Here's some kit pics of the kit that came in the mail the other day. I like this one! Great job to the Moebius gang and our friend Sean Svendsen for his great box art and build of the car. I like that the gas filler cap is not a separate piece: I lost two of them already...

That's good to know! I know there are a lot of little bugs that have showed up, still working on those as well. I think they made some new skins for the updates also. -
KIT REVIEW SUGGESTION
Gregg replied to sjordan2's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The main web site has photos of the completed builds that I do, along with all the parts/sprues in the kits. I have been doing this for years, although lately, we have run out of room in the printed version of the mag, so most all of that is online now. The main site will be THE place to go for everything, once I finally get the hang of it. If you take out the /forums in the URL, that goes to the main site. As for the slot car kits, I haven't been able to "play" for a while now. I still look at them though.... Thanks, Bruce, I really do appreciate the support. I wish my accountant felt the same way..... -
MODS- what does "0 warning points" mean?

MODS- what does "0 warning points" mean?
Gregg replied to Cato's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
It's basically the same system as the old warning levels, but more control for admin/mods Sorry Harry, was the first old capture I had. I save all the "interesting" threads before they are deleted/removed. -
Forum reply question - Google interference
Gregg replied to sjordan2's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I thought I had all that stuff off. It must be a user-specific browser extension. I had tried to use Facebook log in, but that didn't work. Interesting... -
Let me chime in here for a second. I have hired a new moderator, yes hired, and he will remain nameless, and there is no reason or need to who the person is. Don't even try to guess who it is, let it go. It is something that has been needed due to childish behavior and temper tantrums that have been displayed here on the forum recently (not in this thread) The moderator's job is to keep everyone on track, without any regard whatsoever to who, what, where, when, or why. The hand may seem a bit heavy, but that has to be. I do agree that we all have other interests outside of model cars, and it's great to share those with our extended ohana here, so, moderator, when we have a topic like this, we can watch it, and let our ohana share some of their other passions. Sorry, politics and religion are not one of those passions we will allow here though :-) Thanks for everyone's understanding, and don't get mad at the moderator, he is paid to be mean....

If it's big scale, then Big Boyz would be the best place

What kit did you start with?

KIT REVIEW SUGGESTION
Gregg replied to sjordan2's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
This came up with a review I did for upcoming What's New products, some aftermarket parts for the Nissan GTR, and the company not only demanded that I get Nissan's approval first, that they get some "back margin" returned to them after the review is printed. It's amazing what goes on behind the scenes. The biggest problem is this: Usually, when you do something new, or want to try something new, you can go and ask others what they think. Well, guess what, in this industry (publishing), unless you are a Fortune 500 company, are part of a huge media corporation, or part of the insiders in the biz, you are stuck with doing what you think may work. There is no forum, group, or association that I can ask questions to, or get opinions from. I am the rare .01% of publishers out there who are that point of being too small to be big, and too big to be small, that there is no available peer help out there. Everything is by trial and error, and if I didn't have over 15 years of legal experience, I would probably have been in hot water a long time ago. That's why I am so hesitant to do things, and get yelled at for not doing them. I error on side of caution all the time, and am my own devil's advocate. I can't ask Joe Blow what they think about going digital, or using Zinio, because Mr. Blow doesn't know, or sends me to Ms. Idunno, and then I get routed to corporate counsel, Wi Tsuing Yu. So, that's my story, and I'm sticking to it..... I do take into consideration all comments, suggestions, and requests to travel to hotter zones, and I'm sorry if I don't respond to all of the personally. Now, where was I? -
KIT REVIEW SUGGESTION
Gregg replied to sjordan2's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Good point about the kit instructions. I will ask AMT and Revell if it's okay to include the links. I don't want to scan them myself, that would not be good at all, even with their approval. It would have to come from them. -
KIT REVIEW SUGGESTION
Gregg replied to sjordan2's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I am trying to push all traffic to the main site, that is the goal of knocking heads with David (my web guru/helper/brainiac), and once I get the handle on the site, hopefully it will be seamless integration to all parts of the site. It's a lot of work, and it takes up so much time, which I have, but just can't use, if that makes any sense. Sorry if I come across harsh, it's just that so much goes into behind the scenes, to get bashed on stuff while everything is in progress just pushes that last button. Rick, sorry for the slap, my lawyer's number is ........... -
KIT REVIEW SUGGESTION
Gregg replied to sjordan2's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I guess you completely miss the ones that I do on the main site: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/content/amt-meyers-manx-dune-buggy-kit Also, I would highly recommend that you DO NOT use URL shorteners; they are famous for attacks of spam, unwanted emails, etc. Read up on them, they are the subject of a lot of issues and problems lately. As for the prior thread, it turned into a slamming contest, and sorry, that's not only not right, but was uncalled for. The magazine is doing the best that it can with what we have. I am not a big corporation, with huge offices. When it comes down to it, it's still one guy in Hawaii who is doing the best he can. I spend more every year than what I make on the magazine, and when attacks that have been on the forum lately show up, it really makes me want to shut it all down. Why should I spend my own money to be treated like this? -

Bill, run that Type 3 Ghia down!!! I had one, let it go like an idiot Yes, the manifolds look more like a single port, but they will work with this set up, and if they were small Webs, like 38's, then not too bad Biggest I ever ran on a single port were 40's, but that was bog central This is just a start though, so let's get ready for some more great aftermarket parts soon. I know, I have to get kicken' on mine too....

I received this from Hobby Link Japan a little while ago, and with the down time I had recently, I put the almost finishing touches to it. It's a real simple kit, curbside at it's finest form, and it went together perfectly. My only complaint is the side windows: they are bowed, not straight like the real car. Easy to fix with sheet clear acetate, but this is a box-stock build/review. Box: The Parts: Body: It was a fun build, and if I took some time on it, it could be even better. http://www.hlj.com/product/FUJ12553 It's out of stock right now, but it should be back on the shelves soon.

I just got them from Norm, just got puter back (Logic board went bye-bye) will post them tonight (I hope) It was a nice "vacation" No whining, complaints, should do it more often...
