  1. Unfortunately, your camera is the limiting factor. There are no controls that will let you set a decent depth of field. There is a macro function, but there is no AV, TV, or Manual mode. You really need a camera that lets you set the aperture, or better yet, a manual settings function. AV mode works well, especially since you have the photo light set up. Maybe look for another camera, maybe on Craigslist, or Amazon? I love the Canon brands myself, any of them that has the AV, TV, or M settings on the dial, usually on top. Sometimes you can cheat the point-and-shoot cameras by standing back and zooming in a little bit to open up the F-Stop on the zoom settings for the camera, but then you risk getting the model out of focus also. You can also try and play around with the macro setting, focusing on the center of the door. I do like the lighting on the model, that's a good start.
  2. Thanks for using the site, Chris.
  3. Thanks, Doug! I really appreciate you offering to help out with the forum. Love those old Strombeckers, I have a box of some old slush cast resin bodies around somewhere that I may have to put some time into one of these days (Since SOMEONE got me hooked into these things,..... hint, hint, hint....)
  4. Thanks, Steve!!! Question, can you post a photo of the filler "Icing" that you use?
  5. And Darin Bastedo did that great feature on him in the recent issue of MCM that was superb!!! Thanks, Darin!!!
  6. Jim, that's da Big Kahuna, get it right, geez......... :-)
  7. Maindrian Pace and Steve, yeah, the grille doesn't look right at all. From what I remember on my '65, it's like you could not see the upright or vertical bars on the grille until you got really close. It seemed like an almost straight across horizontal bars, with the center nose, that seems smaller also. And yes, those two gas caps, which are wrong shape also. To me, they weren't that ovalish, if that's a word. I remember it being round so it would be able to twist off. With an oval, it could not twist. Heh, from Hawai'i, we make up our own words, yes? Maybe this weekend I can start it. I have enough ScaleFinishes.com paint to get a nice color combo to choose from. Even got all the engine colors too! Did Modelhaus make a '65 grille? I'll call Bob over at Model Car Garage (again) and see what he has got for ideas on this one. That would fix the grille "problem" for sure.
  8. Let's drop the whole money thing. The forum as it is right now is fine. And besides, donations and/or gifts would help out right now, but when the next round or month comes, it would be "Play it again Sam" time all over again. It is a monthly issue, that I will deal with. With the forum plugging away now as it is it's fine. The server is running good, the main site is getting better, David's helping out when he can, and there will be a bigger and better site along the way soon. Just consider it growing pains, and get back to building. I still see great new topics and threads being posted every time I get on the board, and that's the way it should be.
  9. Jonathan, that's really all I need. That, and that winning lottery ticket.... Mahalo nui loa
  10. Well, it's here in the MCM photo studio, the new 1965 Ford Falcon Ranchero. Here's all the photos: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/0923 After you guys take a look at the photos, especially the front grille, please let me know what you think. Unless this has been brought up before, then, oops, never mind....
  11. This was tried already, and it's not going to work. Yes, PayPal takes their fees, no matter what, and then what someone brought up, say Keoni Kalakaua donates $10, then gets into an argument with Terry Temptress, and then they start yelling on the forum. They both get banned, but then, since Keoni has sent in his "donation", he feels that he should not be subject to a ban, or other such restriction, since he is now an "owner" of the forum. See where this could be a problem? I didn't get it at first, then it made sense. So, for now, it's concentrating on the mag and online content that is here on the forum, and making sure that everything works seamlessly. And of course, keeping the fighting down to ZERO.
  12. I remember someone asking to delete a topic too. That's why I usually ask for an email to be sent to me so I can double check the IP's against the person whose account or topic is to be deleted. It's a pain, but sometimes it's necessary.
  13. Thanks, guys. I know the update caused some problems. I'll try to do a video tutorial on how to check all the settings.
  14. Thanks, Tank! Tell everyone I miss seeing their endearing mugs....
  15. Thanks, Romell. Yes, this is to be an ongoing feature in MCM in print, and thanks for putting this on the forum for everyone's personal inspirational model and/or modeler.
  16. I just got the new AMT Custom & Competition M&H Racemaster Dragster Slicks Parts Pack. These are pretty cool! They are about 7/16" wide, and 1 7/32" tall.
  17. Wish we could take the credit, but it was just a little bit of research into which software worked the best. Glad you have no problems with posting, that's good to know.
  18. I have one of the old Lindberg ones on my workbench, somewhere... Or should I say the black hole of model building projects... Cut open the hood and grille, have motor from the new Dodge Magnum, shortened to single cab, instead of the club cab. But, will it ever get finished????
  19. I'll try it again today, thanks, Tim
  20. Do not leave it in for long, I mean try five minutes at a time, tops!!!! I learned the hard way on the MCM Enzo project car, that ended being thrown away.
  21. Instructions, what dat? I had no problems before, that was the thing. I will try over emamel, but have doubts. I tried the Spaz-Stiks spray chrome, it's so so I have a little of the polished aluminum left, but it's more like, well, polished aluminum. I'll see what happens later this week. Thanks, Del

  23. That's really good to know on the silicon tires. Never knew that. Another great feature of the forum, you learn things by just looking around. Thanks guys!
  24. No comment on the physical condition. Mental, no comment either. My traveling is on hold indefinitely. Thanks for asking though. Love your work
  25. That's why I loved Clear when it was at it's bestest. It only lasted a while, and is now only at two airports, but it was/is a great idea for those who travel a lot. Scan your eyeballs, check your fingerprint/palm print, and off you go. No lines at all. That was a blast. Yes, I use it, still have it, but haven't been able to go anywhere for a while. Hopefully soon. As for me, I love to fly, but of course, I'm spoiled..... Okay, back to "work"....
