Thanks for the comments guys - just a quick update pic of the 99% completed engine - transmission just needs painting. Cheers Andy

Just a quick preview of my 2nd build which uses Replicas & Minatures Buick headlights & side trim which is a look I've always been partial to - needs a bit more work around the headlight bezels to mould them in properly. This one will have a flathead. Thanks for looking Andy

Just a couple of pics of the engine sprayed Tamiya Blue To pick out the cadillac lettering on the valve covers I covered the script with Bare Metal Foil before spraying & then polished down to the BMF with a 1200 polishing cloth. Interior's also been sprayed in Humbrol matt blue/semi gloss black. Thanks for looking Andy

Aoshima kit OOB - colour is Zero Paints Lamborghini Arancio Atlas pearl. Thanks for looking Andy

Thanks Tom - at the moment there's no chassis installed so it's just sitting on the body - I think the kit suspension will need lowering to get the ride height that I want but looks as though it should be fairly simple - we'll see !. I've started work on the engine & replaced the kit valve covers with ones from the Monogram 59 Cadillac kit & swapped the kit supplied aircleaners with a resin one from Replica & Minatures. Thanks for looking Andy

Thanks Matt They're just the stock headlights but I painted the inner rim silver to replicate the bezel - I did think about cutting some aluminium tubing to fit but hadn't got any big enough. Cheers Andy

I've always loved traditional style kustoms & now the waiting is over (living across the pond has it's disadvantages) and I've got my hands on 1 (well 4 actually) of these kits - God bless Jack @ Model Roundup & airmail . This first one will be pretty much oob to see how everything goes together. The only change to the body is that I've filled the front turn signals. The wheels are made up of the kit supplied steelies together with Modelhaus (?) single bar hollywood hubcaps & Galaxie 48 Fleetline tyres. Paint is Nissan Magnetic Black Pearl but the pearl effect is difficult to capture. At the moment I haven't started the suspension so the wheel is just resting on the inner wheelwell for photo purposes. Thanks for looking Andy

Hi Marc It's just Revell matt blue (No.56) for the inserts and auto flat black for the rest. Cheers Andy

Just some pics of the completed interior : Thanks for looking Andy

An unusual choice for me as (i) I don't normally build sports cars & (ii) it's entirely OOB & (iii) I detailled the underside. Paint is Zero Yellow pearl although it doesn't show up as the weather here is bad (again) . Just a quick build & being Tamiya the kit went together with no problems. Thanks for looking Andy

Japanese car culture has it's own distinct style for older domestic cars called "shakotan" which apparently translates as "low ride height" and I must admit I'm partial to it !. This is a recent Aoshima release based on a car in the "shakotan boogie" manga comic. It's a pretty basic ex-motorised kit with a distinct lack of chrome parts (i.e. none) and some fairly interesting methods of construction for the interior - the dash & door panels glue to the body!. Thanks for looking Andy

Sorry - posted in wrong section & not sure how to delete thread

Just a quick update : Paints been polished out, window trim sprayed satin black & panel lines added. Thanks for looking Andy

Thanks Ismael I'm surprised that Steve hasn't come back to you as with all my dealings with him he's always been prompt & efficiient - I know he's had problems with his internet connection and also with the flooding in his part of the country- I think he's had to stop taking paint orders as his supplier of paint comtainers has also been affected by the flooding over here in the UK. Regards Andy

A bit of a departure for me as I don't usually build this type of car (I only went into the shop for some air brush cleaner) but like a kid in a sweet shop I couldn't resist !. Colour is Zero paints pearl yellow: 1) Base coat 2) Pearl coat 3) Zero pre-thinned clear (needs polishing out) I'll try and resist the urge to build it non-stock . Thanks for looking Andy

Another build from Aoshima's Super VIP Car series. Looking at reference pics it appears that black, silver or white seem to be the pre-dominant colours for the style so I decided on black. The body was sprayed with Halfords matt black auto paint and then Zero Paints pre-thinned clear. To enhance the sinister look I sprayed the Aoshima Equip rims black. I'll post more progress as I make it. Thanks for looking Andy

I don't know what I was on when I dreamt this one up as it's widely held as being one of the ugliest cars ever built (in case there are minors browsing the forum I won't go into what the front grille has been likened to ) but I kind of like it despite it's oddball styling. It's pretty much OOB except for a change of rims & some parts from the Model Gar Garage p/e detail set. Paint is Zero Dodge 2006 Plum Crazy (rapidly becoming a favourite colour of mine) and the suspension was ditched in favour of cocktail stick axles to get it in the weeds. Conti kit & fender skirts came with the kit. Thanks for looking Andy

Just a couple of pics with a bit more progress made - all the BMF work's finished and the front & rear panels have been added. All I've got to do now is try & Aclad the bumpers :uhoh: Thanks for looking Andy

Just a couple of outdoor shots of the nearly completed body - the grille insert is from the Model Car Garage p/e detail set. A small moan is that the chrome parts are attached to the parts tree in the worst possible places so that once they're cut you're left with bare plastic in the most visible places - main culprits are the rear lights/trunk trim/conti kit & door handles. Thanks for looking Andy

Just a couple of pics of the nearly finished interior - I'm sorry about the poor pic quality - been raining all day )it is summer after all !) so no chance to take outdoor shots. Thanks for looking Andy

Or to give it it's full title - "Okada's Ken & Mary's Nissan Skyline 2000 GT-X". It's the recent Aoshima kit in the "Shakotan Boogie" series which is basically a reissue of an old ex-motorised kit with the addition of SSR Mk.III rims, stretchwall tyres, front & rear spoilers and two different grille options for the front & rear. Having said that I think it'll build up ok (it seems very similar in parts & construction to the red Skyline I built a while back which came out well despite being simplified) - one drawback is that the bumpers aren't chromed so I'll have to see if I can finally get the hang of Alclad chrome. Anyway here's a primer pic (looks a bit odd as I managed to loose the roof in the shadow) and one after the Zero Dodge Plum Crazy Pearl basecoat (which dries matt & nees clearcoating). As you'll see I haven't started on the chassis yet & it's currently riding on Yayoi Slick rims but in the 2nd pic all 4 are the wider rims and I'm not sure if it looks a bit odd - trouble is I want the narrower front ones for another project where the wide rears won't fit so I may use the kit supplied wide/wider rims. Thanks for looking.

Thanks for the feedback guys - nearly finished the front end : Thanks for looking Andy

An obsure choice but what the heck - it's the AMT kit - I've glued the hood closed as I'm just doing it kerbside. The colour is Zero paints 06 Dodge Plum Crazy Pearl plus their pre-thinned clear. As you can see most of the Bare Metal foil trim (and there's of it !) has been done. I'll post more progress as I make it. Thanks for looking Andy
