  1. I have seen many of these cars at concours events and at R-M. This car is different in that it has minimal bright trim. I didn't call it chrome as some of it was polished stainless steel I have the Heller Delahaye and Bugatti and they are interesting kits but yours will be unique and much better! Thanks for sharing.
  2. Coming soon! Sunday, April 15th! 'Dragstrip Memories' is a show all about drag racing in southern Ontario! Real drag cars, photographs, vendors and more! All in the Warplane Heritage Museum, Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. http://www.warplane.com/events/upcoming-events/event-details.aspx?eventId=110
  3. 120 vendors tables this year! I just started loading my car and I hope I can see out of the windows to drive The weather will be perfect, a hanger with vintage airplanes, tons of models and accessories, what else do you need? By the way Ken, have you considered changing your name to Falcon?
  4. Check out Bob's Paint. I have seen him at NNL events in Detroit, Toledo and NJ, very easy to deal with, lots of colours, good quality. I believe Bob is on this forum as well.
  5. There is a guy that makes all kinds of electronic parts for cars and trains including battery holders, bulbs, connectors and whatever else you might need: Evan Designs
  6. The Jaguar was first released by Monogram about 1963 using the methods available then. The Porsche was issued many years later with much newer technology and a larger budget. Hence, the Porsche will have better detail and working parts. I have seen the Jag built up by many people and they all loved it. Just remember you are building a 50 year old kit
  7. Not enough interest to make a plastic kit I wonder if the resin kits sold well, even then, maybe only 500 copies, not enough for a kit. And the Cheetah did not have a very good race record
  8. Tres, tres beau monsieur!
  9. Sunday, March 25th, Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum, Hamilton, Ontario, 9AM-4PM, a full IPMS contest and flea market with more than 100 tables, in the hanger with the airplanes http://www.ipmshamilton.ca/default.aspx?pg=f5656173-a3c1-4635-ac3c-b589f2cba25a
  10. That could be a very busy weekend as the Southwestern Ontario Scale Model Expo is on in London; Capcon Ottawa is tentatively scheduled for the same day Group 25 contest in the following week.
  11. The dictionary definition of chrome is a metallic plated finish, so paint will never be exactly the same. You can send out parts to have them chrome plated if you do not mind waiting and paying. For real chrome, this is the way. In the past year, many people have been using the Molotow Chrome pen, which is an ultra bright silver ink. It looks good but it has downsides, such as, do not touch it, do not polish it, do not clear coat it, without being aware that you may damage the finish. Even Molotow, the manufacturer, warns against touching or coating it. The pens come in 3 sizes and can be found at many hobby stores or online. I find the pen works well for small touch ups, dashboard knows and dials, inside door handles, gauge faces, etc.
  12. Back when this happened, late 60s-early 70s, the L'il Coffin was passe, not wanted on the show circuit. However, Montgomery-Ward wanted a show car, contacted Darryl and this is what they paid for, unique with their name on it. Yes, Darryl did remake the L'il Coffin but from a fresh start. This was rebuilt into something else.
  13. Thanks for the photographs. That Berlin Buick is amazing! I saw it in Detroit and the workmanship is excellent! The Corvette cutaway is really neat!
  14. This is the fourth year for this show with new owners and they are working hard to make the show great. Lots of excellent cars with special awards for Best Canadian, Best First Time Shown and Best in Show. I was working with our road racing group and we had an F1600 car and a Subaru Time Attack car, the engine of which is below. The Subaru puts out 750HP at the crank, 600 at the wheels, yes it is a 4 cylinder, yes it has a turbo and other stuff Here are my photos, enjoy https://public.fotki.com/howardcohen/motorama-2018/
  15. In 2009, the restored Ala Kart made an appearance at the Detroit Autorama. I took a few photos with my first digital camera See how the model kits compare to the real thing
  16. It also can be built in a 24 hour challenge...if you remove the roof and make it a bubble top
  17. No idea who built it as the signs were not up, did talk to one of the guys for a few minutes. Interesting, there were 2 altered Continentals in the show
  18. I spent a few hours at the show yesterday, saw some amazing cars, talked to some great people and took a few photographs I did not stay as long as I normally do as I was ill but I still enjoyed myself. Follow the link and look at some outstanding engineering on the black Model T Truck (tell me how many changes you can find, there are about 100), the VW, the Continental, the Go-Kart and many others, enjoy https://public.fotki.com/HowardCohen/detroit-autorama-2018/
  19. That club has been gone for about 20-25 years. Pat R might know where some of them are.
  20. They are available in Canada if your local hobby store chooses to bring them in.
  21. That is very good! I have thought about doing a wagon version but I could not find a roof I liked. I did build one as a pick, title Dean Jeffries Shop Truck'. Side bar, 'The Monkees' is currently running on a local television station and at the end, it says 'Monkeemobile supplied by Dean Jeffries'
