  1. Great save!!
  2. My all-time favorite year of Corvette and you did it justice. Good work.
  3. I got word back from VCG. They do ship worldwide so all the international guys will have no issues.
  4. Are we still having this LSx debate? The term LSx where the "x" is a variable meant to represent the different number and letter variations (1,2,3,6,7,9,A, etc.) was widely in use long before GMPP put out the iron block crate motor known as the LSX. Are they interchangeable? No. Are they both commonly accepted? Yes.
  5. Excellent looking build. I've always had a soft spot for the 911. I may have to step outside of my GM pro-touring box and take one of these on.
  6. You know I'll be following this. I always enjoy seeing another builder's take on a old project or trade of mine.
  7. I'm pretty sure that CSC softens up resin and destroys it.
  8. I'm glad I test fitted the body before I repainted. The tires are fitting a little wider than I anticipated. They're not coming off without breaking something so I guess it's time to do the scale equivalent of rolling the inner fender lips. On these Novas, there is a rather large bulge on the inside of the fender lips. It is probably designed into the mold to ensure the body fills out. I should be able to take enough off to squeeze the tires in.
  9. Got the Nova up on all fours. Aoshima 19" Kranze LKZ's and brakes from the Revell C5 Vette. Body is finally stripped so I hope to get the base black down tonight. I have to make a quick trip to the hobby shop tomorrow for another can of MM Bronze and she'll have an orange stripe this time around. I'll really be pushing to have this done for the Heartland Nats this weekend.
  10. Yep, I just loaded up AutoCAD on the home PC. There are several parts/ideas that I've had that have held up builds over the years. Now I'll just try and model them in CAD and send that off to Shapeways for printing. I could see myself throwing together some wheel sets as well rather than trying to continually track down OOP Aoshima/Fujimi sets.
  11. I don't know for sure VCG's international policies but if he won't send me a PM. I'll put a few extra on my order and get them to you.
  12. Ordering will be through VCG. I just created this thread to show him that the market was here to make it more likely that I could get a top-notch caster to take on the project. I do get a discount on my first order for creating the master but otherwise there is no financial gain for myself. My main goal was to get this out in the wild as I believed it would be a bonus to the modeling community to have it readily available.
  13. Awesome. I thought I was going to have to bug the guys up in engineering to make me something in Enovia.
  14. If you don't mind me asking what CAD setup are you using to design the wheels? This is something that I could definitely get into given the lack of aftermarket companies doing pro-touring style wheels at the moment.
  15. Thanks, I will check those two first.
  16. Wow. I was happy to get the 6 x 10 room tucked under the stairs in the basement. It already had some built-in cabinetry installed when we bought our place. These rooms put that to shame.
  17. Great call on going with black for the wheel centers. I've got several sets of those and have never been overly crazy about them until I saw this.
  18. In the past, I used Duplicolor Filler Primer lacquer for pretty much all my priming needs. One used to be able to pick up the big can at WalMart for about the same price as a can of MM or Tamiya lacquers. It was getting hard to find then but now everything at WM is made by Rustoleum. Is there an equivalent to the Duplicolor in their line? Better or worse in terms of quality? I haven't yet tried hitting the auto parts stores around town to look for the Duplicolor as that was my fallback option when WM was out.
  19. I've fallen in love with dark grey on cars. I think that in most cases is looks even more sinister than black. Great build.
  20. Great color choice on a clean build
  21. Great looking color on that Nova and the wheels/tires fit the build perfectly.
  22. Good looking Stang
  23. Have had good experiences with: DPNM Steve Zimmerman mikemodeler PARTSMARTY There's a whole slew of others I've dealt with before I took a break from the hobby but it appears that thread is gone.
  24. Being a CMM programmer by trade for an aerospace supplier this stuff is right up my alley. We receive a CAD model from Boeing, etc. and engineering writes their CNC program from it and I write my inspection routine from the same data. We also reverse-engineer/digitize dies and masters on a fairly regular basis using the CMM to scan it and kicking the point cloud upstairs for the guys to build the CAD files. Count me in the crowd that believes it is just a matter of time before 3D printing is commonplace. I think that it will be the detailing bits long before full kits. $13 bucks for a set of 3D printed wheels as was mentioned earlier in the thread? You can easily pay that now for a set of Aoshima or Fujimi wheels. With 3D printing you could have a great number of designs available. Depending on how the files are set up one could be able to control the width, offset and diameter of the wheels and then be able to print exactly the correct tire sizes and styles to match them. I'd give up having to buy kit after kit just to steal a handful of parts in a heartbeat to have the option to print out just what I needed.
  25. I'll do what I can. I've got to track down a Dana 44 IRS rearend from the newest Revell Viper tooling to do the suspension conversion. It's the closest one in scale to the M50 they are using.
