in regards to the paint wicking behind the tape try shooting some clear over the tape to prevent that and make sure to push the tape down really good . the painters tape that has the orange label is the one you want . your builds are lookin good but why is there an axe in the back seat? maybe there should be a hook hanging from the door handle too. in closing I think it is great that you are building with your son, they can be really inspiring as they rarely think inside the box!

that is sweet is it a resin kit or did you do that side trim yourself? also is there a photetch set for this?again that is totally sweet !

for the record I would also like to see more kits of current or at least popular trucks that early bronco seems like a no brainer.and the foreign trucks also seem like a good Idea . but man it sure would be sweet to have some nicely done off road parts .

there is alot of stuff at michaels that can be used to scratch build stuff but you didn't say what you want to scratch build .if your grandparents are in st louis there ought to be a hobby store there which is probably going to be where you would find the plastic rods and tube ,strips and sheets .for those having a bunch of different sizes is preferable.if you are just starting out you can give glazing putty a try available at the auto parts store.when you get into major body work try out some two part catalyzing putty the kind with the blue catalyst not the red.back to michaels they have various sizes of wire in the floral dept . in the jewelery isle ther are some pliers used for bending and shaping wire (which is also in this isle but the floral stuff is much cheaper)you can also find metal foil and wire mesh ,gold leafing supplies, clay, clay tools.... dude there is just so much out there you just need to figure out what you want to build then look for the items needed to complete the task.scratch building is just a matter of breaking the whole into basic parts that can be combined. hope this is helpful also try reading through the tips section for more detailed techniques.

great advice so far, however, I would also recommend using the testors lacquer paint instead of the enamel. it goes on so much better and dries really fast .

for the hi lux wheels you could try some of the fine off road wheels from so real concepts.they are not stock but they sure are cool.as for the clear parts try making your own windows by placing a piece of tape across the window opening and tracing the opening then carefully remove tape and place on a piece of clear plastic and cut out slightly larger than the line you traced you may have to trim a little to get the fit just right start with the rear window then the sides and that should give enough practice to attempt the windsheild. as for headlight covers and tail lights im not sure .good luck and look forward to seeing your builds.

well just hang in there perserverence is important and it looks like it was turning out very nice . and definitely get the purple stuff so you don't have to sand so much especially when the paint is so fresh.keep up the good work.

looks interesting ,I would like to see any progress you make on this one,however given the slow pace this one is taking I don't think my eyesight will make it to the year 2085.

The entire thing is wonderfully done I especially like the grille and the floor boards .great weathering.
