It's that time. I just got my Aug/Sep Issue
crazyjim replied to crispy's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Yo George. Florida is further from Denver than Detroit. How come we get the magazine on the same day? Terrific issue isn't it? Can't wait for the #153. Hey, Gregg - when's the next issue coming out? -

I thought you were going to try and pass it off as a model. That's a Holden? Neat looking car - kinda '55 Chevy front end and side trim. Is it a 4 door with the rear door handles removed? What year is it? Very nice work on it only the steering wheel is on the wrong side. -
Double sound, David? Probably McQueen goosing the trottle to keep the RPMs up. Sounds cool, huh?

Nice compressor, Greg, and super nice car carrier. Those aren't Gregg's wheels on that Mustang are they?

What is your favorite mold making product?

That Reynolds outfit has an office in Tampa, but then I'd have to pay sales tax on top of shipping and I don't do that. -

Looks like you're teaching dad some good stuff. -

When my #2 left she took my dog too! I had to drive all the way out to Sycamore (40ish miles) a week later to pick her up. My Samantha wasn't eating and crying all the time. I think she missed me. Taking a man's dog isn't right. I'm glad I'm out of that marriage. There's a couple of humorous parts though. After selling the house, I found a smaller place and used the VA to get a loan with no downpayment. She complained to the judge that she has to live in an apartment. The second funny thing is that about a year later Lucent Technologies started downsizing. I was able to retire with a pension. Her and the boyfriend's division was shut down and they both lost their jobs with only a minor payment.

Thank you David and Jordan. I really appreciate your positive comments.

I understand, Niko. The little parts are attched to sprue. I would imagine after using the file you would probably need to use some finer grades of sandpaper to get a shiny finish. I'm going to try your suggestion and compare to the casting I plan to do. I might also try casting some Evergreen rod after it's been through the drill and you suggested. Thanks for the help. I forget when you're planning to come to Florida. Maybe we can get some Model Car Builders of Florida together to meet with you.

I found it cheaper to buy Smooth-On products online from Chicago Air Brush rather than from Smooth-On direct and have ordered some Alumilite from Ma's Resin. -
I know how you feel G. I married my first less than a year after returning from The 'Nam. She couldn't take my drinking and anger. Dated for a long time and fell in love with #2 but she wouldn't marry me until I got help for some PTSD issues. That took 5 years with a VA shrink. After 9 years of marriage and a whole bunch of credit card bills, I got home to an empty house. She decided she liked her supervisor at work better. My #3, Marcia is great! She is actively involved in all the Veteran stuff I do and doesn't mind that spend time building. She thinks I waste time, but I think the same of her playing Farmville all the time.

MCG has a nice variety of items and runs a couple sales every year. Both of us being in FLA causes paying sales tax and shipping - so I usually order MCG items when I place an order with Rick over at Scale Dreams. I think Scale Dreams has a larger variety and pay only shipping.

Whoa, Chris. We were sunny and 85/55 with no snow predicted. We have the pool heated to 89. Life is good and maybe I'm not as crazy as I thought. -

Chris - if my issue doesn't show up next week sometime, could you send me your copy? I'd send yours back when mine came. -
Make '59 Caddy lenses yourself? I have some that are chrome plated and I', waiting for some Aluminite and red tint to cast some translucent red lenses. How would you make them?
