  1. Roger, that Green Chevy is one of the nicest photos I have seen in a while. I'm serious. I am impressed, very impressed. Unless, of course, you are going to tell me that you accidentally posted a pic of your real car.... Sorry to steal the thread. One thing I look for on models on the table is a flawless chrome trim, especially around the windows. Take the time to sand and polish the window/windshield frame, moldings, etc., BEFORE you put the Bare-Metal Foil down. BMF will make all imperfections look 1,000 times worse. I also polish the BMF with metal polish before I put it on. I do this on a piece of glass before I cut it out.
  2. Tempe Lake? Danno, go to your room!!!! (The one with the padded walls...)
  3. You know what's weird? My clear purple one has plain white under the chrome!! That is so weird!!! Unless I switched the chrome trees, but I don't think so.
  4. This is an older project, hate the way the finish is around the windows. Hopefully I can sand it out.
  5. Okay, stop everything. It's messed up. Unless someone can click on the Sell button, can you go to the member area and start a new auction?
  6. Ben, I like the idea of trying white under it first, I'm glad I thought of that!!!!
  7. Okay, what part of tomorrow is not understood? Okay, forget this software, nothing works. And I'm getting nowhere with the guy that sold it. Back to square one. Sorry all you 9 guys that registered!!!! STOP THE PRESSES Don't register or do anything. I'm pulling it down again.
  8. I have uploaded a new program for the eModelCars.com web site It is the updated version, but I have to start from scratch. I tried to import the users and categories, but that didn't work. I couldn't get any help with the MySQL databases, so we'll have to start from scratch. I will be updating the categories later today, so don't post any new items until tomorrow. You can register today if you want to get a start. Thanks for the patience on this. I hope the next time this doesn't get to be such a headache. Oh yeah, the URL is different, if your bookmark doesn't work. It's hosted with the mag now: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/auction The old URL: http://www.emodelcars.com will go to a redirect, so that should work for now. I will be changing the DNS and all that tech talk stuff this week also, the URL should be plain. phew......
  9. I will add my two cents to this, and hopefully that will be it. When Jairus and I started this forum way back when, it was with intent of creating an online ohana (family) of model car builders around the world. With that in mind, that should end this controversy, completely. But then again, there are those who probably want more. Don't you know everyone in your family's real name, and where they are from? When you go over to Uncle Freddy's house in Waimanalo, you know that his real name is Frederick Kamakaviavaole, right? And he lives down by the beach in Nalo.... One thing that has made Model Cars so different is this local style of running things. Yes, it's a sorry excuse for being late with the printing (Hawaiian time), but that's just a coincidence... In Hawai'i, everyone knows everyone, and we all know where we are from. It's the same with this online ohana. If you have something to hide, or are just trying to make trouble for trouble's sake, please say aloha and be gone. We have always been a laid-back community, where everyone knows everyone. I have stayed at many fellow modeler's houses over the years in my travels, and I don't think that is something anyone else in this business can say. It's a great privilege to have so many friends who open up their houses to me when I'm in the area. Plus, one thing I always get a kick out of is showing up unannounced at friends houses, or stopping by local hobby shops on a road trip, and just seeing the jaw-dropped responses from everyone. It's a blast... Or I should say, it was a blast, with the It's being a hopeful thing in the future. Where was I? Oh yea, names. If it's too much to ask to put your full name and location in your profile or screen name, I'm sorry my wanting to bulid an ohana is offensive, intrusive, and unacceptable to some. MCM is different from any other magazine ever published. It was in the beginning a solo effort, done by one person, with a love of the hobby that was second to one, yes, one, not none, if you know me, you know where the refernce ends up. I started it with the hope of creating a model car magazine for the those who just as crazy about this hobby as I was. It has grown, although slowly in print numbers, to a major presense in the world of the model car hobby. With 2012, it will become the biggest model car magazine out there, and this is just the beginning. It has happened because of the support, loyalty, friendship, and of course patience of Harry. Yes, my heath is a major issue, and we have other small problems as well. But tell, have you ever tried to publish a magazine yourself? I'm not talking about those "cloud publishers", those do not count. Anyone can do that, with zero money invested. Publishing is not cheap, when I lost Plastic Fanatic, I went into bankruptcy with over $125,000 listed as debts. I lost everything. Now, with Model Cars, I think I have gained it all back, plus some. And so, asking for your full name and location is too much to ask? I'm sorry. I think most of us are like me, they like to put people's faces to the names, so-to-speak. One thing I always get compliments on (besides my great looks), is that I do a lot of photos of people at the shows, with names, that lets everyone know who everyone else is. That big Toledo NNL one, done with the help of Bob Black, was a blast, so many people got to see who was who in our hobby, and of course Mr. Big got two numbers!!!!! (Yes, I cleared it with him first). Now, where was I? Oh yeah,...... shoot. I forgot Oh well, I pau.... Haouli makahiki ho! (Happy Year New)
  10. Dwayne, you made me laugh. Glad you survived!!! And it's haole :-) I was haole, but I quit. That's my line, nobody can use it, I trademarked it. I think there are a few IRS pans out there. I'm working on the full article for the VW's so have patience. If you have input for it, send to me in email. I know everyone wants the info now, instant gratification, but need to save some for print, yes?
  11. I thought our Alex Kustov did a tutorial on this. You may want to check his web site out, www.ItalianHorses.net I'll look into this also.
  12. It's not scammers, nothing like that. It's more of you get what you pay for. Try and get away with $200 software that you hope does the job of a $3,000, you are bound to get bit in the behind
  13. So far the clear kits are a little brittle. I will be sanding underneath the body of the purple one this weekend, getting rid of the sink marks, then painting silver, then semi-gloss black (thanks, Jairus.) Everyone, please send your high-res pics to me of your Meyers Manx (only) Dune Buggy models and real cars. There is a Corvair motor in the Barris buggy kit, can't get to it right now, I know it's yellow. Dwayne, I'm from Kailua, sorry. Us Kailua boys don't like dem Kaneohe guys.... We would take the Pali over the Likelike every time....
  14. Casey, quick note for right now. I love this thread, I will be back in it soon to post. I have a Formula V way back in 1984-87 or so. Don't know if have any photos of it. I'll be back to read your post more later Just wanted to say you have my attention, big time!!! Don't know if you heard, I'm an old VW tech from before, everything from dealerships to my own shops, to drag and these Formula V's. Be back soon.
  15. It's called, money. I was doing the much needed updates to the site/software, so that PayPal was better used, and all went to the land of no return. I have been trying to fix it, but nothing short of a major overhaul is working. I am looking at other software, but it's $3,000 for it. The guy I bought the first one from does not respond to any of my emails. So, I'm stuck, basically. I don't charge for eModelCars, so dishing out $3,000 for the software that would make it really good just is not in the cards right now. I'm trying to move it to a sub host of my domains on the VPS, to see if that would help out, see what happens. Unless someone wants to invest in the site.....
  16. Also, the office is requesting that anyone who has received their copy of the magazine to contact them, and they will send a replacement, but they are also requesting that the damaged magazine be returned to the office. They are working on getting I guess you could call it evidence together for this problem. Thanks.
  17. Thanks, guys. The issues are getting better and better every month. And, please people, can you keep the sarcasm on the delivery schedule down? I am doing the best I can, and this constant berating does not help. I understand your frustration, and I appreciate your patience.
  18. Thanks, Cole! We really do appreciate everyone subscribing, and being a part of the ohana. Yes, I'm habitually late, but I can say those days are behind us,.... well, almost With the Contest Issue, we will be caught up. It's a double month, so that will get us on track. And then, hopefully, wishes come true :-)
  19. We are getting up to the bigger two-piece molds in our resin casting series, but that is an issue or two away right now. Wayne, email me when you get a chance, I'd like to see what you have come up with over the years, I always am impressed with your work my friend.
  20. For those who didn't see Tim Boyd's article in the November 2008 issue, here it is: DuneBuggyNov2008.pdf
  21. I found my old Revell Dune Buggy that I had worked on before. It broke a few moves ago....
  22. Okay, did a test. Do not paint the purple metallic with just black. It ruins it!!!! Stock chassis, unpainted Painted semi-gloss black from underneath: Ouch!!! That ones is getting painted black top and bottom!!!!
  23. Here's the three stages of trying to undercoat the Purple Metallic Meyers Manx Dune Buggy Top: Unpainted: Painted Tamiya Silver undercoat: Sprayed Tamiya Semi Gloss Black on top of Silver: I agree with Jairus, you have to sand down those sink marks from inside, and polish them up enough so that they don't show. Thanks, Jairus!!!
