  1. THANKS m408!!! This one's gonna help me alot!! ABE DOOLEY
  2. I was digging through an old junk drawer a min. ago and ran across some old coaxil cable that the connector was missing from and it hit me, FUEL LINES!!! It looks like its the correct scale. Its copper, but I'm sure I can find some thats a differant material. The trick is to just simply get the insulation off to reveal the clear tube that surrounds the cable itself. Once you've done that just take some wire strippers and take a few inches of the tube off the wire at a time. I'm sure someone else has thought of this, but if not, here ya go ya'll. ABE DOOLEY
  3. Heres a few pics of the Monster Garage Custom Jet Boat Car. PRETTY WICKED I think!!!
  4. If I remember right, Monster Garage did a boat drag car and "I" think it looked alright. I bet you could find it really easy with the web and get some good ideas from it. ABE DOOLEY
  5. I just bought some of Krylon's Glitter spray. Resplendent Red. I was just wondering if anyone has used this before and how. I need to know when to put it on, how much, and if it looks good on or under gloss black. I'll be using with Krylon's Fusion gloss black and Fusion Pepper red, with Future floor wax for the top coat. THANKS, ABE DOOLEY
  6. My first kit was done at like age 9. I can't quite remember the maker, but it was a '79 Jeep CJ5 OR CJ7 or the Wrangler. I wanted it because it was the same Jeep my Dad had at the time. I painted it cherry red. I even put a silver base down before the cherry and painted the door handles silver with a toothpick. My grandpa was REALLY into model airplanes and boats so it didnt take long for me to pick up on the bug. I still think it looked good, but if I was to see it now I bet I'd say "who the he!! made that?". My second was the '90s Batmobile. My uncle bought it for me and I remember him and my dad getting into it because he tried to take over MY model. I still want to do my first kit again though because god only knows what happened to it. ABE DOOLEY
  7. I would love to put it on my page, as long as you dont mind it being MYSPACE. Just let me know how. I LOVE THIS SITE!!!! And would be more than willing to help out in any way, any time!! ABE DOOLEY
  8. HOLY HORSE SH@%!!!!!
  9. WHAT WOULD THAT COST????? Now I've heard it all!! Tell me more.. I wanna know if these companies specialize in models, what the prep work consists of, or anything else I can;t think of. THANKS, ABE DOOLEY
  10. The boys are going to love getting the kits. I can't wait to see what you guys are going to bring to show off!! I'm gonna make sure the Challenger is done right for sure now!! See ya in July... ABE DOOLEY
  11. WOW!!! Thanks for the great ideas guys. I thought that making the booth the way I was thinking could be way out there, but hey, what do I know? I think since I will be painting in a fairly clean space I will go with the back draft build. And the cabinet idea is awesome!! I was thinking to REALLY cut down on the risk of contamination in the paint that maybe I would put some kind of plexi glass on the front and cut round holes for putting some rubber gloves in like a sandblasting cabinet and keepin the doors shut while I'm painting and maybe cutting down on the chance of contamination all together. On second thought- if I could find a junk sandblasting cabinet and clean it BEYOND belief and put a fan on back that would cut down on practically any building at all?? Sound too good to be true?? ABE DOOLEY
  12. I have 2 boys. 5 and 7 and they would absolutly LOVE that. That is so great! They have been telling me that they want to do a kit since I got my challenger nearly 2 months ago. My youngest thinks my Daytona is his and "HE'S" gonna paint it when I get done with my Challenger. Both the boys were sittin with me at the computer the week before last and I was on the Revell sight checkin out what I might do next and they told me they wanted to look for a "PROJECT". YES, that is what they said, and they were serious!! I haven't built a model since right before the youngest was born and the oldest must have been only 2 and they're already nearly as obsessed with it as I am. I let them help me paint some peices here and there and they can't get enough!!! Everyday when I sit down at the work bench to do some work they ask "When are you gonna paint that part Big Daddy? Can we do it?". And they get that look on their faces that wont let you say no to them unless you're heartless. I've been telling them I'd get them a kit for the last 2 weeks, but times are tight (for everybody) so I finally made them a promise that I would get them each a kit this week whether I had the money or not. So, come tuesday, hell or high water, Caleb (youngest) is getting the Concept Camaro snap kit and Austin (the oldest) is getting the '70 Chevelle snap kit. I'm sure once they get those done they'll want to do more. I know they dont need to be painted, but I told them they could paint them if they really wanted to. I think thats the whole reason they're so into it. They paint alot of pictures and they saw the slot car posts and now they've got me tapin off those so they can paint them tomorrow. LIL' CUSTOMIZERS!! I love it as much as they do. Now I see why my grandpa bought me all those kits when I was a kid. He must have loved watching me put those together as much as I love my boys getting the MODEL BUG! The first kit I ever did was a '79? Jeep CJ or Wrangler. I remember I wanted that one because it was like my Dad's. Iam really looking forward to meeting youg guys at the July meeting. I WILL be there with Austin and Caleb. They said today that they wanted to go. Do you guys bring any of your WIP or finished work?? Hopefully I'll have at least my '70 Challenger done by then and my Daytona started. THANKS VERY MUCH BRIAN, ABE DOOLEY
  13. I SECOND THAT!!!! Even though I think I'd trust a drunk woman before a drunk man. NOT TOO SMART? Thats what gives us, who wanna carry guns, a bad rep! Just giving the liberal hippies more ammo. On the same note-- If you're like me and you like to go out into the great putdoors and go wheelin (trail ridin, muddin, rock crawlin, huntin, etc.) PICK UP YOUR TRASH!!!!! DO NOT GIVE THEM AMMO... Use tree straps if you have to winch out!! If you are out and you see trash, PICK IT UP!!! Whether its yours or not!! If you have an oil leak or any kinda leak--- carry a small shovel and just dig out the contaminated dirt and throw it in the back of your truck!! If we all was to pick up after ourselves (and other SLOBS too) they would have nothing to fire at us! and we wouldn't have to worry about having to stay in the god forsaken cities!! ABE DOOLEY!!!
  14. Gotta love a woman who can shoot!!! Even though mine has no interest in firearms (no matter how much I tell her I'd feel so much better knowing she could shoot someone to defend herself and the boys). As far as the boys go- 5 and 7- They love it.. The oldest has a Buck Daisy and shares with the youngest until HE'S 7, and I also have an air rifle which I told my oldest he could have it when he turns 10 and THEN the youngest gets the Daisy, and I get a NEW break barrel air rifle. My oldest is as good a shot as I am. Sometimes he does much better than me. He's got ADD and shooting is the only thing, so far, that he's been able to slow down and concentrate at. He can shoot a 22 rifle just as well. This year he gets to go squirel hunting. He cant wait. Asks me just about everyday if its squirel season or not. Heres a pic of him getting his new Daisy for his birthday. My Dad saw the box and immediatly thought of "A Christmas Story"--- "You'll shoot your eye out, you'll shoot your eye out". Thats all I could hear my Dad sing in the background. He had NO IDEA thats what he was getting!! Here's a pic of us shooting that night after he got it. He said I was shooting it too much. Thats how I wound up getting my own. Heres a pic of him concentrating on the target box.
  15. REALLLY???? WOW.. I cant believe ya'll meet so CLOSE to me! It's the bank thats right next to one of the funeral homes or at least a few doors down? Didnt that bank get robbed a few times 4 or 5 years ago? If anyone knows my town, that is very strange to happen here.. We have somewhere like 1 cop to every 10 cictizens or something like that. We've been named one of Americas top 100 safest cities. Do I need to bring anything? Do you guys bring your work with ya? My boys would probably want to come too... Is that okay?? They'd LOVE to go and see some PROFESSIONALS work. They've been sitting here in amazement (along with me) at all the beautiful work on here.. I WILL definitely be there sir... THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR THE INVITE!!!!! ABE DOOLEY OOOOOHHHH NNNNOOOOO!!!! THATS FATHER'S DAY WEEKEND ISN'T IT???? I have a family reunion in GOOD OL' KENTUCKY that day... Whens the next time you guys meet?? It'll give me more time to finish the Challenger if you guys bring your work. Seeins how my woman "accidentally" threw my last 2 (which was the only thing that survived my childhood) away. Either that or they're lost for good. They weren't that great anyway. I cant wait. I feel like a lil' kid again. P.S. Are there many people from Columbus in the meeting?
  16. I've had an idea for a spray booth for awhile now, I just need a little guidance. I want to either build a plywood box or sheet metal box and put a fan on top blowing through a filter and into the booth and a grate or false floor at the bottom with a filter and another fan sucking it out and out of a window. Now my questions are--1. should I just run a fan on top sucking out to the window? 2. What kind of filter should I use. I'd imagine with having a fan blowing in it should be a high quality filter, right? 3. If I do run a fan blowing in and a fan sucking out should the top fan be of low power?? And the guys who have made their own booth, if you could re-do yours, what would you have done differently?? If you could show pics of your own so I can get a better idea that would be great.. THANKS ABE DOOLEY
  17. THAT AUDI IS F-IN WICKED!!!!! My son watched it with me and was tellin me "THAT IS NOT THE GENERAL LEE, BUT I LIKE IT!!". WOW!!! Thats just down-right awesome!!!! I got to see more vids of that Audi while I was watchin those 2. That thing was takin off like a rocket!!!! I bet thats an EASY 10 sec. ride!! Thanks for the vid-link nick.
  18. well... I thought it'd be okay for the kiddies until I remembered what song I mixed with it. NO KIDS ALLOWED!!! I'm gonna leave this post for about five mins. so see it quick. Its a pond party I went to about 2 years ago. If anyone seen my blazer in the "Whats your 1:1 ride" this is the hole I went Dukes of Hazard in. Too bad I didnt catch that on video.. or maybe I'm lucky my ol' lady aint gotta experience that over and over again. Its late so I dont think any kids will see it?? I'm debating whether or not I should post it.. If you wanna see it just PM me and I'll send you the link. ABE DOOLEY
  19. I am SO jealous of all you guys with all those kits layin around!! My local Wal-Mart(s) dont even carry model kits or anything to with them anymore. I went to my local Big Lots and they said they HARDLY ever get them or not at all now too... So all i got left is hobby lobby which has some on clearance every now and again, but its always the low-rider kits which I have no interest in at all... I always see people trading for kits, but I dont have much to trade as far as kit related goes.. All I have that MAYBE someone would have any interest in is my two 55 ton shackles, four 35 ton shackles, and 5 rolls of GM and Ford vinyl. Got plenty of the vinyl, just need someone willing to trade. I just got laid-off in march and I'm going back to school in the fall to be an electrician so I'm just gonna collect my unemployment so I dont have to worry about working while I'm busy at school. I've been so obsessed with building recently I've even thought about going back to work and skippin school just so I can afford to build like I want! If I go back to school I'll be able to afford more than if I went to work now so I just need to be patient.
  20. OH!! If anyone wonders what our REAL constitution says- heres a link to the original AMENDMENTS. http://www.law.cornell.edu/constitution/co...tml#amendmentiv
  21. Now thats some HERITAGE!! Wow.. My great great, etc. 2 uncles fought under General Jackson. I am so proud of my family for fighting for the RIGHT side. General Lee surrendered, NOT ME!!
  22. Theres another thing I can not stand!!! Republicans, Democrats, Liberals?? And all the other BS poltics there are!! How is it okay to choose a side before you even hear the problem at hand????? I cant stand it!! I'm not a republican, democrat, OR liberal!! I can see points from all sides! I, mean- How is it okay to vote against something that may be a really good solution just because you're the opposite party!!?? I say F!$* PARTIES! All it does is get in the way of solving real problems!! And as far as being against the right to bear arms is just unamerican. There may be some kinda constitutional right I may not like or diagree with, but I am not AGAINST ANY RIGHT, nor would I ever want it removed from the AMERICAN CONSTITUTION just for the fact that I would not the ones I use everyday to be effected in any way WHATSOEVER!!!!! Those are OUR rights, whether you choose to use them or not!!!! DONT F!%* WITH MY RIGHTS!!!! They're there for a reason!!! Our forefathers would be rolling in their grave if they saw what the govenment is doing to our country!! They'd also wonder why were all sitting on our a$$e$ and LETTING them do this and get by with it!!!! That is why they came here to this beautiful country of ours!! To get away from the British dictatorship!! Isn't that whats going on now??? I mean, since when did our constitution say you have to have a permit to speak in public??? Or have a permit to carry a gun?? Or worship in a way that people say is okay?? A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed. Basically what this means is that if WE THE PEOPLE fell that our rights are being taken away we have the right and OBLIGATION to defend our freedoms! Thats all for now. ABE DOOLEY
  23. I'M IN LOVE!!!!! I love the WHOLE thing!! I wanna build an ol' rat bike!! Rigid and all!
  24. Is this a PEN??? I have never seen it before.... I guess I'm goin back to hobby lobby now.. thanks for the tip. I've been looking for something more accessible than ordering alclad or spazstix. I'm kinda new to being VERY serious about how good my work looks now. I wanted my front and rear bumpers to look more like brushed stainless and I sprayed some caution yellow then some krylon nickel and it looks okay. I thought about doing another coat of nickel and taking a very small brush and stroking it very lightly, but I'm afraid I'll mess it up. If anyone has a better solution to this please let me know. ABE DOOLEY
  25. WOW!!! I have never seen a desk with sooo much character!!!! I love old used things! One thing I have noticed is the "third hand" everyone has. I bought mine years ago at a tool sale for like $8. I think it was one of the Cummins Tools sales. They go around in a big Tractor trailor and have their sales at fairgrounds and whatnot. Lots of cool cheap tools can be bought at one of those tool sales! Davkin- I'd imagine that having that many hobbies going on at once could sometimes be overwhelming. 200 Is still ALOT of models to have!! Maybe its just me though. I've noticed that almost everyone has more models than I would know what to do with. Ijust need to start buying some cool aftermarket parts since I just found out that theres that much out there. The only thing I have bought was some Detail masters PE street rod gauges that wont work in anything I have right now and I dont think I'm comftorable with my skills (YET) to fully fabricate anything. I also got some PE stereo faces and figured that would be simple enough. I really want some new wheels and tires, but cant afford it. I've been looking at some of the Pegasus tire combos. I really like the Torque thrust kit. They have a set of 19 and 23" combo I'd like to have for my Challenger, but I dont know if the woman would be okay with me shellin out the $$$ for the tires and the brake rotors and whatever it would take to put them on. What DOES it take to put aftermarket wheels and tires on????
