  1. VERY nice MGB! Two thumbs up!! 500 HP VEGA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ....And I thought my 1:1 '74 Vega was a hoot..... Joe
  2. You can almost hear that throaty rumble...nice project Bryce! Joe
  3. Thanks to all who answered so quickly with your assistance. Thanks, James, for letting me post the question and I hope the answers help you too. Joe
  4. Harry, I don't want to side-track this but I have a Canon PowerShot A95...what is the best setup to use for posting pictures of reasonable size and clarity? Quite frankly, one can have a nice camera and STILL not know what settings/how to post the pics correctly ! I hate it when I show the world how dumb I am at 59... Joe
  5. WOW...the word ambitious doesn't even come close...if you pull this one off you be one 'ell of a modeler!!!!! Joe
  6. Now that Christine model ROCKS!!! One of the best I've seen...great detail. Two thumbs up!! Joe
  7. Cool idea..stay with it! Joe
  8. Great project and color! Nice wheel and tire choice...reminds me of the '60's Joe
  9. Casey...here's the reason I'm excited about the re-issue of these kits...back when they came out I didn't have much "pocket change" at all and spent a lot of time looking at these kits on shelves but just couldn't afford them. Then along came "growing up" with girls, marriage, book learning, family-first responsibilities and, well,...I missed out on many of these cool kits that caught my eye "back when". For sure I'm not into every new/re-issue offering but I'd bet there are others out there that feel as I do and are real glad to see a particular model or two show up again in a new box and at a reasonable price. Let's not spoil the party for others just because a particular model offering isn't what we want. It appears to me that we have model companies that are bringing back the fun again and, with time, you just may see something that "rocks ya"! Joe
  10. Great models and display! Two thumbs up!! Always thought the Dick Landy drag cars looked just right with the paint scheme he chose. Joe
  11. As always, Terry, more "eye candy" to get us looking over our stash for even more projects to start....! Great models!! Joe
  12. Well, Mark, I'm sure glad to see the listings! It means this great hobby is STILL alive. If I buy 'em or not it's a hoot to look at the boxes again and remember some of the dreams we (I) had as a kid when I couldn't afford all the models that caught my eye. Bring 'em on and let's get to building something just for the fun of it! Joe
  13. WOW!!!!!!!!! Dropped in at Mega-Hobby and WHAT A HOOT!!! I'm going to be there awhile...like a kid turned loose in a hobby shop with this weeks allowance, paper delivery money, lawn mowing money, leaf raking money and snow shoveling money (we really did all those things "back when" in order to buy models, you know...) Anyhow, I GOTTA go check out some more cool "stuff" THANKS!! Joe
  14. Thanks, folks!! Fast getback with plenty of ideas...I'll be checking each of them out. As for Tower, I've ordered LOTS of RC items but never gave much thought to ordering plastic from them. They are a bit slow on carrying the new domestic offerings but the shipping time is, as you say, very quick. Gotta go now...sites to visit... Joe
  15. I'm getting ready to order some models via Internet shopping. I'd like to know where you modelers order your "stash" and why. Price, service, selection? As an example I've been looking at the new offerings at Model Roundup but have no idea on how they are to order from. Can you help me out with your sugestions? Thanks! Joe
  16. Thanks, Ron. NOW I have an excuse for the "bride of 40 years" as to "why" I need to order two of those re-isssued '62 Buicks Joe
  17. This is a great build thread! I, too, have a 1960 Buick (albeit Hardtop) that was/is a former glue bomb. When I got it the model was still in the original 1960 Buick 5560 Hard Top box that AMT Corporation put out when they were at 21535 Groesbeck Hwy in East Detroit, MI. The old 3in1 orange and green box. Have removed a ton of spray bomb paint that really etched some of the plastic and have been smoothing the body and lines and rescribing. It will have to be a Custom now that I've "lowered the fins" just a tad. The model had the engine, which was a real mess in itself and I managed to save it though I need to find the valve covers or suitable replacements. Where did you find the replacement door handles, wipers, etc.? Joe
  18. Keep safe, Clay! Our thoughts and prayers are with you and all the troops on duty. Andrea...perhaps you can post Clay's "keep in touch via snail mail" address to us for those who would like to donate/forward some model items for him. I sent a large number of models to Iraq some time ago via the VFW (they will box the items, do the paperwork and mail the package for you at no cost to you) and understand the troops really enjoyed the building time; we could do the same thing again . What do you say guys? Want to help a fellow modeler? Joe
  19. [that haughty actin guy from that OTHER mag!!! GOOD call Mr.Reporter!!!
  20. For me it was the Monogram LI'L COFFIN! Man was that a cool model. Also, AMT's '62 Buick kit and the AMT '32 Roadster. Joe
  21. After reading this entire thread I am absolutely amazed!!!!...no one seems sorry to read the Revell news... the news for what it REALLY is...GOOD FOR YOU!! Joe
  22. Hey, Bobby, my wife and I were down to Clarksburg, WV (she's from Lost Creek and we lived in the C'burg area for a number of years)) a couple of times this Fall and I stopped in at the LHS in Bridgeport to say hello each time. Very slow business and not a real good outlook on the future of that shop either as people just aren't shopping locally for hobby items anymore. I bought some plastic car kits and R/C items while in the shop each time but only saw one or two others in the shop at any one visit. It's the same way locally. Over the years I have witnessed many hobby shops closing the front door for any number of reasons. I know what you feel when you lose a great place to purchase hobby items. When you lose a good one it's like losing family. Check out the Bridgeport shop as he has kits and detail items in house; at least it's an option for you. Joe
  23. Hey George, I just got my NEW '60 Ford Starliner kit from John this morning!! Helped him a bit with the '49 Ford kit and he sent the '60 kit my way. THANKS JOHN!!!!! This has to be one of the best looking kit box layouts I have seen in a looooong time. Crisp art, great color choices, and I really like the idea of the parts overview layout on the bottom of the box; what a great idea. If this is any idea of what to expect from John and the crew in the future we are in for some mighty fun times! Joe
  24. I use both Devcon and ZAP brands of epoxy. Using the separate bottles I sqeeze an applicable amount of each part (A & B ) onto a small paper plate, mix well with a coffee stick or toothpick and apply. Easy does it as epoxy can spread quite a ways. Epoxy can also be heated with a heat gun whereby it becomes thin like water, and "painted" onto large areas (I use this method all the time to fuel proof balsa or plywood areas on my R/C planes). Have plenty of ventilation when doing this. Epoxy can be cleaned up with Isopropyl Alcohol.
  25. Welcome, Ed! Have fun and don't be bashful about questions and having a good time. ...eh, 62SS....I had one of those in 1:1 scale in the sixties. Was Ermine White with the red bucket/consol interior. Always loved that style and have kicked myself in the behind me area many times for selling that great car! (WHY did I DO that..... ?) Happy building! Joe
