  1. Great looking build
  2. I've been away from the hobby for awhile but just pulled this project back out. Hopefully finishing this one up after so many years will get me motivated to keep building again. Revell '69 Vette with the L-88 hood and flares from the '68 racing version. Gunmetal with a black stripe and red hashes all from Tamiya. My tastes have changed over the years and this build originally called for a modified widened version of the Cali Wheels Torq Thrusts but after mocking it up with these Aoshimas I may go that route. Same goes for the motor. I had originally planned an EFI'd Hilborn but I may go with a different EFI setup this time around. Still all-aluminum BBC with a T-56 six speed from the Revell '02 Camaro. Interior will be the same Italian Red as the valve covers and seats.
  3. I like where this is heading.
  4. The version in the orange sketch I'd probably pick up. The black version I'd have to be convinced to buy.
  5. Thanks guys. Yeah, he's got a bunch of great looking stuff. It looks like the only way to get his EFI setups for BBCs is to buy the whole motor. I can't find them listed separately. I'm also looking for someone to cast my T56 six-speed master. I can't remember how Revell '02 Camaros I've bought over the years just to saw off the tranny for pro-touring projects. I'll run it by him and see if he's interested.
  6. I'm getting back into the hobby after a couple of years away. I can pull their website up on my phone but not on my computer. I'd like to take a closer look at some of their offerings before placing an order and I'm just wondering if they are still active.
  7. I'll be there if nothing else to take some pics. I still haven't been able to get my new hobby room set up since we moved to the new house in September. The missus has kept me busy with honey-dos and remodeling projects.
  8. A word of warning on those silent compressors. Since they lack the tonal quality of a gas-powered weed whacker that can and will assault your ears at any moment you'll miss out on several modeling experiences such as: -Dropping your airbrush as you're startled from an intense concentration. -Watching the cat do a backflip and then accelerate at speeds approaching the speed of sound. -Hearing your better half pounding on the floor at 3am because you needed to lay down one more coat before calling it a night. You buy what you wish, I'm just sayin' it's something to think about.
  9. The Lowrider kit is basically the truck from the Waverider release with the exception of the stock grill and front bumper.
  10. At last count, we're down to just one real shop in the entire KC metro area and it's on the other end of town from me. I'd love to have one out this way for no other reason than my own convenience.
  11. I'll just send you a smaller monitor in exchange for the 25 incher. That outta fix it.
  12. Great work on the Vette!! The early C3s ('68s and '69s) have always been my favorite. Love the red interior! I went with red on my forever-on-the-bench pro-touring '69 Vette.

My favorite generation of Vette! My first thought when the pics pulled up was a superhero. That paint scheme is just screaming for a Superman shield or a red cape.
  14. She's a beauty!
  15. To each his own. I've got a stay at home wife and four kids so I know a thing or two about living frugally. I still can't imagine cutting corners on certain things like tools or safety.
  16. Pretty much gonna echo what has been said about the Revell F-bodies. You can mix and match the rest of the goodies from the Revell C5 Vettes, C6 Vettes, Silverados and SSRs to get just about any LSx motor in scale. The F-bodies will get you the T-56 stick shift; the Silverado and SSR the automatic. Here's my Revell LSx crate motor for my '69 Nova: '02 Camaro block and tranny. C5 Vette accesories, intake, heads and beauty covers Silverado oil pan
  17. I'll take you for your word on that. I've seen so many Camaros without that trim that I never would have guessed that it was standard issue. In any case, I'm an absolute minimalist when it comes to cars and chrome so it's one less thing that has to come off.
  18. That's how I got back into the hobby as an adult. I had hernia surgery and was off for a couple of weeks. I was surfing the internet looking at 1:1 car stuff and got into a 1:1 forum that had a scale section. I was blown away by how far the hobby had come with the aftermarket PE and resin stuff, quality of paint jobs and detailing, etc. since I had built as a kid. Next thing I knew I was stocking up on kits and supplies. Great job on your builds. A co-worker of mine is an avid ship modeler, I'm the model car guy and another buddy there is into trains. We can get some interesting shop talk going on when we start into our respective hobbies.
  19. I really wish MCG would offer those valve covers separately.
  20. It's really hard to find fault with Revell's 1/25th '69 Camaro.
  21. It's a whole lot faster on my phone. Not that I would use my phone to check the board while I was at work or anything.
  22. I've had a Nesco with the trays cut out for years and love it. I'll usually leave it as low as it goes (95 F) and let it do its thing. I've never once had any issues with softening plastic or resin.
  23. I posted my manifesto with the answers to global macroeconomics, ensuring peace and equality for all, solving climate change and proving cold fusion. I've slept since then so it's all lost to the digital abyss.
  24. If anyone wants to pass on the big inch rims/tires I'd be glad to take them off your hands.
