  1. I asked the yard if they wanted to sell it several years ago & they said no.
  2. This '56 Ford has been setting up there for around 10 years & until recently it didn't have a back window. It was supposed to have been driven in & scrapped about 15 years ago & hasn't been started since. Somebody bought the back window about 12 or so years ago when it was in the yard so you can imagine what the interior & floorboards must look like after setting that long without a window. Up close the body looks to be in excellent shape. Why would someone even think of junking this? And why leave it up there to sit & slowly rot away?
  3. I appreciate the offer Dennis, but I found another one. I haven't got a lot done, but I did get the roof cut & the body primed & painted. I decided on coral & white.
  4. This is my next victim. I'm going to paint it 50's aqua & white. Take notice of the interior tub rear shelf. That Isn't broke It was molded that way. I'm sending Round 2 a parts replacement form & hoping for the best as old as the kit is. The instrument panel decals I got from best model parts on ebay. They're priced right, well made & look a whole lot better than paint.
  5. No pictures but I saw a gorgeous '67 GTO convertible drive by my job this morning.
  6. Eddie's done. I took some cat litter & dirt mixed together for the base to give It a gravel road look. I used an old necklace my wife gave me for the anchor chain. A real blast from the past to build.
  7. Other than a little touchup Eddie's done. I'm using this piece of wood paneling for a base. I'm not sure what I'll line it with yet.
  8. The '59 Desoto was recently pulled out of a woods where it's been setting longer than the 31 years I've lived here. Not sure what they're doing with it. The Henry J has been setting at an auto repair for 20 some years. The '76 Jag is at a car lot. No engine or trans. & they want $1000.00.
  9. How about Harry Baals. He was the Mayor of Ft. Wayne, In. during the early 1900's. And yes, his name is pronounced balls.
  10. I'm not getting a lot of build time with warm weather here. I painted the body ice blue over a silver base.
  11. My first paid for car was a 1963 Olds. Dynamic 88 convertible I bought for $115.00 in June, 1971. This was my first conv. & I loved it. My girlfriend & I took that car to the drive-in theatre every Friday & Saturday night that summer, rain or shine. It had the neck snapping "slim jim" transmission that gave it's last snap in Feb. 1972. I had no idea how to change a trans back then & my Mom wouldn't let me keep a "junk" car in the driveway, so off to the scrap yard it went. I still have the keys & title to it & a few pictures.
  12. This is the second of four Weird oh's I'm building between cars.
  13. Here's my first attempt at a multi-piece body model. I'm surprised at how little flash & trimming there was for a 1956 mold. The rear end looks a little stubby compared to the 1:1 car but the rest looks pretty accurate for a 1/32. I never had any luck fitting a windshield to look decent so I gave up & it doesn't have one.
  14. I made a couple of these about 10 years ago & they work real good. The model can be flipped over to paint the bottom. I made them out of 1x2's. I ran a couple screws into one for a base & the 1x2 the models attached to is held on by a long bolt with a wingnut on the back to loosen & tighten so I can flip the model over. I used a couple of coat hangars to hold the model. I'll get some better pics as to how it's put together in the next couple days.
  15. Here it is almost done. I'm surprised there so few fitment problems for a 1956 mold. I've always wanted to build the '59 Ford retractable but the multi-piece body kept me from getting it. Now I'll have to get one since they're pretty easy to put together. Painting the figures, especially the face, has been a real challenge. I still have a ways to go with them. The biggest pain has been trying make a windshield & so far I haven't been to lucky.
  16. I finally got the body built, prepped, & painted. It was a lot easier putting that multi piece body together than I thought it would be. I used Testors orange with a black/white interior to match the car on the box. No pictures of the interior yet. They're masked & painted. The chassis is pretty much one piece except for the rear suspension & one piece front suspension. The engine is pretty simple with few parts but It doesn't look to bad. The windshield frame I painted gloss black & used Alclad chrome. This kit doesn't come with a windshield so what's the best thing to use to make one?
  17. Coming home from work a couple hours ago a truck ahead of me kicked up a stone & cracked my windshield. To add insult to injury this is a new $200.00 windshield I had put in 2 wks. & 2 days ago.
  18. I've been down with a miserable case of the flu for 3 days. Everybody has had it around me this winter & I figured by now I beat the odds. But no such luck.
  19. I bought this model 19 years ago without knowing it was a multi-piece body & a 1/32 & never had the courage to try to build it. I figured it's now or never after this many years.
  20. I've been using an old kitchen table in my bedroom for over 20 years. It's fairly big so I've got some room to work.
  21. We're getting up to 15" of snow by tonight with a low of 5 degrees & heavy winds. Spring can't get here soon enough.
  22. About 10 years ago before I wore glasses I was super gluing a part & got some in my eye. I had to take an emergency trip to the eye Dr. He had to numb my eye & dig each little piece of glue out. No fun!
  23. Absolutely beautiful. I wish I could detail as good as you.
  24. My poor wife started coming down with that flu yesterday & is in bed today feeling horrible. As fast as it spreads chances are I'm next.
