Looks great, build.

Looks like the kids have been using it for a paddock basher , top build.

Nice build Dave. A bit out of your comfort zone to follow the destructions is it not .

Fota have announced the agreement and more details, they basically got what they wanted from the start. A 2 year phase in on cost reductions back to early `90s costs. Transparent governance of the sport by the F1 commission. All changes to be decided by the FIA senate & not by one man. Consultation with teams on direction / changes in F1. Will assist new teams get established. And MAD MAX is gone There will be more details come to light over time, but these are the main points for me.

Could be the end of F1

Bernard, thanks for easy to understand clarification of how the financial side is run, even though I knew most of it I could not explain it as clearly as you did. Your track lists are cool, but Bathurst is just to wild. I have ridden a bike around there a few times and it's plain scary in places, especially going into Skyline. And the drop down into Forest Elbow is insane. It's so steep that the only other place I can think of that is similar is the Cork Screw at Laguna. I would love to ride that circuit. Phillip Island is of the planet on a road bike. the last time I rode there, the bike I was on was almost Valve bouncing the whole way around it is so fast. Road America would be good, used to watch the Champ cars race there, when we had coverage here. -

That is some real impressive tube work you have done Mike, something I have wanted to try for a while now and would be good practice to improve my soldering. -

Bernard, that ACEA list is interesting, I was not aware of how many companies were involved, thanks for that. That would be most of the major companies of Europe would it not. The Bernie statement I had read, but by Bernies usual standards he has been silent. Your observation about him and his bankers might be pretty close to the mark. The FIA have announced they are starting legal proceedings against Fota , and then in the next Max interview he says that Fota need F1 and F1 needs the big teams, so who knows what sort of politics are going on inside of the FIA at the moment. I sure don't, and we have to rely on the accuracy of the press reports as well. And I think we all know how fanciful they can be at times. Anyway it's another weekend of racing, and the Redbulls look good after Friday practice sessions. It is nice to have different teams on top for a change. -

We have not seen the end of this yet. Bernie has been suspiciously quiet while all this has been going on, has not had much to say at all. As for Max, he has got what he has wanted for ages. First he managed to get rid of Ron Dennis as he could not control him, now he looks like he has got rid of Ferrari. He does not like any one having power or influence in "his" F1. He would get rid of Bernie too if he thought he would survive the stoush. If they do split, who is going to make the engines. I don't know if Cosworth will be geared up to do an entire field yet. ITV-F1 have a report about the financial side of a potential split, and how much the FIA stand to loose ($2.6 billion) in investment money from the teams, manufacturers naming sponsers. There is also speculation that TV companies and circuit promoters will want to renegotiate their contracts as all the big teams and names will be gone, so they wont want to pay as much. Fans will not pay the stupidly high seat prices if their favourite drivers/teams are not in the show. Think of the fan base Ferrari have world wide, even when they are in a slump their core fan base is the largest of any F1 team, and has been for decades. This year is my 30th continuous season as a F1 nut, and this is probably the most acrimonious situation I have seen in all that time. I don't Max, and possibly Bernie, thought the teams would stick together. I think he has made a major miscalculation. Well we will see how it all plays out in the future. I personally would like to see Max kicked out and Bernie retire. Then we might see some sanity prevail. But I'm not holding my breathe waiting. -
Well seeing as I've been a metal head since `77, i should listen to it while building, but i usually end up bouncing of the walls to much. So I generally have the radio on or listen to some Blues, except for when the kids have bad TV programs on.

Cruz, I think the V6 Turbo would be perfect for such a light car. One thing you need to change with the kit engine is the Turbo itself, the kit one is horrendous. I used one from an Iteleri Mercedes V8 truck for my `87 GNX. What i started with I did toy with a twin Turbo set up but went with a single. Here is a twin Turbo pic i found. Imagine that in your Vega.

Looking good Dave, the SD looks awesome. -
...Next step is to tempt the paint gods and shoot the fenders because I have extras if I screw up... ...Maybe this'll be a quick build after all. Of course, tomorrow is the most dangerous day – PAINT!!!... Well i won't be painting tomorrow.

This has piqued my interest, what is the story behind it.

'49 Ford Shoebox Retro Pro Touring Road Racer - Updated 07/12

Gee i've been a bit slack, i missed this build somehow. I like what your doing with this one. The extra lights at the front look good. With the engine, have you considered a cross ram weber set up like TransAm Mustangs had. Something like this Might make the engine look racier. -
Cool Dave, it's good to see someone else use a Jag 6 in a rod.

Built this about 10 years ago from a $5 swap meet purchase. Was missing the exhaust system & instruction sheet, so i just winged it with what parts where in the box. Exhaust tips made from 3mm tube, and glued to the bottom of the bumper. Lowered it slightly as i thought it sat to high, but having seen pics of the real thing in Fujimilovers WIP, i realise the kit was right. This was also my first dual colour paint job. Paint is Tamiya Camel Yellow & Bright Orange. A very basic kit with not a lot of detail, but fun to build.
-
All of the exhaust was missing, so just stuck some 3mm Aluminium tube out the back. I'll post the pics up later.
-
This is looking real cool, sure is a lot of red . I built one of these about 10 years ago that i got from a swap meet for $5, missing the exhaust system and instruction sheet. Now i know how it should have looked.

Very nice cruiser, well done.
