  1. If I was to lift up the model by the cab right now, everything would probably succumb to mean ol' Mr. Gravity in a loud way. Get it? It's all test fitted right now, with just dabs of white glue here and there. Geez, a guy uses a little bit of white glue and he gets ridiculed for life... And yes, the right side battery is not put in correctly.
  2. I ended up using Tamiya Buff, and it's okay, for now, for the reservoirs. Fitment of the tubings, pipes, etc. is a bit close, but once it's all together, it should be fine. MENG has been in touch with me about the chrome issue, we will see what they say about it soon.
  3. Has anyone tried this? Harry, you may have something there! I'm glad I thought of it! Getting there:
  4. Thanks, Rob. I removed them, since they are from someplace else. This thread is on the build and review. Thanks
  5. Mike, not sure if it would work either. It's like I just look at the chrome, and it flakes off. Maybe it's just me? I know, what a flake.... So, there is one bad thing with the kit, but it could be just mine. Have to see what others find when they get their kits. I was thinking maybe just the old airbrush trick that Jairus showed me, using card stock, or something like that, as a fine/hard edge and just airbrush the black? Painted the bed, came out okay.
  6. The chrome seems to peal off easily when being taped up. I messed up the rear bumper, taping it up to do the black steps on the top of it. ouch... Be careful taping the chrome, maybe try not to put tape on it at all.
  7. That may work for the coolant. There is another tank, I think for the washer fluid, maybe light tan? Hmmm... Did the windows tonight, and test fit everything.
  8. Charlie, I think you may have something with the pearl. Steve, I don't see any clearance lights in the kit, or any holes in the roof underneath.
  9. Anyone know of a good/easy color to use for the water reservoirs for the truck? It's actually transparent, but what color(s) would replicate it the bestest? Anyone have a good mix that they think works good? Thanks in advance.
  10. Some painted pics: The front windshield mask was perfect. I love the way the windshield fits in, it snaps in place from behind.
  11. Nothing so far. Everything has fit together great. Ala Tamiya! I had a reaction on the hood to the ScaleFinishes paint, but I think it was because I am rushing it. After the clear coat, it looks fine. I'll put up more pics soon. Best thing is to really test fit everything first, to see what you want to paint together and/or separate. There are mold seams, but they are real slight. Probably the smallest I have seen.
  12. I heard that it was based on a 2010 model. Will get more info on it soon. It's painted today, and clear-coated. Should be dry by tonight. May have it finished tomorrow. I really like this kit. I will be getting some more of them, that's for sure.
  13. All the parts have been prepped for painting. Base coat went on. Should be painted and clear coated by tomorrow. Wanted to build it as a semi-lifted one, with the Aoshima or Tamiya tires (which fit perfectly on the kit rims) or the SoReal tires with the aluminum rims from Micro Nitro. Maybe the next one, or ones... Quick base coat, and checking the fit of the suspension parts The ride height is good, and the soft off road-style tires from Tamiya Mitsubishi Montero (the smaller ones) fit great.
  14. I think it was the Matchbox one. Will have to have Gilbert chime in here. It is a tad too small, maybe 1mm on width and height?
  15. Playing around with a Dually bed Gilbert brought over tonight:
  16. The photos for the review are on the main web site: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/meng-ford-f350-super-duty-crew-cab/ Just put the motor together
  17. Check out the pics on the MCM web site: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/meng-ford-f350-super-duty-crew-cab/
  18. I'm going to put my two cents in here. I thought the whole point/idea for the ID Quiz is to see who remembers, or knows, of a certain car that is featured. I didn't realize that it was a race to see who could search the Internet, or their bookshelves, to see who would be the FIRST ONE to look it up and find it. Maybe it's just me. Probably is. I think it would be cool to have someone who remembered the car, or someone had a relative who had one, and the memories and stories that would be told. I didn't know it was about winning by Googling...
  19. Don is responsible for Model Cars being what it is. He is the one who put me up for six months in Denver (Aurora, CO) while the magazine was started, which I credit to him. He got me in touch with Golden Bell Press, and the rest as they say, is history. Don, I owe you so much, and I am forever in your debt. Those early days of the mag, and staying at your house, sleeping on the couch, coming in at all hours of the night from the long road trips, those mean so much to me. We did a story on Don back then, featuring some of his builds, and it's still one of my favorite stories of all time. Thanks, Don! Mahalo nui loa. Glad to see you here, and I know everyone will welcome you with open arms, and keyboards! Miss you bud!!! Gregg

I was thinking of black fenders, but the silver base coat came out so nice, Pete said to just clear coat it and see how it looks. Don't think I'll be doing the flat head, not with those big n little rims I have that old five window body that may be good with the flattie. I'm going to remove front bumper, yes? Interior is just so plain. There was not much detail to it from kit dash is nice, just nothing else inside. Wanted to get a Model Car Garage photoetch grille made for it, but that didn't happen. For side trim, going to wait until car is done, then tape up the side, and do my Alcade trick to it.

The kit came with the two options: tall/regular and chopped, with open chopped windshield frame, and the closed tall/regular one. I love the chopped one. I will try and find that scale real glass for the windshield. I forgot who did that article on real glass. Geary maybe? I'm probably also going to remove the front bumpers/supports run small rear nerf bars in the rear I wanted to run Bob Dudek's aluminum front end, but the Mustang/kit IFS looks fine, maybe some RB Motion shocks, or see what Jim at MicroNitro has. still in planning stages. I wanted to send a bunch of stuff out to be chromed for it, maybe if get time I will
  22. Steve, why the impact driver? Is it faster? is that the third pic? I swear by the 3M Rubbing Compound Alex Kustov, or resident Ferrari builder and painting expert, featured that in an old article in Model Cars, and I had to hunt it down here. I love it, and use it on almost everything now.

This has been one of those long lost TO-DO projects that has been put on hold for so long. After Pete gave me some of his gorgeous red/burgundy paint, I had ScaleFinishes match some for me. Shot it a little while ago, and then laid down some clear that Pete also brought over (do we see a theme here?) So, it's getting there. The wheels/rims are suggested by Gilbert in our club, they are from 1/18 scale JADA die cast/import models, from eBay. Thanks, guys!
  24. Very nice my friend! Your work is always impressive.
