Yeah, I forgot to give John his props. I remember when he first posted his work on this. That's what got me interested in getting one. I PM'd John who told me Carbon Copy would be selling them. It shows what an important marketing tool in our small world of car modeling these boards are. Anyway, Mr. Goshke did a great job. I also like the notes in his instructions for an alternate (rectangular) rear window - nice touch. Certainly, John's instruction sheet should be a good example for what can be provided. Like so many modelers, I think Norm Veber is the "gold standard" when it comes to quality and customer support. My only gripe is that he has resisted cataloging his awesome array of parts on a website - he says he's already heavily backlogged and fears the expansion in business it would bring. He's right, of course. Anytime people see what he has to offer they order some. So it's a business decision I have to respect. But it's taken some real detective work to figure out what he's got, often including wonderful things not listed in his print catalog. Good luck on your venture. You're off to a great start. I'm sure the "jungle telegraph" is already getting the word out on Carbon Copy Resin!

Just a quick note to say that I got the up top and chopped windshield for the Revell '32 Ford Roadster last week, promptly after Ariel sent me an e-mail that it was ready! Very Nice!!! And it features the best, most detailed instructions for preparation and installation I have ever had the pleasure of receiving, complete with photos, templates and ideas for variations. Carbon Copy Resin promises to be among the best resin houses out there, with fresh and original ideas for exciting, innovative, and desirable items. Two big thumbs up! Thanx Ariel! PS: This makes me want to see the website up and running even more than before!

Very nice indeed. I really like the intake nacel, a nice touch well blended into the original bodywork. All in all, terrific idea beautifully executed.

The Tube Rat is nearing completion. Left to do is the exhaust system (a key visual element of this build), installing the seats and steering wheel, detailing the steering system and suspension, some final plumbing, rigging up a lighting system, and final assembly. The front wheels are American Racing 12 Spokes from Competition Resins finished in Testors Metallizer Magnesium. The rear tires and wheels are of unknown origin supplied by CalSurplus. The rear wheels were stripped and refinished in Metallizer Aluminum Plate with Magnesium centers and chrome detailing. The tank is a resin piece from The Parts Box in Australia, finished in Metallizer Aluminum Plate with a light black wash to tone it down. (Click on picture for larger image) Thanx for lookin’.

The paint really brings out what an insane (yet successful) hybrid The Pig really is. Sort of a Pro Street/NASCAR/Group 5/Retro road racing special... With the broad white stripe and the metallic blue paint that rounded back end framed by the little air dam looks very Cobra Daytona-esque, dontcha think? Gotta love it...

It will be interesting to see you apply your touch to such a seemingly basic model. Presumably Bosco's has their standards to which you are building. How much will this effect what you plan on doing?

This one got a little upstaged by the Todt CF FXX you just completed. I wondered what happened to it... Anyway, it's a great result. In some ways I like it better than the FXX; maybe not as high tech and flashy but all that cast magnesium and aluminum has so much soul! And the wondeful seat textures really add to the detail and impact. Superb. Despite your reservations on the fit and quality of such an expensive kit, you have prevailed!

You got that right!!!! I can't wait! This has got to be one of my favorite lonnnnngggg term W.I.P.s.

Stunning! Is it the effect of Carbon Fiber which makes this come off as one of your best builds ever? In any case, it's a masterpiece!

60's styled 2005 "RETRO-VETTE" COUPE

So let me get this right... This isn't one of the contest builds! BTW, this absolutely needs to be a resin transkit when you're done!!!!! -
AMT 34 Ford Ratty Pickup

Very nice work and a great looking ride. Beautifully simple and clean construction on the floor, firewall and transmission tunnel! How do you fab your tunnels, or do you cut them from existing kit floorpans? If I remember from some posts elsewhere, you cut your rails from styrene sheet. Do I remember correctly. If so, what do you use, what thickness and how do you cut and trim it, etc. I'm planning on designing some rails for projects like this. I've never been a fan of the z'd front of the frame and really like the curved upward slope of your rails. Thanx. -
Great looking chop and nicely executed. With opening doors this body can be a bit of a challenge.

60's styled 2005 "RETRO-VETTE" COUPE

You gotten the proportions, contours and surface development just so right that, based on this design, you would think that Chevy have been evolving the same basic design cues for 40 years! -
A beautiful sacrilege that can only exist in the mind and hands of a car modeler! Great build!

Looking radically good! The engines mods are super. Aren't those MCG 97's the bomb? I'm tackling some right now. You might want to share with us your experiences on hooking up the p/e linkages. The ban on profanity on the MCM board precludes me from doing the same*... but they sure are pretty carburetors none the less. *The instructions say the carburetors come pre-drilled, but in my case (I ordered three sets) it ain't true.

That's great to hear. I know I've been a real PITA PM-ing Ariel about the 32 Ford up top and windshield frame (and now the 37 Ford pick up - too cool!) so it's good to know that when they'll be ready I'll get the word. The tentative lineup for Carbon Copy Resins is terrific. So many great ideas that are sure to lead to some really neat builds.

It sure did come out pretty nice! The AMT '39-'40 sedan is one of my fave kits. The basic car is very stylish to my eyes and makes for a terrific hot rod build.

Just saw this guys show on Comedy Central

Very funny. He has a nice incisive but light touch. Accchhhhhmed could have been brutal and tasteless but he handles it/him very well. And the Walter mannequin is amazing. It doesn't hurt that Dunham is a heck of a ventriloquist either. -
Glad to see this one over here on the MCM board. As you said elsewhere, take 2 is better, with greater contrast between the panels and the thinner lines. You should show the pics of the nice interior work you're doing. Hey George, the French didn't do a bad job of understanding American film either... (But then rock 'n' roll was another matter...)

Got some color on the Tube Rat. I’ve tried two different paint jobs. The first was the originally planned purple color, using Model Master Panther Pink lacquer but I didn’t like it at all. I then decided to paint it a similar color to the original sketch. This is a blend of a Tamiya bright green and Testors Acryl Aircraft Carrier Green hand brushed over Testors Metallizer steel, then rubbed down with 800 grit sandpaper to dull it out and reveal patches of metal under the paint. The frame and interior are Metallizer Steel and the front suspension is Metallizer gunmetal. (Click on picture for larger image) Thanx for lookin’.

anyone know what make/year this car is??
Bernard Kron replied to mademan's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
This is an example of a short-lived fad in Japanese car design - limited production novelty microcars evocative of 50's era European cars. The Figaro was supposed to remind you of the Peugeot 403 Cabriolet (the Columbo car). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nissan_Figaro Another example is the Nissan Scargo (get it?) inspired by the Citroen 2CV: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nissan_S-Cargo -
Beautiful builds, beautiful pics - they almost look retouched. Is the light box entirely black to get that gorgeous floating look?

Oh boy, here we go! Last year's 32 coupe was a fave of mine. Glad you're back!
