Thanks, guys!! -
email me and I can send a PayPal invoice. I will try to do new pictures tonight of the shirts. Cafe Press' profit margin is way too small. It's not worth it for me to do that way.

Call out for New Products
Gregg replied to Gregg's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Thanks, Chris! And Danno, go to your room.... -
If you have any new products you want reviewed in the What's New section of Model Cars Magazine, and on the web site (not just the forum), please send them in to me as soon as possible. I am looking for anything new, from resin, detailing products, paints, etc., that you want to promote. The response that we have gotten from companies that have their products featured have always been good, if not great. A lot of times, there has only been reference to the piece in MCM as the reason for the sale or referral. I strongly believe it's because I stand behind the products we review. If I can't see them in my hands, try them out, and see how they are in the real world, and not just by pictures or web site links, people know that I have rubbed my grubby little hands all over them and have tried them. That's my story, and I'm sticking to it. So, get your new products in now, so we can fill the pages of MCM with great new stuff!!!!

You guys are sick. Leave my meds out of this

I should have them in time for GSL. It's just the shipping them to Hawaii makes them too expensive, so if I can have them sent to me at a show, then I can bring them back on the plane, and hopefully sell a whole bunch at the show. Once they are back here then can sell them online. Thanks for the interest. There should be more MCM goodies soon as well. I did get a new batch of X-Large and XX-Large MCM Black T-Shirts. They now have the newer MCM logo on the left chest area. $17 plus $3 for shipping.

Outrageous shipping charges!!
Gregg replied to Evil Appetite's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Paul, I like the YouTube video idea. I'm glad I thought of that I have run ads in MCM for years, full pages and smaller. Amazon won't work because it's an auction based site. They are interested in the mag though, but the cut is way to high. -
e komo mai, John. The Tamiya paints are great, and a lot of guys here use nothing but them. Airbrushes are great tools, but preparation is the key. Sanding the seam lines, make sure the body is clean, and start with a light coat of Tamiya primer. Sand the primer, then one last coat Then, lay down the color, in even, light coats. I sure the guys here can point you to a few threads that have some great how-to's, and our own Alex Kustov has done quite a few online how-to's on painting that you will find most useful. Enjoy your new friends here, and welcome to the ohana.

Outrageous shipping charges!!
Gregg replied to Evil Appetite's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I think I will go to a fee, maybe percentage up to $10, then $1 after that. I'll run a spreadsheet later, to see what it will be like. Thanks for all the input. -

Guys, I have a question on this online auction issue. As you know, I have had eModelCars going for a few years now, and it has not really caught on. I want to start an advertising campaign for it, but to do that, it will take some money to fund it. So, here's the issue. EMC has always been free, free to list, to post, free pics, to sell, buy, etc. But, if I have to start paying for the advertising campaign, I'm going to have to start charging a fee. Now, don't fall off the horse yet. My thought is this. eBay charges you a fee for everything you do, including burping. I am thinking of only one fee, one time, when the item sells. And it's only a dollar, $1.00 Does that sound reasonable? Or should I make it a percentage of the final item? Or, leave it alone? If I leave it alone, I'm not going to spend the money on ad campaigns, I am not a Rockefeller, I'm just a nice feller, that lives on a rock... Thoughts? Sorry to take over your thread, but it kind of fits, yes? k, I pau... -

Thanks, Guys. This is the Model Cars Magazine forum, and if that doesn't explain the reason why things should be the way they are, I don't know what to say. If you want to diss MCM, do it elsewhere, please. If you want to diss another mag, please don't. This is about MCM, and me, of course :-) Me Me Me!!!! Sorry, back to the seriousness. I am in second rounds of discussions with some, well, one newsstand distributer, and it looks good so far. The way trends are now with magazines, they are looking for titles with a long and solid history, and MCM has now been published for going on 12 years. That's not bad considering everything, and that's actually amazing when you look deep into the soul of MCM. Not many titles worldwide can say this, and I think MCM has done pretty darn well with all things considered. Yes, I'm late, and so full of excuses. But like so many here have said, you think you could do better? I see new startup mags all the time, and the pay-as-you-go mags are nothing more than fads, in my humble opinion. I mean, ten bucks for a thirty-something page magazine? (No offense my old friend, you know I love you still, right?) It's more of a boutique thing, and yes, there is a place for it, and yes, we will be pursuing that in the future. Isn't that contradicting myself? No, not really. There are going to be times when this will work well, especially when it's a short run, like some stuff we have planned. So, that's all for today. I hope. I am still waiting for the results from the surgery consult last week in San Fran. No word on that yet. I don't think no news is good news in this case. Also, if you do get a torn up mag, call the office, they will send out a replacement right away. I did a long post before about the economics of this issue (no pun intended), and I think it covered all the points clearly. Okay, now I pau...
