  1. Hey guys, I'm about to buy some more Humbrol paints and I was wondering if the Humbrol Brand thinner would be the best to thin it with??? I've got a lil' thinner here, but I figured if I'm gonna order some Humbrol paint I'd better ask before I do so.... I know some products are much better than others. I'm already in love with the 1 tinlet of matte black I have.
  2. I want this kit so badly!!! I didn't even know there were different kits of the scout until you posted this!
  3. THAT IS ALMOST EXACTLY WHAT I WAS THINKING!!!! I love the military scheme. I found some really AWESOME shackles to go with the Scout II.. Heres some pics... PE35R11.... PE35R13.... PE35R14.... PE35R16.... They're from Aber Details, and I'm gonna order them from www.airconnection.com. All kinds of GOODIES from that site....
  4. The load tighteners look and work like the REAL thing!!!!! I'm gonna wait til I have enough $$$ to order about $50 or $60 worth at once, that way I dont have to mess with the overseas deal more than once.... I was also looking at their bull bumpers in 1/24 and thinking I could probably cut and resize to fit the Scout II. THEY HAVE SOOOO MANY NICE LOOKING THINGS!!! Their air suspensions look sooo real! They also have Rockwell axle kits!! AARONW!!!! YOU ARE THE MAN, MAN!!!!
  5. LOOK AT THIS!!!!!! HAVE I MENTIONED THAT I LOVE THIS SITE???? I'm not sure how to obtain it seens how its from euroe or something....
  6. SEE!!!! AS I'M TYPING, I'VE GOT SOMEONE ELSE WITH A BETTER IDEA!!!! THANKS AARON!!! YER DA MAN!!!
  7. HAHAHA!!! Thats actually where I first looked.... I looked for aftermarket stuff and didn't see anything that caught my eye, even the chains don't look to scale.... I'm thinking that I could make it a 4 piece deal from plastruct and PE... First, bend the correct size tubing in a horseshoe, next, take some BIG round tubing and slice a piece to the correct width, carve it round, drill a hole for the pin, then, make my pin from some plastruct rod, add some PE bolt head to it, last, I could use a hood pin kit for the bolt pin..... thats quite a bit actually, but it could be the difference between stock to custom. I am also gonna make an offroad bumper for it too. I went through the internet today copying pics of finished and in progress tube bumpers for reference and it also translates into directions on how to build a plastic tube version compared to steel. Only difference, we weld with glue instead of flux core. THANKS FOR THE TIPS GUYS, I'm sure there is someone out there who will simplify my idea, and I am very willing to listen...
  8. If I can find a big enough shackle in 1/35 then that would work, but I doubt I could find the size I want. I will probably just try to scratchbuild one..... A BIG ONE!!!! Maybe some 35 tons like the ones I have in the shed..... Or the 55 TON BIG BOYS!!!!
  9. THATS GREAT!!! Thats why I love this site!! If I can't think of it, I know someone else will!!! Thanks Harry!!
  10. I'm wanting to add shackles to my Scout II and I have never seen any in 1/25th scale and was hoping someone knew of a place to get them??? Heres a pic of a few....
  11. I just remembered that there is someone that lives in my trailor park that has a scout II. I'm not sure what he has dropped in it, but it sounds like a smallblock..... I'll have to go over there tomorrow and ask and maybe take some pics..... I think I can seperate the frame rails from the wheel wells and get something mean and nasty in there...
  12. WOW!!!!! THAT IS ONE HELL OF A SLAMMED, FRENCHED, SUPER CLEAN, AND CHOPPED SCOUTII!!!!!!! THAT IS JUST PLAIN WICKED!!
  13. THAT IS AN AWESOME BUILD!!! I'm gonna strip ALL of the chrome and try to put REAL headlights in... can't stand it when they put the fake chrome lights on the models!! I also noticed it doesn't have a radiator as well!!! I think I'm gonna cut the core support out and put in a radiator if room allows it! I'm just DYING to put something mean in that lil' engine compartment!!!! The Scout is one of my favorite off road vehicles and I just wanna do this build justice!! I'm afraid its gonna be a pain to match up the 4X4 tranny to something different... what chevy kits come with a 4X4 tranny combo?? if any...
  14. I'm thinking of going with the military theme, but with a SLIGHT twist.... I'm thinking of aftermarket motors to shove into this thing and I'm wondering if anyone knows what could fit in between those skinny rails.... I'm thinking "OPEN HEADERS" .... Hood scoop.... BLOWER!!!!! I also wanna build a custom brush guard so if anyone knows of a post or article with some tips on custom 4X4 bumpers that would help as well.... THANKS AHEAD GUYS!!!
  15. What kinds and brands of ink we talkin here??? I've wanted to try that, but I know some kinds of ink don't agree with my acrylics or some paints at all.
  16. I've noticed that Humbrol paint is extremely thick. I was wondering how much I should thin it to be used in an airbrush??? Thanks ahead guys.... And its Matte Black in case that makes a difference....
  17. The MOPAR guys really know how to get yer blood flowin dont they??!! That is the CLEANEST Charger I have seen yet!! I wanna drive it!! Why cant "Honey I Shrunk The Kids" be true????????? Almost makes me cry that it will never be driven!
  18. Thanks Harry, That was a FAST reply!!!! I had everything sittin out in front of me just waitin for someone to reply and was thinkin I'd be waitin a while.... I've heard people say that alcohol works better and I've also heard people say that water works better. I just listen to the pros!! Thanks again for the fast response Harry!!!! Trying to black-out the radiator and I've been having problems getting the Detailor to co-operate!!! I've been sitting here for about 3 hours rtrying to detail all the little things and wondering if I should just go ahead and mix up my own wash. I guess I'm about to try something new.... I love it!!!
  19. I was just fixin to thin some flat black acrylic myself and was gonna ask someone what the best thing to thin it with?? Water... Alcohol?? What concentration alcohol?? I have 50% isopropyl on hand.....
  20. The year I was born, NOTHING GREAT WAS GOING ON AND MUSCLE CARS WERE DEAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 1981!! You dont see the "BIG 3" putting out any great machines in that year do ya????? And I came home in a "74 Monte Carlo!!! GO MOM!!!!
  21. I've never used regular Bondo for plastics and was just worried it would have an adverse effect. After the mess with the Green Squadron putty, I been kinda shy about new things..... worried about melting plastic or whatnot!! Thanks guys....
