How To Video Screen Shot Tutorials
Gregg posted a topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I was wondering, have the how-to videos from screen captures been easy to view, understanding, and make sense? http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=52417 -
New to this site and model making with some Qs
Gregg replied to sonsw87's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Sometimes I get away with cutting away one of the mounting points on the sprue tree, then touch up with paint after. I have gotten into the habit of spraying everything, after scrubbing with SImple Green and toothbrush, with Tamiya Grey Primer. I know, expensive, but it has been working great for me. -
I was trying to find a post here from before. Someone had posted that there were resin Five-Spoke 1/12 scale rims available from someone, but I can't find the post/thread. HELP

Everyone with the warped chassis, please email me photos. Thanks

Jimmy Flintstone quality?
Gregg replied to Evil Appetite's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
With Jimmy, you get what you pay for. His $10 resin bodies are good, some are great, but his higher priced ones are better. Plus, he's a great guy, Jairus and I went to his house/shop, and we had a blast! One of our more fond memories of the people in this hobby. I would not hesitate to spend money on Jimmy Flintstone resin bodies and kits. -
Laptop Recommendations
Gregg replied to Mr. Moparman's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Get a Mac, you'll never go back. Seriously, no problems whatsoever. I still have every one from the first one used to create the first Model Cars. -
I got the new Micro Nitro web site up and running
Gregg replied to MicroNitro's topic in Links to Aftermarket Suppliers
Here's a pic of Jim's new Mustang rims: -
I know, John. I want to get that Merc finished, and soon!!

Here's one from before, the Revell 1/12 Mustang Shelby, Jim from MicroNitro.net sent his two new Mustang rims, and I can't make a decision on which one I like better. So, help me out here guys, the front one or the back one?

Why thank you young man!!! This will have a lot of Bob Dudek parts on it by the time it's pau. The hub caps and frenched lights to start. Motor will probably be topped with his Valve Covers, and exhaust, and possibly the tail lights. The Bare-Metal Foil I have is getting too old. The side trim is done in the Super Bright Chrome, which I like the look of. The windows are regular chrome

e komo mai (welcome) I have a quick how-to article I am doing for the mag on just this topic. I buy them from Radio Shack, different sizes, and I love the flat nosed ones. Scale Motorsport also has some cool little holders for small parts http://store.scalemotorsport.com/merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=SM&Product_Code=1108&Category_Code=TOOLS I buy the green 3M double stick tape by the rolls usually as big of a roll as I can afford at the time, and cut them up into squares using popsicle sticks to hold almost everything else. For decals, try experimenting with the Micro Sol and Micro Set decal setting solutions, and a low-heat hair dryer. Maybe our bud Mark Jones can share some decal tips -
Here's one that was sitting on the table for a while.

What is the best way to putty resin parts?
Gregg replied to Sergey's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
I always use a two-part putty, like the Evercoat one. Lately, I have been trying the Bondo, the higher priced one with the aluminum or metal in it. -
'77 GMC Wrecker
Gregg replied to BOSWELL891's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Cole, do have some other photos of the wrecker, maybe we could use on the main web site under the kit reviews? Need some photos that have more depth of field, in focus from front to back. Let me know if you would like to do this. Thanks. -
Round2 said this week hopefully the Purple Ones will be up on their site/store

You know this motor is not the same as the 2010 Mustang GT kit don't you? Completely different. If need super close up pics or comparison tree shots, let me know. This was bugging me for a few days. Thought I read this somewhere here.

Sorry about the bump today on the forum
Gregg replied to Gregg's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
They said it was a firewall issue, something happened there. Phew. Thought it was me, you know, the guy that doesn't know any code, always asks for money, doesn't know what he's doing..... Wait, did I say that out loud? I'll probably get banned.... -
One thing I thought would look cool (yes, I'm on meds...), is where the flames start on the front of front fender, do a tear away, like something underneath is causing the flames... Just a thought. I'll go back and lay down now.

Detailed Lonestar WIP
Gregg replied to XJRV8's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
John, I don't know if this would work for "members" but I tried something that worked. I put up a bunch of photos, using the full editor, and then before I went to Post it, I went back and added more pictures, kind of like a second batch. It may be my permissions, as admin, but I thought it may be a workaround. Thanks for the pics on the Lonestar, nice work so far. What was Mr. Vince talking about with the VW pics, did you do some on the Manx? Vince? -
That looks like it was a lot of fun to build. Welcome to the forum. Are there any model car clubs there in the Philippines?

Paul, don't know if I responded, but thank you!!!

My Downdraft Paint Booth Finished
Gregg replied to Big Daddy's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
My only thought is that with the bare wood, that's going to attract major dust and paint buildup over time. Any way to cover it with the white formica thin sheets, or veneer? I had that problem with mine, added the thin veneer and it wipes clean after use. Or does someone else have ideas? For my old metal one, I would love to have white powder coated, but don't know if can wipe powder coat down with lacquer thinner Daryl, I like the way this one turned out.
