  1. Ammonia removes the Future, but I don't know if it'll take out the paint too.
  2. Got the Nissan Skyline painted and cleared; the '65 Chevy pickup in prime; started a streetable '51 Henry J; and the '35 Auburn is getting a suspension.
  3. Here's a pic of the Winfield (Illinois) Veterans Memorial that I built over 20 years ago using the Magic Bric method. The model was built to show the town commissioners what we planned to do and then we used it in our fundraising efforts. The model is pretty dusty, but the magic Bric is still intact.
  4. Looks like your questions have already been answered, but welcome to the forum anyway. Check online for Michaels coupons before you go there.
  5. I think somebody posted here to use O rings.
  6. No way would I ever even think about spending $500 on a model car kit! I think $20 is too much.
  7. The neighbors remodeled their kitchen and I was able to get some of their cabinets. That called for a total makeover of my hobby area. Now I even have the spraybooth in there with me. On the other side of the room is 16' of workbench for my stained glass - it also doubles as a staging area for my in progress kits and my molding/casting area.
  8. Great looking build, Mr Mike. Stick or automatic - looks like it's in gear.
  9. It's black. It's shiny. It's flamed. And it looks so good, Wayne. Hope you'll be taking lots of detailed pics of the 4 link suspension (so I can try and copy). Gotta keep watching this build.
  10. Fantastic build. I love how you did the grill and sectioning.
  11. You can't mess with Mother Nature. I see there's floods for the midwest. Hurricane season started yesterday and I'm worried about it. Our temperatures have been warmer than normal and that has raised the temp of the Gulf of Mexico. Warm Gulf water is good for helping hurricanes form.
  12. A most excellent build, Lyle.
  13. You can use PVC pipe to run air lines. It's cheaper, lighter, and easier to work with than black steel pipe.
  14. Mine has a 3 gallon tank and works just fine. It's a Campbell/Husfield unit I bought at Lowe's for about $60 a few years ago.
  15. I use the cheap lacquer thinner from Wal-Mart for cleaning brushes and the airbrush. Whatever kind of paint, I still use the lacquer thinner.
  16. Thanks for the help, fellas. I'll try the styrene rod first. Pete J - I'm trying to make better exhaust pipes and sometimes they need to be bent - as in just a short tip coming out of a muffler.
  17. Somehow I missed the start of this build. Now that I found it, I'll keep watching.
  18. Somebody - Dan Gurney I think, drove a 1961 Chevy in a major road race like LeMans way back when.
  19. I bought one of thoe Du Bro tubing benders to bend aluminum tubing (1/8") and the tubing always cracks on me. Brass tubing bends just fine. Any tips on bending aluminum tubing?
  20. Looking good. I love those Novas.
  21. Yeah. Pretty good looking stuff isn't it, Mercman?
  22. My feelings for our Fallen Heroes is best expressed by the words of Ed Johnson (Detroit, MI) and inscribed on the Canadian Vietnam Veterans Memorial - As long as we live, you shall be loved. As long as we live, you shall be remembered. As long as we live, you shall live. God bless our troops and may they all come home soon and safe.
  23. Are you guys planning to print the veneer pictures on photo paper and incorporating the pic in your builds, or ordering pieces of the real wood? I'm confused here.
  24. You may want to consider purchasing Donn Yost's "The Art of Airbrushing Show Quality Model Cars" DVD. Donn goes through all the steps to get a high quality finish with Testor's enamels. Check it out at www.OldMansModels.com. I bought a copy and it's a wonderful reference. Since purchasing the DVD, I have switched to using HOK pre-mixed paints shot through a Paasche H series airbrush. I use only Plast-i-cote sandable primers.
  25. I don't know what you mean with "distress it", Rob. I would imagine you could apply some paint and/or washes to make the bricks and mortar look older. Magic Bric is used in the dollhouse industry and I don't know if those people do weathering.
