The Moebius Lonestar
Ben replied to Art Anderson's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Well, yeah, that's only three inches longer than an AMT Fruehauf flatbed box. There's plane and ship models with boxes bigger than that. -

By "right" I mean, correct in all dimensions, accurate in detail as well as the sides and roof being one piece. -

If they get that Great Dane trailer "right" (which I'm sure they will) it's probably going to outsell every truck kit ever made! -
I sent a couple emails to Perry's regarding his resin S10 Club Cab trans kit and was told he'd cast one up for me. I went out of my way to get payment to him as quick as possible thinking he might have it ready quickly. That was at the beginning of October. I sent him the funds and received no confirmation of him getting them. After several emails with no response, I called him. To add fuel to the fire, that phone call ended up costing me 20.00, my fault not remembering he was in Canada but it still doesn't help! He told me on the phone that he would get it out as soon as possible but here it is over a month later, he won't answer my emails and I'm not going to make another call just to add more cost to the situation. I had only heard good things about them and really like the stuff I have from them that I've bought at shows. Just wondering if I'll ever see this kit?

I have one of these, mint in box. It was a promo given out through Winnebago dealers. It scales out to about 1/20 and is designed to be motorized. It's not really a kit, just a plastic promo type vehicle with stickers that buyer adds.

International Lonestar, have you ever seen one?
Ben replied to kenb's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I've only seen a few myself. I think they are just starting to show up in fleets and stuff. -

HA! Just models?????? I also collect all types of diecast, many of which cost hundreds of dollars each! Not to mention Hotwheels, gas station promos and anything else that I find to be cool! On top of this, I'm restoring my (real) 69 Camaro for the second time. Yes................I have a problem! -
Looks like you nailed it! Nice work!

Fake model kit box arts
Ben replied to 57peppershaker's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I knew someone would beat me to it. All these boxes were made by a gentleman that was a graphic designer. I worked with him many years ago on making boxes of kits that I wanted, that never existed. One of them being the Blue Mule Ford W9000 cabover from the movie White Line Fever. We tried to do the box art on a box the same size as an AMT truck kit so it would fit in with the rest of them. We ran into problems with getting things printed so it never came to be . I do however have two of the "Duel" Peterbilt kits. The bad thing is that the cellophane is shrinking and constricting the box. That and the boxes are empty. I have thought about opening them, filling them with scrap parts trees and then resealing them just to give the illusion of there being a kit in the box. The Duel boxes are small. if there were a kit in them, it would probably scale out to about 1/48 or so. -

Dave Natale has all of Rick's stuff as well as the stuff from Silver State and Frank Gortsema. He has had it for several years. -

has anyone used these hinges before
Ben replied to racerx24's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Those exact hinges or a tiny doll house piano hinge that is similiar? I have several different types. -
If the deck is wood, I would try to replicate the look of oak boards in their natural finish. The trailer and dolly are looking great so far!

Pro Star and 53 ft Great Dane reefer
Ben replied to Dave Metzner's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
I just hope and pray that it will have one piece sides, top and bottom and that the measurments are accurate. I can live with anything else! It would be super cool to have the option of two hole budds (never been done correctly in a kit yet!) and the option to buy it in all chrome, like the Revell Beall tanker kit or in regular colored styrene. Spread axles on air ride would be outstanding too!!!!!!! DROOOOOOL, SLOBBER, SLOBBER, SLOBBER..............sorry. THANKS MOEBIUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -

Moebius? News coming up this month?
Ben replied to BigBad's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
This might not be good. Over on Spotlight Hobbies board they are talking about it. They said there's news of a Hudson convertible but nothing else talked about. Someone on the Spotlight forum did mention drawings for a trailer but that's the only thing they said. -
