This is an Arii Cadillac I painted Tamiya TS-25 pink. A very enjoyable & different model to build. Other than a very fragile windshield frame that I broke into three pieces & had to put back together the best I could, everything went together easily without any fitting problems. I highly recommend this kit if you like something you don't see at the LHS very often.

I do have the rear script chromed, it just doesn't show it very good in these pictures.

I've had this model laying around for over 8 years & finally decided to build it. The kit comes with PE hood hinges & the Bonneville emblem on the grill. The hinges are very fragile & have to be put together. They bent & broke the first time I closed the hood.

Bench Rage! Have you ever lost it?
forthlin replied to Chillyb1's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Only once & I wiped out close to 100 finished models. In late '06 I was put in the Hospital for a stent & lost 3 weeks of work. No pay, of course & we got behind in our house payment. The bank started foreclosure on us & I was so upset thinking we'd be in a homeless shelter I busted them all & threw them in the trash. My Wife knew everything would work out & told me I'd regret it. She was right, everything worked out, the house was saved & I still regret doing such a stupid thing. I tried to salvage what I could, but was able to repair only 3 of those models. I still find pieces of model parts in the yard. -
My Mom found these at a yard sale for $2.50 each. The boxes are messed up in places, but nothing got hurt. The standard nonpainted model is still in it's plastic wrap.

Painting red Dakota white

I'll be watching with my fingers crossed. I don't want a pink truck. -
Painting red Dakota white
forthlin replied to forthlin's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I got the Duplicolor primer-sealer charlie8575 suggested & tried it on the tailgate. Everything went on great. I put the duplicolor on then followed that with the white primer. I let it sit overnight, lightly sanded it & put the classic white on. There's no sign of pink, just white. The body & bed come next. I'll post more pictures after it's painted. Thanks for the help. -
I've got the Lindberg Dodge Dakota & want to paint it white like my '99 Dakota. Unfortunately the body's molded in red. I've got Model Masters one coat lacquer system white primer & classic white to put over the primer. Will I come out with a pink truck or will this work?

Dynamic 88 conv. 2. 1956 Mercury Monterey 3. 1966 Buick Electra 225 conv 4. 1973 Pontiac Grand Am 5. 1977 Datsun B-210 6. 1990 Ford Ranger 7. 1967 Olds. Delta 88 conv. 8. 1962 Olds. Starfire conv.

I'm building a model I've had around 8-10 years & when I put one of the decals in water it comes off in pieces. I tried Microscales liquid decal film & that made no difference. Is it okay to try & spray a coat of gloss or dull clearcoat over the decal film to see if that helps? If so, should it be lacquer or enamel? I'd really like to save the rest of the decal sheet if possible.

My Mom owned one of these back in the early 70's. Definetely not as cool as this one though. Love that color combo.

scrap yard oddities
forthlin replied to forthlin's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Right you are. That is a '69 coronet. Nice body & interior, no drive train. This junkyard sets out in the middle of nowhere. He's got lots of old cars & his prices are fantastic. Heres a few more in this yard. -

The owner of the scrap yard told me the guy who scrapped them used them as crude test mules to try & get a patent for the interior box & cage design. Supposedly, in an accident the independent interior box just floats around & you don't get hurt. -

They've both got current plates & one of the workers at the yard said they were driven in. -
Went to the junkyard the other day & found these two strange looking vehicles.

Trumpeters '60 Bonneville. I bought this when it first came out in the late 90's & it's still waiting to be built . My Mom drove one of these back in the mid 60's & I wanted to build it as a duplicate. Every time I break it out to start it I worry I'll screw it up so back on the shelf it goes for another time.
