  1. I started using a paper clip that was coated in RED and BLACK for the battery cables.
  2. Was it Japan that had the REALLY bad one like 2 weeks ago?? That is terrible!
  3. I REALLY HOPE YOUR CABIN IS OKAY... I LOVE IT UP THERE!! NOW THAT IS GOD'S COUNTRY!! GO PACK!!!
  4. WELL..... If your a man of god like myself.... You have nothing to be afraid of. The only reason we bought the trailor was to pay it off in 5 years and sell it and use that for a down payment on a house out in the woods. I HATE THE CITY!!!!!! We have a lil' county by the name of BROWN and it is THE MOST beautiful county in Indiana. I have lived there 3 times. I moved there when I turned 17 and lived in a lil' house with 3 acres and a BIG mudhole out back some people would call a pond (dont worry, there were no fish in it). Lived there for a bout a year. It was like HOG HEAVEN there. Then I moved down the street to another lil' house on 4 acres with a very nice fishing pond that we kept the trucks out of. Lived there for a year and moved back to town for about 2 years and got "COUNTRY FEVER" again and moved out there on 49 and a half acres with a small swimming pond a 2 acre lake that had the best fishing I have ever seen in my life. Had a few mudholes there too. The guy I was renting from was destroying the land and me and him got into it a few times over it and I finally had enough and told the people in charge about him running raw sewage into the streams. He lost the property and now someones cleaning up his mess and putting lil' cabins on it for campers. I really miss the fishing though. So now I've only got 2 years left in this lil' cardboard box and I'll finally have my own house and a lake back in THE MOST beautiful county in Indiana. Have you ever been there Brian?? Some people know it by Nashville or Gnaw Bone. Its got a lot of flea markets.
  5. The back of plastic signs??? Thats a GREAT idea!!! I have about 5 of those layin in the shed!! I've only been able to buy the paints as I need them, but I've been trying to get at least one extra the last few times I went to buy some. Unfortunately I do have an airbrush, but not an air compressor. On top of that, the airbrush I have has a crack in the cone and I dont think anyone near sells Badger parts. Here in Columbus, Indiana, we have 1 Hobby store, that I know of, and its just a general Hobby Lobby. The nearest hobby store that sells aftermarket parts and such is Hobby Town USA about 45 miles north of me. I hate bein broke!!!!
  6. I've noticed that they do get air bubbles pretty easily. What I'll do is shake it really good and then I cut the tips off of the long Q-Tips and use the stick for a stirrer and just stir it up for a min. or 2 until I dont see any bubbles. I use spray cans if I have the color I need. I do have an airbrush I have never used because I cant afford an air compressor right now. I have never used an airbrush before at all too. I need to go get some spray cans to use with the airbrush seeins how it has the adapter for it and then I can use my jars of paint and I'll have ALOT more options. The only spray cans I have now are: KRYLON FUSION: Red Pepper/ Safety Red Gloss Black Satin Black Satin White Sunbeam/ Safety Yellow Textured Shimmer Black (NEVER EVER BUY THIS STUFF FOR MODELS) Regular KRYLON: Metalic Brilliant Silver Respendent Red- GLITTER SPRAY Matte Clear TESTORS: Grey Primer Competition Orange MODEL MASTERS LACQUERS: Daytona Yellow Wet Look Clear I have not used the Lacqueer yet. Can't wait! I eally need to get an air compressor. If anyone has one they think is junk, I'll take it off your hands and see if I can fix it.
  7. I got it at Hobby Lobby. I havent seen it anywhere else, but then again I just kinda ran into it. Heres some pics. This is to show you its a smaller can. Heres a closer look. Hope this helps!
  8. NO, THANK YOU for building such a BADA$$ BIG RIG!!! Do you paint for a living??? If ya dont, you should!! I have seen alot of murals in my 27 years and I have NEVER seen anything that well exucuted! The background goes PERFECT with it! Do you have any pics of your art posted anywhere else?? I.... MUST.... SEE...... MORE!!!!!
  9. I just checked out Dupli-colors site and they have some WICKED paint combinations!! I think I'll be goin to auto zone or somewhere to buy some next week. I really like the color shifting paint kit! I might use that later. THANKS FOR THE TIP ROLLIN!!!
  10. You must know how to pinstripe. I love pinstriping. I want to learn so bad!! I never thought of using One Shot for models. BRILLIANT! That stuff is so nice. It comes in really SWWWEEEETTTT colors too!!!
  11. Does anyone have the NEW CHALLENGER coming out soon or out already???
  12. I just thought that maybe doing a "WASH" with THE DETAILOR's colors could make these lines ANY color you could want!! Then you would have battery cables, electrical lines, heater hoses, etc. Does anyone know if this stuff will stick to hard lines??
  13. Whatever home center you do have in your area, go to their website and see if they have them on there, and if they do then see if they can order it from another store that does have them.
  14. Have her grab some "Non-Adherent Sterile Pads" if she can. These pads are "FUR-FREE" and are perfect for cleaning the body and other parts before painting because they will not leave tiny lil' hairs all over it. And they also have a mesh like material that could work as a mesh grill (I just got them today). They dont have the "Good" tweezers unfortunately and I would love to have the pair that slide and lock. Luckily my woman works in a nursing home and alot of the time they have extra stuff that doesnt get used, but they'll throw it out. I need to get out and hit the flea markets, but its just too HOT right now. Another thing I use alot are the clay sculpting spoons at hobby lobby. I use them to scrape paint and push the tape into the crevices of parts. I'd say thats the things I use the most.
  15. HOW DO YOU GUYS KNOW SO MUCH ABOUT ALL OF THIS??!! WOW!! Which kits come with 2 different cars???!!! Could someone show me a pic of one?? Do they have any mopar 2 n' 1's?? I... MUST.... KNOW!!
  16. Well... Me and the woman were lookin at pics of the destruction on the computer the other day and we realized something..... In the last month alone we have been hit by an earthquake, 3 tornados, and a flood. Something most of us in Indiana have never experienced. Something is DEFINITLY going on beyond our current control. I never in a million years tought I would see my town or the surrounding towns flood or see an earthquake. Tornados happen alot, but I cant remember the last time we were hit by 3 within 24 hours!! Not to mention I was hit by a small tornado when I was going to Hobby Lobby last tuesday. I thought I was a gonner! It was a small scale tornado when it hit me, but it still scared the ###### out of me. You guys know how broadsided SUV's are. I thought for sure the Blazer was gonna be thrown around. When it hit the truck, it started rockin side to side on two wheels and I could feel it being picked up at the same time, I laid down across the front seats as much as a big boy like me could and I could see signs and all kinds of debris flyin around. There was a little car about 10 feet in front of me and we turned right onto Central Ave. it just disappeared! My family was at home (the trailor) when it hit me and all I could think about was getting home before the tornado could make it that way, I kept having to stop to keep out of it and I finally hit a road that was clear of it and it luckily didnt go anywhere near my lil' cardboard box of a trailor we call home. Worrying if my family was going to be okay was THE most scariest thing I have ever gone through. I was a nervous wreck the whole day. Every time I heard the wind howl I made them pack into the truck and we'd head for her mom's house. I think she was fed up with it at the end of the day.
  17. I've saw your 300 Truck and it is FU#@!@G BEAUTIFUL!!!!!! That was one of the first models I saw here!! I must have stared at that thing for an hour and a half! NO JOKE! How long did it take for you to build that and then how long did it take to paint? I mean, the paint job looks like something out of the store, but 100 times better!!! WOW!!!!
  18. Abe, did you work at the Plano plant? I had a friend who left Ohio to go over and work there. I helped him and his family move to Columbus IN. I'm gonna have to try the coax cable some time. I have some layin around here somewhere. Mageck
  19. WELL.... Luckily my woman is an LPN and she has brought me ALL kinds of goodies. She brought me the long Q-tips (which are very useful as paint stirrers after you're done with the and cut the tip off), she's brought me syringes (only use I found so far is to suck the paint thinner out and put it in smaller jars. I could use it for a glue applicator too) that have needles and some that dont, plastic tweezers, some of the medial gauze work really well, alcohol wipes, De-Bonding wipes which work REALLY GOOD for stripping paint (I've never seen anything strip paint like this stuff, just wipe on, wipe off), rubber gloves, and some other little odds and ends stuff. I really need some of those tweezers that stay clamped instead of open, but the nursing home she works in doesn't carry those. Thank God for my personal nurse!
  20. BTW- I love that ol' beat up pickup truck you built! Is that real wood in the bed?
  21. I thought about that after I saw some that were small enough at hobby lobby a couple of days ago. And then that night I was going through some of the aftermarket sites and saw someone was selling them as "SHIFTERS" for like $4 or something!!!!! How RUDE!! The only reason I said the tongue ring idea is because there is a HUGE selection of designs and colors. I know there are some that can be of scale. They cost a lil' more, but you have a very wide selection of designs.. I also ran into something else that would work as fuel/brake lines. Have you ever seen the wire bracelets and necklaces girls made? That wire is PERFECT and CHEAP! I bought 10 foot today for less than $2 at wal-mart. I'm tryin already to bend the lines that come off of the brake booster. It's not as flexible as the co-ax cable, but its the right material. I'm thinkin about just using the copper anyway just because I love the copper fittings and lines on ol' school BOBBERS. Which I will build one one of these years!!
  22. I've also noticed that Tongue rings are about the same size as a shifter and they come in a MILLION different sizes and colors and shapes.
  23. I found some. Its krylon's farm implement paint though, but I called them and they said it wold work as long as I used the Dupli-Color Adhesive Promoter (cp-199) as a base coat. Now I think I'm just gonna make my own john deere decals, I just wish I had the Custom Decal maker kit that allowed me to actually do my own designs. I have the basic kit, but you cant do nothing with it exept what they have on it already.
  24. WOW!!! I am definately gonna check that out right now. THANKS Ryan!! Yer Da Man, Man!!
  25. HAHA!! I can't do that. I can just see the woman coming in the bathroom while I've got my channel locks out and takin the faucet apart and askin me what the hell is wrong with the sink. Then I'd have to explain that I need the screen for grill mesh. I believe I'd be puttin the faucet right back together. As far as the shielded wire goes: Can you get a bunch of this stuff?? Would you be willin to part with some if you had enough to share? Thats probably the only thing I miss about not workin right now is lookin for stuff they're throwin out that fits perfectly into our hobby!! Luckily there was a few things I did grab that looked useful for something else and it turns out that it works good for modeling. Theres just so much stuff that they threw out that I didn't grab and now that I look back and realize how MUCH of it could have been used in modeling it kinda makes me mad at myself. We were an injection mold plant so there was all kinds of stuff that applied to modeling. They even used the same plastic in some molds. All kinds of wires, tubes, lil' itty' bitty nuts and bolts and who knows what else I passed up cause I wasnt thinkin about modelin like I am now.
