  1. The motor is from the Revell 08 Shelby GT500 kit. I may just stop and do all the photos for the review, and then build another one. After building this one real quick, I see some areas where it has to be perfected. That's one thing about shooting it with this camera in the mini studio. You really see your flaws! But, it's nice, and I will be doing a couple more of them. I took the whole front clip off the Shelby 500 Mustang, and shot pics of it along the way It's not a drop in fit, but almost. It was a cool conversion, and you could even get away with swapping out a complete new Mustang chassis under the Falcon, it fits, of course. I don't know the two-tone got that bleed through, I sprayed clear over the tape before I shot the black. It may have been the tape, I was trying new pinstriping tape, should have stayed with the Tamiya tape. My goal was to have it pau for GSL, and enter it. I'll just bring it and show it off in progress. Thanks for all the input on this. I may even try later to do that brushed looked again.
  2. Last photos before packing up for GSL.
  3. I did the black in the Chevrons, didn't reshoot the pics yet. I haven't found the steel wool yet My methods with polish/paper don't work I was going to try the steel wool, or maybe like Chip did, with that green Scotch pad first on a test side/strip
  4. Phil, I am humbled that you remember that one! I just looked at it's second cousin, one I was going to make into a fully-detailed one, with aluminum and better carbon fiber. I am humbled...
  5. Dan, go to your room... Nick, thanks!
  6. <br /><br /><br /> Y'all wanna put your money where your mouth is?
  7. Rick, the black rims were the ones I reviewed way back when I think from the Brazil guy, can't remember who/what. These aluminum rims are from Bob Dudek, and I love them! I would love to have him do some more, some day. I didn't go with the black ones because of the fit problem, they are too tall, these smaller ones fit up nice with the "cough cough, """"Stock" suspension. I won't go into the details of the running gear. As I alluded to before, I am being a snake :-) I did the interior panel in the two tone per Harry and everyone else. But, I broke one of the door locks, they are so fragile.
  8. I was wondering how you would feel about that. I may even go one step further and "Foose" it, where it is roughed up with very very fine sandpaper or polish, to give it a brushed aluminum look, but I can always do that at the end. Okay, I pau for now, maybe even for today..
  9. A little more than half way done with Bare-Metal Foil. I also moved this topic/thread to On The Workbench, since I had that great idea
  10. I will have flyers in the Meyers Manx kit. I will get first shot at them. I will be doing a feature with Bruce Meyers also just before the release of the kit. I will let everyone know more as the release date is known for sure. There has been tooling/parts issues along the way.
  11. I sprayed this will Tamiya primers and HOK lacquers, hence super thin coats I can guarantee that if I used the thicker Testors paints the panel lines would bea lot less visible. I love the panel lines I will buy all the kits that the naysayers will refuse to buy The only thing I do agree with is the high price of the kit If it was the same price of the Galaxie kits, which I also love, I think it would do super well!
  12. I lied. One more.
  13. Last pic for today
  14. Black Panel, Orange Insert I am doing a pair of seats black with orange pin striping Notice he said a pair of seats, not the kit seats? Think it may have something to do with the motor? What a snake, I tell you......
  15. Now, for some advice/opinion On the door panel/interior, should I two-tone it the orange and black with the orange on the insert, or the black on the insert?
  16. Paint is pau. Let it set up for a day, then Bare-Metal Foil and assemble Wait till you see the motor!!!!
  17. One thing I am not going to do is to compare it to a 40 plus year-old kit. This kit is being built, reviewed, and judged on it's own merits. Those rear wheelwells/tubs, well, just maybe, there could be a tubbed and street version as well? Yes, they could have made an additional floor pan to replicate the stock one, but I'm not going to complain. I will point it out, but no, I won't complain. Today is paint, I hope.
  18. Thanks so much for adding to this thread. I really appreciate it. Here's some progress on the build.
  19. It's funny. I was going through the other thread where thoughts, opinions, and experts were giving their two cents on the Falcon kit, even before any one had actually had the kit in their hands. I have the Falcon in front of me on the desk, it is primed, and getting ready for paint. I love it! I used to own not one, not two, but three '64-65 Ford Falcons and Rancheros I think Trumpeter has done a great job on this kit. As Dave Darby pointed out, yes, the intake manifold has an "oops" on it by the runners, but when you get down to scale, and the fact that it may not even be seen once the motor is pau, is it that bad? I will shoot more along the way. Yes, I love this kit. No, Trumpeter is not an advertiser. My two cents, and I'm sticking to it.
  20. Now, I know, BUILD IT!!! Just got the kit today Here are some tease pics. All the pics are here: '64 Ford Falcon
  21. It's good to be king I'll do a new thread so I don't hijack this
  22. I did photo reviews of the two kits on the main mag web site modelcarsmag.com it should be linked right there on front page
  23. I will be working on this over the next few weeks. This is just a rough html file of the dealers as of October 2010. Thanks. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/MCMDealers.html
  24. Painted the body today, Tamiya Bright Orange. Will do clear in a while. Interesting body, to say the least
  25. Thanks, Mike! Sorry it costs so much to get it across the border Maybe that can change in time, if we can hook up with another independent group and due a bulk type of deal. April is actually going to press in the next day or so, we should be caught up in a very short while Yes, it is a labor of love by many here, and they are the backbone of the mag. Thanks again for your support, Mike.
