  1. At NNL East, I bought an AMX from JoHan. He still makes a few kits, just small quantities.
  2. AMAZING kit and build!
  3. How long does it take to rebuild a damaged race car? A day and a half will do it if you are Penske Racing. This Acura went into the tire wall at Corner 5 Friday afternoon doing serious damage to the entire rear end. The driver was out of the well constructed car quickly. The safety team made sure there was no further damage. The flatbed crew did an excellent job getting the car off the track and back to the pits. The Penske team did an amazing job rebuilding the car and having it ready to race Sunday morning. Almost everything from the firewall back was replaced and the car looked like new when the scrutineers checked it Sunday morning. Well done all around! https://public.fotki.com/howardcohen/mobil-1-sportscar-g/
  4. This weekend at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, Bowmanville, Ontario, Canada, eh https://public.fotki.com/HowardCohen/mobil-1-sportscar-g/
  5. I have started to use Tamiya Clear (TS-13) as a barrier coat (hint from a friend who was a professional painter) to prevent fogging from body work and sanding and it works quite well. I start by doing whatever body work I need, then use Tamiya Fine White Primer, sprays on thin and covers, then shoot a coat of TS-13, then my colour coat. I wait about 20 minutes between coats, then let it sit for a few days to fully cure
  6. This past Saturday, I was at Grand Bend Motorplex for some nostalgia drag racing. There was also a gathering of hot rods. I only stayed a few hours due to the 105F temperature I still had a great time and saw some amazing cars! Enjoy https://public.fotki.com/howardcohen/grand-bend-motorple/

  9. Looking for something to do this weekend? Live within driving distance from London, Ontario? Take in the Fleetwood Country Cruize! This is an annual event to raise money for various charities in the area and draws 5,000 cars or more! Come out and have a great time! Here are my photographs from last year... https://public.fotki.com/howardcohen/fleetwood-cruize-2017/
  10. This is a Canadian based online racing car magazine covering all facets of motorsport. http://www.prnmag.com/
  11. This race was at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, north of Bowmanville, Ontario, Canada and featured different classes of closed wheel cars, lots to see and do (except for the 2 hour plus fog delay Saturday). Follow the link to my photographs and enjoy https://public.fotki.com/howardcohen/victoria-day-speedf/
  12. The L'il Coffin had so many rebuilds and changes over the years that when Darryl wanted to restore it, he said it was too far gone, so he started fresh. Yes, there were changes made, such as relocating the door hinges but that was done so the doors would open smoothly Other changes were made and each one had a reason. In the '60s, when Darryl first bought the car and changed it, it was because Monogram wanted him to and that was when they brought out the kit. In the early '70s, when the car was off the show circuit, Darryl was offered a pile of $$$ to rebuild the car as an ad campaign, so he did FYI...I have bodies in at least 4 different colours of red, purple, metallic red.
  13. The date may be marked on the box or the instruction sheet or the back of the decals if you have them.
  14. Saturday, May 26th, Century Gardens Rec Center, 340 Vodden Street East, Brampton, Ontario, 9:30AM - 5PM (approximate), lots of vendors (tables sold out), raffles, IPMS format. Follow the link for more information. http://www.torcanmodelshow.com/
  15. Wow! Very well done! I picked up the older Blueprinter BTTF Trilogy set at NNL EAST and really appreciate how much work you put into this.
  16. As always, I had a great time at NNL East. The drive from Toronto, Ontario is worth every kilometer/mile I brought a few vehicles to display, bought a few kits and took some photographs The best part is chatting with everyone before, during and after the show. Here is the link to my photos: https://public.fotki.com/HowardCohen/nnl-east-2018/ And if that was not enough, on the way home I stopped in at the Northeast Classic Car Museum in Norwich, NY, about 40 miles southeast of Syracuse, saw about 170 cars and took a few more photographs Enjoy.. https://public.fotki.com/HowardCohen/northeast-classic-c/ THANKS to Tom and all the great people who help put on the show...I am already planning for next year, are you
  17. Wait, you are attending your nephew's wedding...I think Steve is also attending a wedding...are you guys going to be related?
  18. A friend was doing some work for MPC back then. The kits that came out of General Mills were packaged in Concord, just north of Toronto. I believe the bags of parts were shipped to Canada as unfinished product to avoid an import tax on a finished product; boxes and instructions were also shipped to Canada, then stamped with the French marking. Then the kits would be packaged and shipped across Canada. I do not recall any actual production or injection being done at the time. I do recall driving to a warehouse in Concord to pick up something. That would have been in the early 1980's.
  19. Due to the very bad weather, the show has been cancelled. Putting on the show requires putting the vintage warplanes outside and they are concerned about damage to the planes.
  20. I plan to leave Toronto very early Friday, stop at a car museum for a few hours, then head to Jersey. I hope to be there late afternoon. Saturday at the show, home Sunday, with another stop on the way home
  21. Not from me as I was vending but if you go to their website, you may find a link.
