Lets Build some Models
Gregg replied to Romell R's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Skip, I think you took Romell's post all wrong. We are not telling everyone to shut up. Not even close. We want to see more models, so we can get more ideas. I really don't know where that train of thought came from, and I think that's the problem here. Sometimes people misinterpret what someone else says. We can't read body language, or smiles, (with Danno's endless supply of them), and sometimes we just don't get what someone is trying to say. So yes, go build models. And tell us about them. Stop the bickering, we are losing good members here because of it. -
Skip, we have been fortunate to sometimes receive material from our overseas friends. The last major one I did that involved translation was the beautiful 1/12 scale Bently 4 1/2 Litre Blower from Francesc Pulido of Spain. I still have his Bagatti Type 59 that is in final translation, that I hope to get done soon. There a lot of incredible builders in Japan, like Akihiro Kamimura, who I met years ago in Chicago, at the 1/43 scale show. He almost did not win that show until I pointed out that his incredible Ferrari 312T4 (?) was in fact not a curbside (because every single panel was so precise and looked like there was no way it would be opened up), and in fact it was, every panel was removable. He won the show, and was very happy. Thanks for the reminder, Skip. I will contact him again. Although, nohingo wakarimasen. It's gotten better, sochi, but I have friends who can help. domo

Thomas, thank you for helping out with Bill and Len's article on the Hawaiian and Chi Town. The easiest way to send articles is by FTP. Due to the hack last year of our site at GoDaddy, I have strict uploading requirements now, and you have to contact me, gregg@modelcarsmag.com, for the FTP information. I use Transmit and FileZilla, both are good, but have a different interface. Transmit is more like a Mac, FileZilla is more like a PC. Attached are the Writer's Guidelines, which are supposed to be up on the main site. I want to push more people to the main site away from the forum, for the completed builds, how-to's, etc. WritersGuidelines.pdf

Brian, the only difference was I did not embed the image into the post. I won't do that anymore. I guess there's a glitch. I will let Invision support know. Thanks. I was thinking about the Super Snake also. I also wanted to do that to the 2010 Mustang, but I don't have it anymore....

I think those are the ones and the lights I wanted to get for my 2010 Mustang! They would be killer on the 1/12 one too

Derrick, very nice! I think I saw that one on one of the other sites somewhere. I was very impressed (I hope this is the same slot car!) p.s. Harry takes food stamps....

Ken, if anyone does what you think they will do, they will be banned, deleted, and purged. So if you have over 1,000 posts, and do something like that, you will everything you ever had here, good or bad. And only the person who started the topic can close it. No one can close someone else's topic unless they are mods/admin

Thanks, Jim, and Jim! And don't mind Danno and his infatuation with show girls. You know it's that heat in Phoenix that does it.

After talking to Romell tonight, we thought we would try something different for a little while. Now when a member creates a new topic, they have the option to close that topic and therefore, they will be the only ones allowed to post any updates or new posts to that topic. Now why would we want to do this? Say for instance Joe Blow wants to show off his new Colonel Custard Chrysler Omni race car, but doesn't want to deal with, or listen to, all the snide comments, critics, sarcastic remarks, or other flame war starting responses. Now, he has the option to close the topic and display his pride and joy. If anyone starts a new topic or thread, directed at that person's said post/thread, then they will be dealt with, with no warning. You play by the rules, or you lose your privilege to post here on the forum. They are real easy rules to follow, a lot of it is common courtesy, and common sense. If this new option does not work well, it can be turned off.

I use the Tenax 7R liquid glue for most of all my kits that I build. That and clothespins or rubber bands will work all the time. As for the progress of the Lexus, it fell off the table and has to be repainted. Probably same color, maybe more metallic, something from Scalefinishes.com of course!

Clear coated it today. Not too thick, just enough to protect the decals and still give it that applied over the paint look for the stripes. The motor is painted, have to put the rest of the drivetrain together now.

Yes, you're making trouble again. I saw your hand in the cookie jar. How many times do I have to tell you? You never learn..... See guys, this is called a joke, banter between two friends who have known each other for a long time. There is mutual respect here, and we know what each others tolerances are, and what not to say. Now, there may be some who would see this without knowing the background or facts, and think that this is not right. So, like they say, .... Shoot, I forgot what I was going to say.... JAIRUS!!!!!!!!

Danno, go to your room, NOW!

There will always be someone who has to say something negative, it never fails. I guess that's just life. I guess you can't see the significance of that many registered users. It means that people are finding the site, and registering. As for "active" members, there is on the usual, between 150-200 people on the site at any given time, and that's a huge amount. Sure, a lot of people don't register or log in to look at the site, that's their kuliana, but the numbers speak for themself. It means that all the work in promoting the mag, the web site, and the forum is paying. That's why it matters.

FULL BUILD REVIEW: 1/12 Revell Shelby Mustang GT500

I agree Stump. I am pretty sure there will be aftermarket parts available soon, but I haven't heard any official word yet. If I mess up the clear coat on the black, I may end up redoing the stripes, and doing them in a dark metallic grey, or flat black like I did my 2010 Mustang GT Convertible. I do miss that car sometimes, it was fun for the year I had it. Didn't like filling it up every five days though.

Fairly new and in need of some gracious help
Gregg replied to hckycoz's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
e komo mai, Michael. I am still a fan of paint cans, and I love the DupliColor line of automotive paints, because they last forever, have a lot of colors to choose from, and lay down really nice with good body preparation. Tamiya paints are even better, since they are made for our plastic models (DuplicColor is for cars, and they need really good primers to make sure it doesn't craze the plastic). Yes, as da Big Kahuna, I have probably all the available air brushes and compressors available, but I still love my spray cans, Tamiya and DupliColor. For the air brush, I am partial to the German one, Harder & Steenbeck, and of course our friends over at GREX. You can't beat the silent airbrush compressors, and your better half will love the quietness of them, but her wallet won't. I would always buy the best you can, but start with sprays first to really polish up on your body prep skills. And don't be afraid to ask questions. That's what we are here for! -
