I'm going to ask Marcia about nthis issue when she gets home. For now I have logoff this machine and go to the house. It's Friday and you know what that means - pool, pizza, popcorn, and WWE Friday night Smackdown!
-
I LOVE IT!!! I just mailed the Nissan engine to you today, Luis, and you're already getting in trouble. Thanks for taking the heat off of me.

My screen doesn't look anything like that, Bill. I went through Firefox and the forum comes up full screen. Has to be something with Internet Exploder!
-
I don't see a "gear", Bill. Yes IE8. At least I'm not the only one with this issue. Marcia uses Firefox and this was her machine. I'll go through Firefox and see what happens.
-
That's the issue, highway. I don't know how to change IE settings. I'm told IE is garbage and I should switch to firefox. IE works, so why change?

If I had a Cuda laying around, I'd send it to you just to see what would happen. I don't like rat rods, but I can appreciate the work and creativity that goes into them. I'm just to into shiny.

My wife gave me her old laptop for the shop. It has Windows XP. I have the forum set up so I get email notices on something I posted a message. When I click on the message and it takes me to the forum, the window that opens is small and I have to click the button to make it larger. My machine in the house always comes up full screen. I don't know if I need to change my settings on the forum or on the machine itself. Can anyone offer advise?

A Nissan engine in a Cuda? You're just looking for trouble. Bet you'd get 4 pages or more of comments on that puppy.
-
I don't see a problem with my statement. Maybe it would have been more politically correct to say the steering is on the incorrect side, but that would depend on where one lives. I live in the USA and the steering wheels are on the left side.
-
Yeah. My first post to go 3 pages. You gotta look on the good side, Luis. You're getting the Nissan engine. WHAT are you going to put it in?

I think carbs look so much more "real" than fuel injection. I'm just an old school kind of person, I guess.

Dave - I was trying to lighten things up. Gregg always says it's about me, me, me. I just meant it as a joke. I have no problem accepting criticism, good and bad. Building models is my hobby. If I'm not having fun building, then I'll quit. Issues with my painting was brought to my attention at JaxCon and suggestions for improving were discussed. I didn't go home all upset. I went home and changed my technique(s). I'm not, by far, a "master builder", but I'm more than willing to try and learn. No sweat over here, George. I appreciate your support.

I respect the opinions of all my fellow modelers, but this is my thread about my build, and I would like it to stay on the subject of my Nissan Skyline with a Chevy engine. Right, Gregg? A modeler gave me a seat last night at the IPMS meeting and asked me to pop a mold and cast the puppy. So I'm off to the shop to do some work.

I used to go up to Milwaukee the week after the Indy 500. Same cars & same drivers. Everybody had those high winding little 4 or 6 cylinder cars, except for one guy who ran a Chevy V8. The car wasn't the fastest, but it sounded the best. Nothing like the sound of an American V8! Don't worry, Ken. I'd never put a flathead in a Ferrari - but maybe a Chevy 396, or a Ford 427 Cammer, or a Mopar Hemi. Pretty bad of me to even think it, huh? I haven't decided on an engine for the '35 Auburn yet. The original engine is on it's way to LAone. The bumpers have been tossed and the openings filled; grill cut out; 3 round taillights on each side; and probably some 23" Pegasus wheels/tires.
-
Looks pretty good, Carl. Are you going to use the Magic Bric material? What are you using for the garage doors?
-
I had a great time buildin' the Skyline, George. I was happier than a pig in stuff when I didn't have to alter the hood for the new engine. The headers are solder into aluminum tubing collectors into smaller diameter aluminum tubing.
-
Everyone should be welcome to their opinion, as we've seen here. I hold no hard feelings towards anyone, and hope the feeling is mutual. I'm not a "purist", so anything can happen in my builds. Joe - I have the '35 Auburn I'm working on and the stock engine won't be going in it. The kit version is all chrome and I might have 2 of them. I'm not positive, but they might be straight 8s.
-
Oh well, Highway. My build. My choice. Your probably won't like what I'm doing to a 1935 Auburn either. PM sent to LAone.
-
That's the stuff - Kosutte Gin-San. I've tried it over black, gray, blue, and a few others and can't get it to look like chrome, but it looks great on wheels and other parts as a cross between chrome chrome and black chrome. LAone - how about trading another engine? A Chevy small or big block would do.
-
Looks like you're making some excellent progress.
-
Thanks guys. Sorry to disappoint you Wheelman. The engine came from the parts bin so I don't know the origin except I put my casted M/T valve covers and alternator on it. I have the Nissan engine if your interesteed in it. The finish on the wheels is the ginseng stuff. It's a very fine powder that gets into everything and is expensive - like $25.00 for a little jar.
-
You're right, Bill. A 1:1 would really smoke the tires. But what a sleeper, huh? Everything look stock until you get under the hood - well maybe the exhaust pipes exiting in front of the rear tires provide a hint too.
-
The kit front & rear suspension and engine were all seperate pieces. The engine and front drivetrain were put into the parts bin, so I used only the actual front suspension parts. I did have to make a sleeve to connect the kit driveshaft with the transmission. The engine just slid right in without modifications. This is the first wrong side drive kit I've built and I guess I'm just used to putting the hoses on the right side. Glad you like it George53. I love the lines of the skyline body and was finally able to score one in a trade.
-
Here's the Nissan Skyline I just finished in HOK galaxy gray that's been sanded and polished. Wheels are done in that gensing stuff. Looks pretty stock - until you open the hood. There's a big ole American V8 in there. The M/T valve covers, alternator, and carb are my castings. Solder was used for the headers.

Thank you Eelco. Appreciate your comment. Fishing line came from Wal-Mart. It's 30 pound test line and I've been able to find it in clear and a clear red. I've also used hard line from Scale Dreams that comes in variety of colors; beading wire from Michaels and/or Hobby Lobby; and Evergreen rod.
