  1. I made this out of a derelict convertible. I'm going to "freshen it up", with some new wheels, door handles, and an engine. I may dress this one up as a "LeBaron" That rear window treatment is just too cool.
  2. I always enjoy looking at your buils, Al.
  3. Interesting.
  4. That is very nice!!!!
  5. John, I cannot wait to see any progress on this topic. As a rabid teenager, I could only dream of acquiring a Balwin-Motion Car. Unfortunately, living in Washington, DC, the insurance would have been horrendous, as well as the cost of upkeep for such a beast. However, with palstic and resin kits, reality is as easy as a 1/25 scale kit. When I was doing this car, I remembered that Balwin-Motion marketed the '69 Biscayne, as well as the Impala SS427 as part of their program. as well as the Impala SS427 Maybe we can have a Baldwin-Motion car build-off. There is plenty of base kits out there to do it.
  6. Sweet!!!!
  7. Very Nice!!!!
  8. I love it!!!!
  9. Very nice!!!!
  10. Several years back, I was able to pick up a built-up AMT 1965 Buick Wildcat Hardtop. It did not have all of the parts, but I did not care at the time, as I could get what I needed from the Modelhaus. A few years later, I was at Toledo, and I found a second one, which was kind of forlorn, and built with the custom front and rear ends, and the custom rocker panel trim glued on. However, it was unpainted, and I was able to get what I needed from The Modelhaus, who was there (about the third trip to his table). I cleaned it up, but have not primed it yet. The primered one is wearing a set of Buick's "Formula Five" Chromed Wheels, and the un-painted one has a set of narrowed Wire wheels from A '65 Buick Riviera kit. I am thinking about doing one as a Factory car, and the other as a period car with some custom touches, the way my Dad did to his cars back in the day. This model has a place in my heart, as I remem ber my best friend (next door neighbor) having one, while I had the AMT Oldsmobile 88 2-door hardtop (I have those too, in a hardtop, and a beat-up promo convertible). Ironically, in 1965, my Dad had a 1965 Olds 98 Luxury Sedan, which he added a set of these wheels to it to personalize it. I may do the Olds in tandem with the Buick, painted up like Dad's car. (Dark Blue w/ Black Vinyl Roof and Blue Interior. I am leaning towards Red, Dark Green, or Dark Turquoise on the Buick.
  11. Told ya about the foil!!!! That is gorgeous!!!!
  12. I'm going to wait until the kit comes out through normal channels. I'm not in that much of a hurry.
  13. Lookin' good Steve. I have one of those to be built. The only thing I do not care for is that JoHan put Sport Fury interiors in these kits, while the exterior triom was for the Fury lll model. In doing the research to build mine, I pulled some pictures of some Fury lll interiors from the web. I have a spare front seat from a Lindberg Ramchargers Dodge, which will give the the basic front bench, and the rest can be applied to the existing interior tub and back seat, using various sizes of plastic strip and half rounds. I like the look of this one for my build. I will probably use the kit wheel covers and whitewall tires on the build. I know that whichever direction you take with your kit, it will be stunning.
  14. Beautiful work.
  15. You are a much better man than me. I bought one of those Revell Chevy's and gave it away after I opened the box. I have since gotten my hands on a MPC '78 annual. I like the stance of this truck, but I juast cannot bring myself to do a model that does not shine. I look forward to seeing how the project turns out.
  16. Very nice!!!!
  17. I'm leaning towards black on these. All of the preliminary work has been done as far as fit. As soon as the weather warms up, paint will fly, as I paint outdoors to keep the fumes out of the house. My wife and I have respiratory problems.
  18. I have a red '62 that I am going to turn into a convertible, using parts from the Modelhaus (Interior Tub, Windshield Frame and Convertible boot), as well as a unbuilt hardtop. Year before last, I was able to get my hands on a somewhat decent Revell Newport Convertible, the was moulded in white. It was hand painted, but stripped easily, and most everything is there (missing 1 wheelcover), and the chrome and glass is usable. No pictures yet.
  19. Go get 'em Mike!!!!!
  20. I have been following Steve Guthmiller's beautiful '65 Chrysler 300 elsewhere on this forum, and judging from his past work, it's going to be a knockout. I restored this JoHan '65 Chrysler 300 Hardtop from a glue-bomb several years ago, and pulled it off of the shelf last night to photograph it.. I painted it with Black Lacquer, and added a Model Car Garage Black vinyl roof. The interior was done in white, trimmed in black, using photographs from my trusty '65 Chrysler brochure. I can truly tell ya, there is a lot of bare metal trim on this one. While the finish has a nice shine, I did not put a lot of paint on it, as I have found that JoHan plastic is very brittle, and cannot stand the rigors of a hard polish job. I've cracked a few while preparing the bodies for paint. I love the mid '60's Chrysler products, and I plan to do several of them in the near future while I can afford them. This one may be my next victim. Here's where we are today, thanks to the Modelhaus. And this is what I plan to do with it. Britt Reid (aka The Green Hornet) with his '66 300 Convertible.
