  6. KNOCK IT OFF Enough already I really think that picture is offensive, I will not allow that, or any other type of offensive pictures here. Don't ask about what it was, or to see it. Bring it up, you will get banned. KNOCK IT OFF
  7. For everyone who has been yelling at me to get the ignore feature fixed, I fixed it. It took over two hours to do. Here is the code: static public function isIgnorable( $member_group_id, $mgroup_others, $type='post' ) { if( ! isset( ipsRegistry::$settings['_unblockableArray'] ) OR ! is_array( ipsRegistry::$settings['_unblockableArray'] ) ) { ipsRegistry::$settings['_unblockableArray'] = ipsRegistry::$settings['cannot_ignore_groups'] ? explode( ",", IPSText::cleanPermString( ipsRegistry::$settings['cannot_ignore_groups'] ) ) : array(); } $myGroups = array( $member_group_id ); if ( $mgroup_others ) { $myGroups = array_merge( $myGroups, explode( ",", IPSText::cleanPermString( $mgroup_others ) ) ); } /* Check PMs first */ if ( $type == 'pm' ) { $unblockable = explode( ",", ipsRegistry::$settings['unblockable_pm_groups'] ); /* Override with groups */ if ( is_array( $unblockable ) AND count( $unblockable ) ) { if ( in_array( $member_group_id, $unblockable ) ) { return FALSE; } } } foreach( $myGroups as $member_group ) { if ( in_array( $member_group, ipsRegistry::$settings['_unblockableArray'] ) ) { return FALSE; } } return TRUE; } Now, since I did all this work, and have not been able do anything else, please send your checks in the amount of $19.95, each, to my P.O. Box. In the alternative, you can go out and buy and new model, AND BUILD IT!!! Enough already Knock it off Any more complaints, and I won't even think twice about the ban key, or even the delete key And Mike, sorry for nailing you on that. I did what I did cause I saw what I saw. That's all I pau
  8. Welcome to Model Cars Magazine's wildly popular online forum. We have some of the best writers, builders, and model car enthusiasts here on the forum, and we would like to keep the forum as open and friendly as possible. With that said, the basic rules are keep it clean, be courteous to others, watch your spelling and grammar, and of course, have fun! I can guarantee that you will learn something here, even on your first visit. You will also meet and make some great new friends. All we ask is to respect each other, and us, of course, and treat this as a place you would like to call home, for your model car needs, of course. If you have any problems with other members of the board, please bring it up to the moderators of the board, send a Report via the topic or thread, or send me an email. Email me. Mahalo, and enjoy our ohana Gregg Hutchings Editor Model Cars Magazine
  9. Lee, I do take this a sarcastic comment, and one that I don't appreciate. If there were to be a digital one, it would have to be done AFTER the printed one. Just the way things work in the process of printing. Now, those in the "biz" don't try and correct me on this. This is how it works for us. I go off the pre-press final PDF's, not what I send them.
  10. I don't like you anymore.......
  11. Here's the thing guys. Jimmy, I really do appreciate your enthusiasm for the hobby, and I want to personally thank you for sharing your builds, tips, and tricks with us. However, please take some time to re-read your posts and correct the spelling and grammar. I, as most of us here, do not like to see the number 2 used in place of two. For one (not 1), it shows a lack of respect for the English language. Sure it may be easier to type 2, but it really makes your post look like it was written by someone who does not care about themselves, or others. This is a public forum, read by many, many, many people, and it is a representation of the magazine. Same goes for putting a z at the end of words And finally, yes, a Kustom is generally a lead-sled type of car that has been customized, mild or wild. As for that Vette, I would say no, but that's my opinion. This is a learning experience, I would say, and don't take anything said here personally. Just learn from it, and I can almost guarantee you will be pleased with the results. As for those who are into slamming, dissing, and basically calling out others, knock it off. If someone wants to call something something, that's their kuliana. It's okay to bring up references to point out something, and hopefully it will be a positive thing, to where it's like, "oh wow, I didn't know that!" and all the world is fine. Okay, I pau....
  12. John, you can call the Denver office and ask for Sherri, she handles all the subscriptions and back orders. Here's my question for you, John, and everyone else. How would you feel about getting one year of Model Cars digitally/online? If you are for that, what would be your price point? I have a new vendor lined up for the digital versions of the magazine. DON"T GO SCREAMING AND CRYING EVERYONE!!!! I am not GOING digital. I am creating a digital version of the printed magazine. I really don't understand why I see and hear so many people screaming, crying, and often times yelling that a digital version of the magazine means the end of things as they know it. To me, it's a plus. It is not replacing the magazine. It's offering another version/option of it. Your thoughts and opinions? Phil, sorry for hijacking your thread.
  13. Gabe, don't make me fly, I mean hobble, over there an' hit yah! It usually takes six to eight weeks to receive the first issue (whenever that will be) And with three double issues per year (Feb/March, May/June, and Aug/Sept), sometimes the timing of things gets in the way. Plus, with dimwit (moi) laid up now, the schedule is once again all askew. I know it should be easy to put together an issue, but the back end of it is what takes the longest (pardon the unintentional pun/reference). I have to get all the ads in order, make sure they are correct, contact the advertisers (both of them) (sorry, bad joke, there's three of them) (enough of the parenthesis) (I Know).... where was I???? So, yes, it's Gregg's lame old excuses again, and again, and again. But who else do you know that has published a magazine independently for over ten years now, on a shoe-string budget, with only a hand full (Harry's tall, he fits in one hand) of people doing the production/design work, and given the logistics of where everyone is, it's amazing that this thing gets done at all! Ask Harry, he has had to wait almost half a year sometimes for his peanuts.....wait, that would be one peanut.... So, is there hope? Yes, of course. I have everything set up at home where I can work all day laying down on a tempur-pedic adjustable bed, with a swing-away monitor, wireless keyboards and mouses (mices?) and almost everything I need to get the last 99% of the mag finished, and I should be able to be productive, I hope. If I go back in for number Six, then things will have to be reconsidered then. I hope that answers the questions brought up, with a Thank you to Phil for signing up online. You should receive the newest issue very soon, and then we are once a month until Feb/March, which should be out ahead of time. That's my story, and I'm sticking to it.
  14. Ken, THANK YOU!!!!! You are my new best friend...
  15. Thanks, Gerry I'm sorry I didn't get to make it this year. Thanks for keeping up up to date.
  16. More than you can ever imagine. Now don't go getting your boxers all up in a not, it's not changes to the forum (well nothing that you will see), but to the main MCM site, which I hope everyone will spend time on once it's pau. Sorry missed you at Toledo, if you went.
  17. Matthew, that is a good point and thanks for bringing that up. I will double check all the links in the new MCM site coming out the end of the month.
  18. I'm sorry I missed you guys, and everyone else at Toledo. Hopefully soon......
  19. I was hoping to get something from him and Tom soon! Thanks for the reminder.
  20. I would not use the back side of a poster The poster will show through The backdrops I use at shows are usually picked up at Office Depot or Staples there by the show. I like the semi-gloss white ones. Also get some bounce cards, you can make a bunch of them from foam core, mounted to those small easel stands, or just use paint cans to hold them up. I have done a few articles on the photo setups I use at shows. I don't remember off hand which issues they were in. The PVC works great, that is my simple home stand set up also. I think Iz did an article on one, and Alex did one on using a simple box. The key is to use a camera that you can set the F-Stop (aperture), to the highest setting, which with the point and shoots out there now is only F8 Any questions, just ask. Send sample pics along the way too.
  21. I love this topic!! Keep it coming guys!!!! and gals, too!
  22. Who else is building one? I have one, thanks, Peter, I hope to get on it, ah, er, well....... Great job Curt! Kudo's to Mr. Lombardo!!!!!
