  1. Thanks! That is exactly what I was hoping to see a pic of. I guess I'm going to have to make a newer grille from scratch.
  2. I personally can't stand Donks, High Risers or what ever they call them. However, I can appreciate the time and effort they put into them. You can tell that there has been some serious time and money invested into them! I'm sure the guys that build cars like that look at the muscle cars and hot rods that we build and have the same negative feelings towards them. It's all just differing opinions and taste, no right or wrong. One thing that has always baffled me though is when they sponsor off the wall products?? I saw a car painted yellow and brown with Yoohoo chocolate drink logos painted all over it? Just seems weird to have that single, off the wall sponsor?
  3. Does anyone here have this Chevy Astro van kit from Fujimi? I am wondering if the grille/headlights will fit the AMT S10 to update it? I'm hoping someone has this kit and might be able to provide measurements of the grille? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Fujimi-Chevrolet-Astro-LT-AWD-Passenger-Van-/220867141185?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item336cb51e41
  4. Hey, what's up with that Tahoe in the background!!!!!!!! Is it a Model or a diecast?
  5. This thread is ironic to me! Wheels are everything to me when it comes to models! so much so that I have mastered and cast about twenty different truck wheels, contracted machinists to make real aluminum wheels and designed several different lug nuts that RB Motion makes. The only thing I worked on this weekend was machining the sidewalls off those "one sided" Monogram Snap Tite tires so I could place them into the back of another tire (same kind) and make the tires look like they are supposed too! I hate when you look under a model and see a tire with no sidewall!
  6. Man, that is a sweet lookin truck!!!!!!!!!!!!! Is that a resin crew cab?
  7. Thanks Dennis! The 352 110" big bunk cab is currently available from Eric in resin and the little day cab will be available soon.
  8. Finish?..................Is that Spanish? I don't know that word?
  9. Here's a link to my in progress pics of the cab and sleeper that I'm making. I really don't know when I'll be able to get it out for casting just yet. Hopefully soon. http://www.public.fotki.com/lotso/some-cab-masters/
  10. Yes, after I finish the master, I'll be sending it to Eric (P&P Resins) for him to sell.
  11. Hey Gordon, the sleeper that I am mastering is just like the one in the picture above of the real W900L. Mine has no windows on the upper portion. I am putting the windows in the upper sleeper doors though.
  12. I'm actually mastering that Aerodyne flat top and daylight door cab. I just need to get back to working on it.
  13. Just wondering if anyone has made the newer style grille/bumper (1998-2002) or any other newer S10 parts?
  14. Check your local pawn shops for used automobile AC vacuum recovery pumps. This is what I use and it works great! My pressure pot doubles as a vacuum chamber. It's pretty simple, I had a piece of 1/2" thick, clear Plexiglas cut into a circle just a bit bigger in dia. than my pressure pot. I then drilled and tapped it so that I could install a "T" with a vacuum guage and a shut off valve. The gasket that seals the lid to the chamber is 3/8" fuel line, slit down one side along it's length. When I need a vacuum chamber, I just place the fuel line around the top edge of the pot and place a small dab of clay where the ends meet. I then place the Plexiglas lid on the pot, turn on the vacuum pump and push down lightly on the Plexiglas. The vacuum takes over right away. Just an FYI, the vacuum is for the removing the air bubbles from the silicone mold material before the silicone has cured. This will eliminate "positive" air bubbles in the silicone which will leave little balls of resin on your completed part. The pressurization is for the uncured resin only to force out any trapped air before curing begins. NEVER vacuum resin!!!!! Trust me, it makes a hideous mess! Something else that can be done to remove air from your uncured silicone is to place it in the freezer. This will greatly slow the curing process and allow the air bubbles to float to the surface. Something to remember also, is that when you vacuum silicone, it's going to rise to twice it's volume as the air escapes so make sure your mold box has sides that are high enough to contain it or it will overflow and your part will be half exposed. Always happy to help with tips!
  15. I was wondering if it's ok to post the same thing that I'm needing in both the "Wanted" section and the "Trade swap or Free" section?
  16. Sorry guys, I don't know specifics but I did promise not to tell what I do know. I think we'll all be getting good news from the show though!!!
  17. The first issues of the W925 Kenworth (Watkins) had the torsion bar suspension as well. The later issues were sold with the walking beam.
  18. Trust me, you'll want to visit the Moebius booth!
  19. https://ssl3.world4you.com/modelmakershop/index.php?cat=c118_Truck-Curtains.html&XTCsid=5m8jnnfi2u5d09g1iiuohp00u7 Here's some that are pre made specifically for model trucks.
  20. Noooo, there has been much worse! There was a jet (looked like an F16) at a Russian air show that came down and flew straight through the crowd for quite a long distance before actually exploding. The pilot was able to eject but it killed hundreds.
  21. I like how a Light, flat tan looks in an orange vehicle.
  22. You got it before I did, Eric! When I was building my Smokey and the Bandit Kenworth, I was comparing all three hoods, The Revell (ex Monogram) 1/25 Snap Kenworth Aerodyne has the best hood for a short hood! The main difference between the AMT hood and the Revell snap hood is that there is a raised lip on the sides of the fenders on the snap hood. All three hoods fit the Revell cab like a glove though! I would recommend getting the snap kit as the AMT W925 kits aren't cheap! I just bought two sets of JBOT's decals to build one as well!
  23. Comparing the new Lonestar kit to any of AMT's tired, outdated old kits is like comparing a Chevette to a Corvette!!!!!! I am not a big fan of how the Lonestar looks but after getting some and seeing the incredible detail, ten times the parts you get in an AMT kit and with it being so well designed and accurate, I'm liking it more and more!!!!!!!!! This Lonestar kit is the first kit of a modern truck ever done with this much detail and accuracy! As mentioned it costs a little more than a reissue of an AMT kit but it costs less than an Italeri or Revell kit so the pricing is quite reasonable for what you get!!!!!
