they were brand new! Also, ask the yard/garage shoppers if they have seen any models because that can lead you in the right direction if you're out looking. With today's model prices it can't hurt to ask!
  9. Thanks, Gregg. I'll be patient on this end. Say...four screws on the x-ray...what happened there?
  10. Went to the LHS Saturday with my wife and picked up $50 worth of Tamiya Acrylics, decal solutions, and some plastic for scratchbuilding. And she was still smiling when we walked out...
  11. Hi, Kevin. You're on the right track now and I hope you will come back and share in the good parts of modeling. Take the time to breath deeply of the fresh air when you go "fishing". I was like you when I was 19 and it took awhile but I have learned that friendships work a whole lot better than carrying that "chip" around. You've made a BIG step in realizing you created a problem and that you have to work it out. Come on back and make us proud of you! If I can help...you know where I am. Joe
  12. Welcome, Chris! After being away from the hobby for 30 years, what kit caught your eye and pulled you back into building?
  13. How about Donk'in a YUGO...or a CHEVETT? Just don't mess with my 1962 Chevy Impala SS (but I just KNOW you will )!
  14. Ah.....Gregg..........can I.......ah......can I have one of those Hula girls instead.... instead of an 'ole name badge...can I?
  15. ...Dirk thinking of leaving... Oh, NO!!!!!!! Here we go again.......
  16. Luis, you did your fellow modelers, the ones that actually cared enough to help with what was thought to be a real problem for you, a huge disservice. And I was one of them. Too bad you look upon the help and friendship of others so cheaply.
  17. Picked up Revell's '69 Camaro Yenko/SC 427 Coupe.
  18. Bill Coulter, Pat Covert and Terry Jessee get my votes. Rick, perhaps you will give some thought to putting together a "Modeling Hero's" story in book form? Would make a wonderful addition to any modeler's library and bring to light names, faces and accomplishments under one cover.
  19. With the Hula girls....
  20. What be a Menehune...
  21. George...you KNOW how it is with those "little pineapple guys" over there on the island...What with all that glorious sunshine, and those Hula girl types on the sandy beaches, and those tall pineapple drink thingies, and coconuts just waiting to be opened, and driving those new wheels around...and Hula girls...and Hula girls...well, you DO know how it is...
  22. Not much more that I can add to the above Noel except to say that you should be feeling good about the positive comments and friendship displayed here in FAVOR of your not giving up the DONK and Lowrider modeling that you like. I would think the above thoughts would far outway anything negative from the two who aren't mature enough to let you enjoy what you do best. Build on my friend and let us see the results of modeling any subject YOU enjoy to model.
  23. Raul, I think you may be onto something there...little does he know the results of his sneaky ways. Soon he'll be HOOKED, and want to build models...and there will be many, many, trips to the LHS...and money will seem to "disappear" mysteriously from his wallet...and, Lord help him...he'll want to get his OWN MCM SUBSCRIPTION!! Hey, all is not lost though...while looking at the Jan. '08 cover, there on the Modified, was a sponser...Bert's Glass from Ionia, MI. Don't know Bert but I grew up in Ionia and graduated high school there in '68. Was neat to see that small town name on the cover of a big 'ole International type magazine. Go Bulldogs!!
  24. Just got my Jan '08 issue today by mail. Used to get MCM at the LHS. Started a subscription, waited for the first issue to arrive, and, when it did...the back of the magazine was ripped at the top and the bottom. GEEEEEEZ!!! Not too sure about this mail thing...
  25. Hey Luke'57 this is GOOD...real good! You need to talk to Gregg and get those pics in one place within a Model Cars issue. What say you gang?
