  1. Indiana here too! Columbus. 45 mins. south of ya. My grandparents moved here from GOOD OL' KENTUCKY!! I love it there. So beautiful!! Especially in the fall.. I think a road trip is in order!... See ya'll later...
  2. I've thought about building a rack from some extra cedar I got layin around. Just need to get off mah butt and go do it I guess. YES the R/C hobby is very expensive!!!! I had a few when I was like 17 or 18. Never really thought about how expensive it was un til ALL of my R/C stuff got stolen... Had it all in a big box in the back room buried and one day I thought "Maybe I'll get everything out and clean it up and take it out for a spin" and it was GONE!!!! Along with all of my expensive fishin poles and reels.. HATE THIEVES! So much fun though.. miss playin with my R/C cars and trucks. Now I just play with BIG trucks! A little harder to steal. And for thinkin I saw MOPAR- I thought the one on the left case top shelf far right was an old GTX. And yes, Willys has been owned by many different companies, and I am very happy where they are now though!!! Now that I really looked, I can tell I have no idea what it is. I really love your set-up! Im very impressed with how organized and serious that room looks! I believe you have enough kits that keeping a "database" on your kits is not a bad idea. I just never thought I'd see someone who needed a database for model cars.. I take it you sell them too?? For my project after the daytona I was thinking maybe and old school Chevy Muscle truck with a John Deere paint scheme. Love John Deere. Thanks for the great pics.. ABE DOOLEY
  3. If I had only saw this site before that event. I live here in Columbus,Indiana, about 45 mins. south of Indy. I have never been to a model show/contest before. I had no clue they even went on until I joined this site. I've been building since I was at least ten or so. Now I'm 27 and I had NO CLUE that it was this involved. I feel like I missed out on SO MUCH!! When I ran into this site I was looking for someone who might make some custom wheels and tires. Little did I know that I was about to have my mind blown by what I have seen on THIS site and by all the stuff I have run across on the web. If theres anything going on soon in the Idiana area soon, PLEASE LET ME KNOW.... Thanks. ABE DOOLEY
  4. Very true about supporting your womans hobby. She loves to scrap book and every time I go out and buy something for my hobby I try to buy something for hers! It works until I forget about her. She still picks at me and makes fun sometimes, but its all in fun and I do the same to her. Everything else we do together and with the boys. It really is stress reducer. Sometimes its just nice to get in that zone and not look back! Now that I've thought about it -I've even cut down on my meds since I started doing models again.
  5. I could see her when I was rompin the blazer and the look on her face when I hit that hole and came out of it Dukes Of Hazard style was absolutely priceless!! Too bad I couldnt enjoy it in front of her!! The Roadmaster is my baby though! I hardly drive her often. Its a mean machine for being a grandpa's cruiser! I thought about painting the honda orange and putting a rebel flag on top and naming it the "GENERAL HONDA"! HAHA!! I had alot of fun in that lil' ol' honda. She took about 7 years of hell from me. I still hear it go "beep beep" sometimes! Poor Honda. I never even named 'er.
  6. MY GOOD LAWD!!! You have more kits than my local HOBBY LOBBY!!! That aint no joke!!! The only thing I have is the '70 Dodge Challenger I am currently working on and a '69 Dodge Daytona!! Thats just because I wont be able to afford anymore until maybe mid-fall!! So theres no real rush. Making sure everything is as perfect as "I" can get it. I did get impatient when i started the paint on my Challenger and forgot to tape ANYTHING off so I just ordered another body and changed the paint scheme I was going with. Had to strip the paint off the hood and front and rear facias. I started with krylon's "Textured Shimmer" black hoping it want TOO textured and it turned out to be like 60 grit sandpaper. Needless to say I just decided to go with another paint scheme, Gloss black and red stripes up the hood and down to the body line and back. I just cant believe how many kits most of you guys have laying around! Makes my head spin! I think I see MOPAR?? Nice pics Cal. Thanks for the support. I think Im gonna go buy one of those mats as soon as I can afford the twenty-something dollars.
  7. WOW!!! TALK ABOUT ORGANIZED!!! I'm impressed! I wish I had enough stuff to fill a room that big!!! Those shop towels work wonders for our kinda hobby. I see you have a heated massge seat. Spend much time in that there chair??? LOVE your display cases. Do I see MOPAR?? I've been wondering what a single mans workshop would look like!! HaHa!! What kind of paints are those, and are those "spice racks" or are they for paints? I have been wanting to get a spice rack or paint rack like that for my paints as well. I've also been very curious as to what everyone has in their lil' parts drawers. VERY NICE DAVKIN!!
  8. CAN ANYONE SAY 4WHEEL AND OFFROAD JAMBOREE??!!??!! YEEEHHHHAAAAAWWWWWW!!!! HILLBILLIES RULE!! Cant wait fer the Jamboree this year!! I've been every year since I was 9. I'm 27 now. Northern by birth, SOUTHERN by choice!! I love southern people! They may carry weapons, but as long as you're not a threat, they'll do whatever they can fer ya! And to whoever thinks the civil war was racial- YOU NEED TO PICK UP A BOOK AND RE-READ THAT CHAPTER IN AMERICAN HISTORY!! Blacks fought side-by-side with the confederates by choice! We'd have it made if the south would have won!! They fought for THEIR rights that were being taken away as they are now!!! ###### YANKEES!!! As far as self-protection goes- ITS BETTER TO OWN A GUN AND NEVER NEED IT THAN NOT TO OWN A GUN AND NEED IT!!! My firearm of choice is the Smith And Wesson 500 MAGNUM! Never have to worry about jamming when your life depends on it! It'll blow the intruder right back out the door! This thing is a monster! You'll think before you fire!! ABE DOOLEY
  9. I thought about doin a search for other ones, but I wanted to do an updated one. Does it hurt to do extra threads??? I always hear some people complain about multiple posts, but I dont understand why?? Arent they all a lil' different?? I'm gonna check the other ones out too. I'm lovin what I'm seeing here. Not at all what I expected.. I thought I'd see alot of big "workshops". Most of you guys have as much or less room than I do. But then again, I dont have half the stuff you guys have got. Oh, and marcus cruz...is that what I think it is hanging under the picture posted on the wall by your spray booth?? What is the white cylinder to the right of your desk on the white cabinet? I saw your pic of you and Boyd. Alot of people thought he was an a## hole, but I think most of it was how they made him look on TV. Plus, do you thing you'd be happy-go-lucky all of the time if you had to meet those kinds of deadlines?? I wish I could spray inside. I have to go out to the shed and most of the time its rainin when I want to spray. I thought about just getting a big box and putin a filter and then a fan on top or back and pipin it out of the window. I dont know how well that would work though. I cant tell but I think thats pretty much how you have yours set up marcus.. are you using a really strong fan?? WOW jones! Like night and day between those pics! Organized mess?? Thats how mine looks after I finally got to sit down and do something. Can someone please explain to me about the green mats?? I saw some at hobby lobby and noticed that they are heat resistant and wondered what you guys used them for mainly. Is it to just mainly keep from cutting up your desk and making straight cuts?? Or is there some trick to them? I've noticed almost everyone has one. Wondering if I should dish out the money for one or not. I've also noticed that ALL of you guys have boxes upon boxes of (from what I can tell) extra parts. And LOTS of kits in progress or still in boxes. Thanks guys. ABE DOOLEY
  10. MOPAR!!! MOPAR!!! MOPAR!!! MOPAR!!! MOPAR!!! MOPAR!!! NEED I SAY MORE????
  11. I cant stand tornado season! It never bothered me until we bought this trailor. What model is your spray booth? It looks very nice. I wish I had the money to buy one. I have a badger model 350 I have never used before that is previously used. I need to replace the cone be fore I can use it. I also need an air compressor badly. I have never used an airbrush before. I want to learn so bad. I realy want to get into pinstriping, my favorite art form of all arts! Theres something about making beautiful pieces of art out of lines. Either straight, curvy, swirly, or long lines, I just cant help myself to stare at it for hours upon hours! I just need to break down and spend a couple hundred bucks and go buy a compressor and a pinstriping starter kit. Anyway... Very nice work from what I can see in your work area. ABE DOOLEY
  12. I'm lovin all the muscle, work in progress, and the totally sentimental cars, trucks, and what the hell was that, that everyone has shown on here. Now its time for something laid-back, something fun, and something I had TOO much fun in! First up is my new/old baby! A 1993 Buick Roadmaster. This thing has ALL the bells and whistles. Everything is power. It has a big 350 S.B. Chevy V8 that can ,and does, turn over them there stock aluminum hubcap wires. This thing is THE ultimate cruiser! Its like ridin' on a cloud. BIG car for a BIG guy! Next up is my (really its the ol' ladies, but it was mine on this day) '98 Blazer. It was alot of fun until I got carried away and tore the tranny and transfer case out of it. Can anyone say DUKES OF HAZARD??!! I thought I was a dead man! That was the most quietly miserable ride home I ever spent in a truck. If I was out with my other redneck buddies and she wasnt, it would have been funny all the way home. She still gets upset when someone brings it up. That happened nearly 2 years ago! Last but not least, is my favorite lil' corner grabber. I rode this poor lil' honda so rough I went through 2 motors, a complete under body, ball joints (TWICE!), motor mounts (TWICE!), then I tore out the old suspensoin and slapped on EIBACH springs and shocks, cold air intake, and larger injectors and drove the WWHHHHEEEE!!!!! out of it until I blew up the radiator, head gasket, and warped the aluminum head! Still have the suspensoin kit if anyone is interested. Only had about 2,000 miles on the kit before I tore it down and junked it. ABE DOOLEY IF YA AINT WRECKED IT, YA AINT DROVE IT!
  13. Love the before and after of the spray booth Cal. very good. Thats a big booth too. Love the Military ?dodge? you got there. And the women. Love the yellow roll cage LVZ2881. I thought I was the only one who took pics of their workspace. I figured everyone would have to take pics of it right then and then post it. Mines not got paint all over it yet because I havent had the time today to sit down and do anything since I put the new vinyl down. Been running from storms here in southeastern Indiana. Living in a trailor during tornado season SUCKS!!!! BTW... I was in my truck and got caught RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF A SMALL TORNADO today!!! Talk about prayin to god!!! I turned a corner and WHAM!!! couldnt see the car that was ten feet in front of me! I thought the Blazer was gonna flip. I immediately thought back to Twister when the cow went by. HAHA!! I've been shook up all day. Still supposed to have some major storms all night. If I disappear, please, someone finish my '70 Dodge Challenger. Doin good so far guys. Lets keep this goin!
  14. I'm sure when we see some pics of someones work on the "Work table" we ALL wonder, "What in the world was that in the background?!". Well, I do all the time. And I'm quite curious (I'm sure I'm not the only one) to see how everyone works and what kinda lil' doodads everyones made up to help in they're own precedures. I believe we all could learn something from one another and possibly pick up some good tips along the way. I'm REALLY interested into what the BIG DOGS work with to help in their skills. This could get very interesting. I'm gonna put up some pics of my work space and I hope everyone else will follow. If theres any lil' special tools you'd like to explain- GO AHEAD. I'm sure theres gonna be alot of questions about everyones lil' tools and whatnots. Thanks for looking and I hope everyone gets a kick out of this post.. ABE DOOLEY First I'll show where I was working until I got my old desk back that I used to use a long long time ago. Its okay, you can laugh. I was laughing (along with my wife) at myself too. This is much better. And a whole lot more organized. Still have alot of stuff that wont fit in my new area. I've been banished to the kitchen so I wont take up anymore room. Thanks for looking. I hope to see more peoples areas soon.
  15. HAVE YOU GUYS SEEN THE NEW YEAR ONE BURT REUNOLDS TRANS AM????!!!! TALK ABOUT LOVE AT FIRST SITE! Makes me wanna break out the old trusty SMOKEY AND THE BANDIT movie on VHS and blow the dust off of it and wear it out right NOW!!! ..........Its in and playing right now!!! I love that movie.... I LOVE THE CAR MORE THOUGH!!! Your TRANS AM is SWWWEEETTT!!! LOOKS SO REAL. BEAUTIFUL!! Such a great project! Thanks for sharing an awesome build with us, ABE DOOLEY
  16. I ran into that post RIGHT after I posted this.
  17. It felt so good that this was happening until it turned into a circus about scams. I understand what the sceptics felt, but I wish it wouldnt have went down like that. That just ruined it for everybody I think.. Maybe the next time someone asks for help everyone should talk about this in a more decent way and not throw accusations out there before they know whats fully going on. That goes both ways too. Its hard to trust anyone anymore. Some people will do anything to get something for nothing, including using children to do it. Just look at all the scams that popped up after 9/11 and hurricane Katrina. That just shows you how sick and twisted this world has become. Everyone should learn from this and remember to check things thoroughly before saying its scam or not. And do it in a descent way. I mean, this really was for the children and I just hope they dont know about anything that went on here before they got the gifts from all the wonderful people that gave without recieving. And to all the people who did give, you are a prime example that there are still whole-hearted good people left in this sick sick world. Are they not taking anymore gifts?? I didnt see this post until last night and if they are i need to go get something tomorrow for one of the children.
  18. LOVE IT! Great work man. Ya gotta love the conversion as if it was a real rig. Keep it up. ABE
  19. Well.... Since I had a brain fart and jones reminded me I'll put a few on here so no one has to go to my photobucket page. New body same hood. Bringing the stripes down and along the body line. I wanted to paint the seats in ghost grey, but I might just do all black and do it right on my Daytona and the rest of them from here on out. Here you can see the paint. I used krylon's texture shimmer hoping it wasnt too textured. Turned out to be like 60 grit sandpaper!! Many coats of Future in my future. New body masked like it should have been in the first place. Not too sure about masking off the molding though?? Any advice?
  20. I KNEW THAT!!! WHY DIDNT I REMEMBER???!!! Thanks for the reminder jones...
  21. SWEET!!! I thought that was cool!! I also saw MANY more color schemes I loved. Heres a few more. Ireally like this paint scheme. Its a little advanced for me though unless I can find a decal that big. I may have to do 2 Daytonas! I think thats a good idea....
  22. Right now I'm working on a '70 Dodge Challenger T/A that I started soon after I got laid-off in March. I started it in a hurry and got carried away and didn't mask anything off on the body so I decided to start over and ordered another body. I just got the body the day before yesterday and I am going to run the stripes from the hood down the body line on the side. I used Krylon's textured shimmer hoping it wouldn't be really textured. Unfortunately its like 60 grit sandpaper. Many coats of Future will need to be applied. Its also my first time using the Future for a top coat so if anyone has any advice on what not to do or what to do, please, I'm all ears! My next project will be a '69 Dodge Charger Daytona. I'm not sure what direction I'm gonna go yet. I'm thinking maybe PLUM CRAZY. I have never seen a plum crazy Daytona before (though I'm sure someone will put a link to one on here now) or maybe sublime green. I'm not sure yet, but I do know that I want it to be something different and bright and maybe TWO-TONE. If anyone has any suggestions for color schemes on that one I'd love to hear it. I love the world of rat-rods and MOPAR. Along with just about everything that has to do with power, whether its a bike or a frame with a seat and a big HEMI. Thanks guys. ABE DOOLEY As usual I cant get my pictures to upload so heres my photobucket page. Sorry guys. I know its a pain in the butt. I'll get it figured out one of these days. http://s133.photobucket.com/albums/q59/abe...y/MODEL%20PICS/
  23. I'm here in Indiana about 45 mins. south of Indianapolis. I'm a huge gearhead and I'm looking for any and all model car contests/shows including full size shows too. With the wealth of knowledge that comes with this site and from all its members, I'm 100% sure someone knows of something ging on in or close to my area. I have never been to a model car contest (didnt even know they had them until I joined this site, pathetic right?) and I am really looking forward to going to one and hopefully meeting anyone from this site. You guys have inspired me to try my hardest to build top quality works of art and have been very helpful in answering any and all questions I have had. I wanna thank you all for hospitality. I have told everyone I know about you guys and this site how much it really feels like family in here. Sincerely, ABE DOOLEY
  24. Its kinda odd that this page went blank for 9 days now... wondering whats going on too. It sounds like a very wonderful thing to do though. If this is a scam, I think we could find a bunch of kids to do this for anyway.. How WONDERFUL would that be??? Having 2 boys myself, I would jump all over something like this and wanna help in anyway I possibly could. Most anyone that has kids must feel the same way. I mean, who wants kids to suffer and feel like they're not supported or loved, especially when they're in a hospital room with doctors and nurses prodding at them all day long.. Could you imagine going through that as a child?? It breaks my big heart to see kids in pain. If one of my boys are sick and miserable, I CANT STAND IT! It tears me apart on the inside out. I couldnt imagine having my kids in a hospital for weeks or months with a serious illness!! Every time I see little INNOCENT children sad and miserable in some white room in a big gloomy hospital it kills me!! I just wanna snatch 'em up and take 'em to a park or something that makes them feel like a kid and not a test subject!! I'll keep an eye on this post to see whats going. I dont have anything on hand, but if it checks out to be an honest deal I'll be going to my local hobby shop and picking up something for some very brave children!!
  25. WOW! I love big rigs too. Never built one though. I've been building for a long while, but I am nowhere near your guys' level. I love your site tim. WOW!!!! I couldnt tell if they were real or not with the "highway setting" you have used. At first I thought, this guy just took some pics of real trucks and put them on here. Absolutely BEAUTIFUL!!! Not only are you VERY talented, you can take some EXCELLENT pics of your rigs!! You both have just inspired me to do a big rig soon! Great Work, ABE DOOLEY
