If you have ever wanted your own tech block to help tune your slot cars, check out this feature article on the MCM web site: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/wp/red-line-tech-block/ I love it, and it has helped big time with a lot of my cars.

A Pair of Ferraris 50 years apart (458 and 250SWB)
Gregg replied to Matt Bacon's topic in WIP: Model Cars
I wonder if resistance soldering on the grille would work? Sounds like it would be an interesting one to try. Thoughts? I have used the resistance soldering on photoetched rear wings before, nothing since then. Time to get that article going. -

How important are panel lines to you?
Gregg replied to edward smith's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Vince, buddy, that made me laugh! mahalo my friend!!! -
I was going to edit some of the comments, (ie: delete/hide), but then I thought about it. I will leave them up, but I will add my two cents. I have a quote from someone here on the forum (sorry, I can't remember who it was from, please email me), that said this: "Any model built by a kid/youngster is a great model" I think that sums the attitude that we all should have. And enforce it, push it, and make it part of our mantra. I have some projects going on that expand on this, with the help of some members here, and that will hopefully bring a lot more young builders into our hobby. Imagine how you would have felt, say back in the '60s or '70s when you started building models, and some older person told you your models weren't good enough. Would you have continued building models? I for one am not part of the younger-start model builders. I got into this hobby after my second back surgery, as a form of therapy. I didn't build model cars when I was younger, although I did build a few airplanes to blow up on Fourth Of July! Think about what you say before you say it (or type it). You never know what type of influence you may have on someone by negative comments. You can't unring a bell. Okay, I pau....

Thanks to Marcos (and his feature article coming soon in MCM), I did a quick once-over with the 2009 Revell Challenger that I was building before. I love the difference. I will say this: Don't give up after your first attempt. Practice makes perfect, or something like that... -
1959 VW 23 Window Deluxe Microbus wheel mount
Gregg replied to tiking's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
They loved watching us straddle the tire between our legs to put the wheels on. Service advisors used to have a name for us doing that, which I won't divulge here.... -
Marty, psst, CAPS!!! The favorites may have to be recached, which is done through your browser. IP tech fixed the problem that was brought on the forum topics, that works now. Any other bugs, let me know, email is best: gregg@modelcarsmag.com It's getting there.

seam lines, flash, and detailing
Gregg replied to 62rebel's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I re-read a post here, and it kind of irked me. Under the rules for the "On The Workbench", it states: Rules for On The Workbench For those viewing others who are presenting their works in progress in this section of the forum, please keep your criticisms, sarcasms, and other comments to yourself, unless the builder/poster has specifically asked for such replies. Not everyone here wants to be criticized, critiqued, or cut down. Some people just want to show off what they have built; and they are probably very proud of it. What gives you the right to cut someone down just because you don't like the way he finished it, prepped it, painted it, or think the color is wrong? That is not what this forum is about. It's about sharing your work, making new friends, enjoying the hobby, and having fun. I agree with Mr. Garner, the forum has really turned into a very hostile place, but I hope is changing. I don't understand why people have to be like that, the only thing that comes to mind is some form of a narcissistic personality disorder. But, that's just me, and my unrealistic and overly optimistic attitude and way of life. -
seam lines, flash, and detailing
Gregg replied to 62rebel's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
This is great! Everyone is having back-and-forth discussions on a topic, everyone is showing everyone else respect in their own opinions, this is the way the forum should operate. If anyone, and I mean anyone, posts something that is so mindless, "trolling" or other of senseless replies that have turned so many away from this site, immediate action will be taken against the person, resulting in a complete deletion of the account, and a full ban of the associated IP's. Everyone had a great say on this topic, except for one that I deleted, and I am proud of you guys. Well done! hana ho! -
Thanks. I'll look into this Strange little things are showing up

IP tech said it's a custom skin template issue, which is bogus, since I'm only using the default skin, but since I added the MCM logo, and the tabs, it's now a custom skin, and not covered by their tech support That is probably the dumbest thing I have ever heard, but that's just my two cents. Those two changes are probably the most common changes to any board out there: why they don't incorporate those changes or possibilities into the equation is beyond me. Okay, I pau. UPDATE. Since it don't work, I turned it off. Now I pau...

Jacen, it may be a cache thingee. Can you reset your cache on your browser? I have reset cache on board admin Birthdays are back It was a permission thingee sorry about that Have you seen the new features in the calendar? You can download to iCal on your Mac, and it will show up as a separate calendar, Model Car Shows/Events. There are even options for attending, pretty cool! The updates seem to have a lot of cool hidden stuff in them. As for the prior deletion issue/problem/member, don't worry about, it's taken care of.

Crazed over feedback
Gregg replied to MAGNUM4342's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I agree. Although, I have been known to forget to leave feedback as a seller, I try to leave positive instantly if the buyer paid instantly. As a buyer, I have received the "demand" from sellers that they won't leave feedback until I do, although I paid instantly. So, I cut and paste their "demand" verbatim, and then they go ballistic. I say if a buyer pays instantly, yes, his obligation is fulfilled, and should be left feedback right then and there. But, like I said, I have forgotten some more than I should admit, and that's not right either. -
Thanks. Sent request into tech, see what they say. strange......

uh, yeah, I put that right under the caption/title of it

With the recent update/upgrade to the forum, some issues have come to light. For the Birthdays, if there are no birthdays that day, there are no birthdays that day. I increased the size limits for uploading photos, hopefully that helps out. Turned back on the ability to hide/delete your own topics/posts. Let me know if that doesn't work right. Turned off ability to change name. This is the reason the board went down. There was a name change done before, and with over 8,000 posts by the member, the table got corrupted when trying to delete the account. So, no more name changes. Also, going to be revising the rules and guidelines a bit. Will post those when they are finalized. Just updates the warning system (which has always been in place, just may not have been visible to everyone else). If you have seen other quirks or problems, please send them to me by email: gregg@modelcarsmag.com
