  1. I have been doing this for years actually The problem is the brain cell, yes, cell, singular I will upload as I can the ones that I have. I have back from two GSL's even, I think. Lots of NNL East, West, and in between. Used to p people off cause I would literally push them out of the way as I walked the whole show, shooting every single model, non-stop. So, if you see the crazy guy from Hawaii walking, or limping, around the show tables with a small video recorder, GET OUT OF THE WAY!!!!
  2. The soundtrack was a random one. I can go and change it later. for the URL, you can just to to Model Cars Mag on You Tube it is also www.YouTube.com/ModelCarsMag for those who want to write it down :-) Yes, ModelCarsMag is my YouTube account. Have had it for a few years, only now getting the time to work on it. Yes, Jairus did the NNL West video, and he was rushed, sorry about that.
  3. Once again, Models in Paradise! No, not that kind of models. The Hawaii NNL makes its way back to the Ala Moana Hotel, Sunday, March 13, 2011. Start planning your vacation with the wife now! More soon! Hawaii NNL
  4. I did an update to the photos, adding the table shots. NNL West Photos UPDATES
  5. Dan the limo was waiting for you, I guess you missed it. (It was 1/24 scale though.....) It was a great show (I think, don't remember it already...) Was great seeing everyone again, it's been way too long. Keller showed up, 8 hours later, (Thanks, AMTRAK!) Jairus Watson and Mike Siegman made the trip, and Kelly got dragged into the web of us plastic fanatics. Darryl Gassaway was there, of course, and he brought his Friend Hans from Sweeden to the show. It was a great show, I wish we got there earlier, and snags some kits. I was amazed as usual with all the fantastic builds You guys build some unreal models And there were some great young youth builders there too So, here's the link to the pics, I am uploading them now as I type this, so you may get incomplete files for a while: NNL West Photos
  6. I hope you guys aren't going to let a little snow stop you from going to NNL Wesr!!!! We are leaving HI tonight on red eye Get your okole,s to the show!!!!!!
  7. The label is a secret code that only I know :-) Seriously, I have no idea what it means, I think it's the code for the software that is used to print the labels. You will get a notice two issues before your subscription expires. If you didn't get a notice, you have at least two issues left. Hope this helps. And thank you for your support, and patience.
  8. Who is Jairus? Never heard of him.....
  9. That is way too cool!! I was wondering if they would be steering/driving the boats on left side of the lake though? welcome, and let's see more of the boats!!!
  10. Thanks, Richard. There's a trick to getting the magazine for free: become a regular contributor!!!! And, for anyone who is a regular contributor, and is not getting a comp copy, email me with your current address and I will have you put on our comp list. Email me thanks, Steve!!! okay i pau for the day...
  11. Call the office. 303.296.1600 and have them check your status. I think that's the number..... There is a toll-free number too, somewhere.....
  12. Thanks, Guys! And Harry, I should have caught that one too. Most of the time I am reading the proofs the old-fashioned way, backwards! Yes, matches me perfectly, but that's the way I was taught way back when. As for dissing me, yes, I won't sit down and take it anymore, or rather, lay down. Everyone knows my situation, and if you continue to bash me, I will ban, delete, and send you to forever never never land. Golden Bell Press does not pay for, run, administer, monitor, moderate, or otherwise participate in this online forum. I have set this up, paid for, and managed it as a courtesy to those who are considered by me and others as a part of the MCM Ohana. Every single penny that has gone into this forum has come from my own pockets. No one else's. If you want to cancel your subscription, I have said before, fine, I will personally send you a cashier's check in the amount of your complete original subscription cost to you. Just send me an email to gregg@modelcarsmag.com. I will not stand for the dissing anymore. Please show some respect for someone who bends over backwards for each and every one of you.... Well, it's a figure of speech (not free speech, mind you), I wish I could bend backwards (my ROM is -0 degrees)
  13. I hope. I have my surgery consult on Monday at UCSF Have to see if there will be any pre-tests they want to do, but so far, yes. And yes, my friends, Kelly will be with me. I need someone to push the wheelchair, right? Just kiddin' on the chair guys. Not yet, at least.... Danno, hop in your brand new Bentley and drive over..... geez......... And watch your language. Don't make me have Harry hammer you! :-) Okay, I pau where did I put that.........
  14. Jim Keeler, is well, Jim. He was instrumental in many of the early Aurora and Revell kits, he will be glad to tell you all about them. Jairus Watson is, well, Jairus :-) One of the best automotive illustrators in the country (yes, Harry is too, but I've known Jairus longer :-)) Mike Siegman was one of the S's in S&S Specialties, one of the early photoetched companies that led the way in our hobby. Big D, Darryl, is our west coast editor/photographer, and Mr. Lower Left Coast Gregg is well, oh, never mind. He's nobody....
  15. Jim Keeler is coming in from Salt Lake City for the NNL West on February 26, 2011 in Santa Clara, California. And, hold on to your hats everyone, Jairus Watson is coming in as another one of our special guests from Oregon! Mike Siegman will be there, and our lovable California editor, Darryl Gassaway will be bringing in a guest from Europe. So, grab your coats, pack up your models, and head on down to the San Fran area for the biggest and one of the best shows on the west coast on February 26, 2011! Who knows who else may show up!!!!
  16. Great news Jim! Now, I hope you don't get a heart attack when you get the bill....

  18. Please have patience when the issues are mailed out Everyone does not receive them at the same time It's the old Power of Six theory that I worked out years ago, with PF. If there are six readers in the same zip code drop zone, they get bundled up together in one sack, and delivered to the local Post Office/Distribution Center, and they get there usually within a week. If there are not, lets say John and Fred live in the same state, but way different zip code drop zones. Then, John and Fred's copies are bundled up with Bod, Frank, and everyone else in that same first three number zip code drop center, goes to the periodical processing center, which then gets processed and sorted to another route, which then gets sent to the local PO, which then gets sent to the local carrier. It's a double power of six: If there are not six in the zip code zone, then it goes through at least six other processing plants/Post Offices before your carrier gets it. We ran tests with this, and it was pretty accurate. No, I'm not trying to push you to run out and get five of your local club buddies to subscribe, so you get the mag faster, but heh, why didn't I think of that!!!! pau
  19. I do have a few of the original issues available. This will also be one of the ones available as a digital version. It's not a true PDF, it is a scanned, optimized, and OCR'd version. We were not DTP back then. I remember those days, doing everything, from start to finish, myself. Printing the proofs, printing the films, stripping, and then laying plates on the press I am so glad I did that, from start to finish on one issue. I don't of that many who can say that they have done that, from start to finish, the old school way. Those were the days. now, it's press a button and you pau. el jeffe... Dan, watch your back my friend :-) EditorsCornerMCM1.pdf
  20. There is an e-version of the mag coming, it's geared towards those new young techies and the overseas mates. There is a huge market out there for the computerically inclined and digitalologists out there It won't be free, I am not that rich, or even partially.... It's a supplement to the mag, for those who want it that way NO, NO, NO. NOT A REPLACEMENT I don't want to beat that dead horse again, and again, and again. I really don't understand the thinking that always comes up with the issue of an e-version. Can't you read my lips: NOT A REPLACEMENT!!! Wait, that didn't go well for da Bush man!!! Sorry, bad joke. go lay down yes sir k, pau Thanks for all the support guys I hope this puts to rest this issue,.... bad pun
  21. I usually don't respond to these posts, mainly because I don't like to get into my personal problems and issues of day-to-day living. In a nutshell, it's like this. Yes, I have a back problem. Yes, a lot of other people also have back problems, sometimes "severe" back pain. But, do you know what it's like to not be able to move or get out of bed until 3:00, p.m. sometimes? Or, waking up in so much sweat, only to find out that it's not sweat? Or, standing up, taking a step, and noticing that your legs refused to follow you, and you land face down on the floor, or more often than not, cracking your head or face on the side of the table? Or, not being able to talk a walk with your wife anymore, sit in movie without rocking back and forth, upsetting everyone around you, and forget about flying anymore. Or being on so much pain meds that driving is technically an illegal activity? Yes, I have back problems Five major back surgeries, so far. The next one will be through the front, fuse the spine, flip me over, fix the broken screw/plate, and then go up, and down, one more level. And then, of course, another year of meds, say goodbye to the liver my friend! And to top it off, State Farm is denying the claim, which will leave us in about $135,000 in the hole for the surgeries, not counting the meds, therapy, and possibly another chair. So, yes, I'm late, and I'm sorry Why don't I pass the mag to someone else? Well, it's my magazine. I started it. Over ten years ago. There are not many out there who can say the same thing. Yes, there are print on demand "magazines" out there, but it's not the same. Some even try to pass theirs off as a "book" instead of a magazine, go figure. Yes, I know some of you are so pissed off, and complain every time the mag is late, and I'm sorry, truly sorry. If you are really that mad, and upset, please email me and I will personally refund your unused subscription monies. There are other reasons the mag is late, but that's being worked on. We are not a huge publication company. We do everything in house, or more to the point, Golden Bell Press prints, mails, and handles the subscriptions for MCM. I do everything else. I pay for this forum, from my own funds, not GBP, not subscribers, me. Believe me, with the recent hack that we had, I am so far in debt it's not funny. How much? It will surpass five grand easy when pau. So why should you keep on reading MCM? I can't tell you that. If you don't feel that you are part of the MCM ohana, please have some respect, at least a little, and move on. I started MCM because of my love of model cars. It got me through my first three back surgeries, back in the late eighties, and now, it's biting me in the okole again. Seriously, if you are that unhappy, please go elsewhere. If you don't get, or understand, the ohana that MCM is, and has, then obviously, MCM is not for you. If all you want to do is complain, that's your kuliana, I can't change that, nor do I want to. This site has always been the informal portal for the MCM ohana. I guess some get confused and think that the big mega company Golden Bell Press pays for all the bills, and as such, they should control what the forum is about. Wrong. Like I said, this forum, the web site, all the online stuff, are my pennies, and I do it not because I have to, but because I want to. Yes, I could give it all up, however no one would carry it on. You see, I started MCM and it has always been my baby, and always will be. The only way it would get passed on is if something happens during surgery, and Kelly has all that info, if and when it's needed. I am so proud of so many of you that have become such close and personal friends of mine. How many times have I been able to swing by someone from the forum's house, eat dinner, and even crash over night (on the floor of course!), I don't think you can say that about any other editor/publisher out there. Yes, MCM is different, that's what makes MCM so different, it is different. I know Harry is pulling his teeth all the time, wanting to get the mag out on time, and we will, but you have to remember, that in the end, it is supposed to be a hobby, and fun, and let's not ever lose sight of that. There are a lot of changes coming in the next few months, and all of them will be good. There are some subtle changes, that will help with the production and timing of the mag. We did try going to the numbered issues only for a short short while, but that didn't work. In the next month (or two), we will be back on schedule. and then there will be other things to complain about. As for the covers for the mag, I did a post a while ago about the economics of it, and a quick search should bring that post/topic up. Okay, that's the longest I have been able to sit up and type for a long time, and I will be down for a while now. I know that there are a least a dozen eyeballs rolling up into their sockets right about now, gomen nasai. I know, this is no way to run a magazine, it's not professional, you have no idea what you are doing, etc., etc. etc. You are probably right. We don't rely on advertising revenue to survive. Most of our advertising is done as a service for the model car builder, reader, and collectors out there. The show ads, I don't think I have ever charged anyone a penny for any show ad, even the full color NNL West ones, and look.... never mind, I won't go there. sorry, that slipped, I won't do that again, I promise. Wait, meds kicking in? Yes, sorry I thought you were going down? Yes, sorry okay, I pau..... that, my friends, is me, in a nut shell. Yes, the shell is a nut, and that's me. I know, I know......
  22. Thank you my friend! Of course, it all couldn't happen without Harry's magic!
  23. Great work Roger, as usual! Don't forget, I am putting on the Second Annual Hawaii NNL March 13, Ala Moana Hotel! And we'll be expecting you at GSL, of course?
  24. One of the most beautiful cars ever made. You did a great job, serving the car justice!
  25. Yes, advertising would help It's funny though. Last time I tried to purchase an ad in another magazine, I was told no. Go figure! I will try and save my pennies and do a pitch or two to some of the "real" mags, like Hot Rod, Rod & Custom, and the Goodguys Gazette. Thanks, Steve. I appreciate your taking the effort to help the site out, despite any flares that may have started at first. mahalo nui loa
