What do you use for the handle on the oil dipstick?? Would you just flatten the tip of the solder?? I'm already trying way more than I ever have before. Can't wait to finish this build and get started on the Charger Daytona.. -
WOW!!!! THOSE ARE ABSOLUTLY STUNNING!!!!! If I could only be JUST HALF as good as you and everyone else!! The Detail wire looks awesome, you absolutely NAILED it! What gauge is the detail wire??? I really need to get me some of that there detail wire.....

The problem with the emergency blanket is that it isnt foil, its more like a very thin plastic. And if you hold it up to a light you can see through it. I can try it on something, but I dont think I'll get good results either way seeins how I've never used any kinda foil.

I went out and bought some Rub 'N' Buff and I like the way it looks for petina. I also bought Krylon's Silver Leafing Pen and that stuff is awesome. Not as nice as BMF, but ###### close!!! As soon as I get to actually using it I'll post some pics on here.

I thought about the solder, but was afraid it was too brittle. I found some spools of 22, 26, and 30 gauge magnetic wire used for electric motors at Radio shack for like $6 and you get like 400 feet of the stuff. The lines are painted with an enamel that could be easily painted over. Here's some pics. First: 22 Gauge- Gold. 26 Gauge- Green. 30 Gauge- Red. -

Here's a cool tip I learned from my ol' lady while she was doing her scrapbooking. I went to Hobb Lobby and bought some Rub 'N' Buff Silver leaf and she borrowed it to do some stenciling. I walked by and noticed how good it looked and thought it'd be perfect to use on models with the right size stencils and some patience. Here shes using a Q-tip to rub it in. This is how it looks afterwards. I think it looks awesome and would look really good on an old drag car. Tell me what you guys think.. -
I dont even know what to say. That Batmobile is just flat out awesome. I love the paint. SO CLEAN. Maybe if they would have built one like that for the movie it wouldnt have flopped after the first one. I am in love with your work, process, style, technique, etc., etc. The '34 is just jaw droppingly beautiful. SO SHINY I think I'm having a melt down!!! What to say about the Lil' Mixer??? There are NO WORDS to describe how beautiful that THING is! The chrome system you have come up with is just TOP NOTCH!!!! Have you ever thought of going into business for yourself?? I would be more than happy to pay someone of your extreme worthiness to chrome ANYTHING!! Your chroming technique looks better than anything I have ever seen!!!! I just dont know what to really say..... THANK YOU!!!

I have plenty of telephone wire layin around. I went to radio shack and bought some 22, 26, and 30 gauge Enamel Coated Magnet Wire that looks real nice. I'd have to paint it, but its really bendable and kinda fragile too. I might try that first. The 30 gauge is in the color I wanted anyway so I may just dull it down a little bit.

THAT IS AMAZING!!!! That looks like the REAL thing!!!!! Tell your friend MATT we wanna see more from him!!!!

No one knows if someone has the new challenger or maybe one coming soon??? -
I think I'm just gonna skip this idea and go with Krylon's Silver Leafing pen instead. I dont think the glue would even stick to the other stuff, or it might even melt it. I'm just gonna delete this post.

Once again I was digging through some ol' stuff thats been layin around for years and I picked up one of those emergency blankets and noticed how extremely thin and chrome-like it is. I was wondering if anyone has ever thought about using this for chrome foil. This stuff is really flexible. The package says its made of aluminum laminated polyethylene. If it could work, I dont know if I could do it, but I figured that if I put it out there someone could have an idea if this stuff is any good or just another hopeful junk find. Here's a pic to show how much of this stuff comes in a package. Here's a closeup to show how reflective this stuff is. I know that BMF is not relatively expensive, but I just like to find free stuff and figured that if this stuff is any good it would be awesome.

Bill, I must say that when I grow up, I wanna be just HALF as good as you are!! You were the very first person I talked to when I discovered this site, and you helped me believe I could do better than just a custom paint job. I wound up buying a whole new body and stripping the paint off of the other parts I painted when I ran into this site. Now I've almost started from square one and I'm glad I did. I'm taking my time on this build like I never have before. BILL, YOU ARE THE MAN!!!!

CASKETS?? WOW!!! Did you make those??? They look like real caskets! NICE.

I NEVER THOUGHT I COULD ENJOY WATCHING COMPACTS UNTIL THAT!! VERY COOL! -
I have been toying with the idea of just cutting it out and buying the photo-etch kit for this car and it has a grill insert. I just dont know if I'm ready for that or not. I guess the only way to find out is to start cutting right?? What would be the best method to cut that out? The only thing I can think of to use would be my Craftsman rotary tool, but I dont know what attatchments would work best for this.. Heres a pic of the grill. Thats just one detail I've always seen as something that HAS to look right!

I've just had another great idea that I garauntee someone else has used, but if not here it goes. For the radiator hose you can take a small spring, some wiring to go in the spring, and take some shrink wrap and heat it to the spring and wire and now you have a radiator hose!! -

I love GET FUZZY.. My favorite strip was from about 4 or so years ago, they were wondering why everyone who's on "COPS" never has a shirt on.. It was funny because a few days before I had just noticed the same thing.. Anyone been on "COPS" before?? -
If someone would have wrote "SHAMMY" instead of "CHAMOIS" I would have known exactly what you were talkin about. I think I might actually have some in the shed.. THANKS GUYS!!

Is it pretty much like floss, but for stitching??

I take it that I would need to paint the grill silver BEFORE the black?? I'm still kinda confused on the water part though. The grill has those teeny tiny lil' squares. Could I just thin some regular ol' flat black paint?? I really wanna get "The Detailor" paints. I think that stuff looks great. Never used it, but I wish I had it to tint my windows and other cool things!! I wanna thank you for your help Bluesman Mark....

THATS WILL BE SWEEEETT AS LONG AS THEY DO MORE AMERICAN MUSCLE!!! M...O.....P.....A.......R!!!!!!! -
I'd like to hear more about how to do that to the grill. We all know how detailed the 70 Challenger grill is. The only thing I could think of to get the look I want was to paint the whole grill silver, let it dry REALLY good, then lay some flat black on it and wipe it off of the part thats raised. Is there a better way to do this???
