How Out-of-box is OOBS?
MR BIGGS replied to gowjobs's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
So then out of box should mean out of box only. That wont fly it's a catch 22 then. No glue, no paint, no BMF no nothing if they want to get technical. So they should call it OOB snap kit. No glue it will snap together, no decals only stickers, no paint body molded in color now that’s OOB to me. If it were up to me I would eliminate OOB category in all. And just call it factory stock. -

How Out-of-box is OOBS?

I don't know what the rules are, but to me OOB means to make the car just like a 1:1 would be straight out of the show room. So I would add flocking, all engine wires and hose's, and BMF. -
Throw all that germen junk away keep the whole front clip and fenders, lights, frame and a few small goodies and add them to the front of a 32 ford 3 window coupe,,,, chopped

They did them in brown for us, I never liked the red plastic cause it always bleeded throug most primers and clear. second they where not going to make them anymore, so we had to put in a real big order for them to pop out 5,000 of them. just like the olds cutless they are doing a 3,000 piece order for us in the lowrider edition. They wanted to bring out the Donk version, but no way would I let that happen. They give us one year of receiving our kit's to sell them before they can put out their own. -
See you there.

I was going to spend a few grand on the pacage deal from Sherline, but one of my buddys who has been doing cnc told me about this one. he say's they are both the same except the price is a few hundred dollars cheaper. Things to look for when buying a hobby lathe. In my opion the lathe that Micro Marks sell is the best for the money. The one sold at Harbor Freight sells is about 20% cheaper and 100% shittier . The one Shoreline sells is nice put over priced and small. You could get the Lathe and mill from Micro Marks along with tooling for less. You can thread on the Micro Mark and it has the longest bed and metal geared head, most of the other lathes have plastic gears. The things to look for is if the lathe has a compound , so you can cut tapers . Also check the back lash in the cross slide , saddle, and compound leadscrews. I have used a few of the products Micro Marks sells and have been pleased with them. Check out this web sight to compare lathes. http://www.mini-lathe.com/

The way things are going with money now a day's anything is possable, Thank god we got money. Today my partner just called me from his trip to the toy convention in NY and told me we got our wish from Revell. They are going to let us have a 3,000 kit special edition run on the 1986 cutlass supreme. And the best part is they will be a lowrider version not the donk. They give us 1 year before they can release it them selves. -

HAHAHAHAHA. You should of told them you where a edjewmacadid hispanic, or I no spica Inglesh) Then you would of got away with it. -
I am not taking any major build this year just a few basic builds. I am saving it for the East Coast, where they appreciate a real model builder’s talent and hard work. It’s sad that it has come to this. Some people ask me why am I going back after the stunt they pulled on me last year. I do it for the love of the hobby, and cause I got 10 other friends who want to go. It would not be fair to them for me not to go, then I would just be selfish. But I will be there to see some old friends and meet some new ones.

AMAZING TALENT ON THIS FORUM
MR BIGGS replied to E St. Kruiser50's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Words spoken like a true champ Dave. That's exactly how I feel. And thank you George for looking at me as one of you modeling Heroes. That is the biggest complement someone could give another person. I just love doing what I do mi Amigo. I never have a problem disclosing what I do and how it's done. If someone asks how I did it I never have a problem telling them or even showing them how it was done. I have a stable of future builders under my wing, some old and some young, but are all being taught what I know and have learned from my 30+ years of building. The only requirements they must have are to want to learn more and have a love for the hobby. -

I do agree with you 99GT. the rims are ######. I usually toss them out anyway and replace them with the Pegasus 1109's. Other then that it’s a nice kit. We got all three 61 Impalas in. the 61 Impala convertible, 61 Impala H/T 409 and the Don Nicholson version. Steve if they are going to put them out they have to wait till the end of the year or next year to do so, we got a special run and got to be able to sell some of ours first. We are also a world wide distributer too So if you see some out there, they probably came from us. -

Just got them in yesterday. We will be the only one's carring them, besides a few other hobby stores we sell to. We had to pay some good money for a special run of them.
