input for My farm
Eshaver replied to Nick Winter's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Nicholas , just to keep things in perspective - " G " scale and 1-24th scale run out to approximately 1/2 " = foot. Keeping that in mind every time will enable you to get a realistic " Stance " on the project. Look, there are two doll house stores here in Richmond Va . I can put you in touch with Lonnie Bell owner of Bells Exclusives here . He and his wife are very nice and easy to work with. In fact the store is across from a 1951 Crown Central gasoline station / well was a gas station . Google Crown Central to see what they had then . Ed Shaver -

Like George 53, I'm nearly 60 myself....... I mowed yards , delivered the newspaper , topped a little Tobacco on the farm , ( HEY NICHOLAS ) and pretty much did what a kid of twelve could do. George , I too had that 61 Ranchero. In fact it's the only model that survived the hurricane that came through Richmond Va in 1973. It was painted in Testors Red. Drug stores , every toy store , Murphys, Woolworths , Roses, Peoples drug- C V S , Walgreens - shoot 7-11 even had models ! I bought gas at 19cents a gallon for the mower and yes , I smoked too, Phillip Morris Comanders - .30 cents a pack . Ed Shaver -

Nicholas, how many projects you have working currently ? By my count , at least 10 ! Whew............... Uh yes the farm , well shucks man , hit a couple of Doll house building stores . Tell them you're doing quarter scale , they translate that to 1-24th. Did you see the article in diorama about doing buildings from Foam Core called Walls The Easy Way ? I wish you were near Mount Vernon Va, I helped do a large model of Washingtons plantation about ten twelve years ago with a friend . Uh ya haven't given me much to comment on . Go to Michiaels and check out the animals that they have near the models , Some of them are in 1-24th scale . I used a few in the Pure station thats probably on page 4 in Dioramas . Ed Shaver -

Bill, David Mc David Pontiac in Fort Worth would be proud of you . He had a beautiful 59 Convertable that used to sit in the showroom at the dealership on Camp Bowie Blvd JHis dog Wide Track , a Great Dane was always a faithful comanion too. Hey , that was an automobile ! Ed Shaver -
Nicholas , Carl is correct. we have a " G " scale dealer here in Richmond Va. I refer to the place as the Toy museuem and the N A Z I 's that work there really are offended when someone disturbs their moment of tranquility as the store is in a very " Exclusive " neighborhod . The children all attend prestigious Catholic schools and the " official car is a Volvo Wagon . Now as to the price of that G scale , ya don't wanna know ! Ed Shaver

Gee, i wonder if McNamara thought to do any of those neat things you did to the Futura . Kinda makes ya wonder as Henery was always sniffin his hiney! Then too what did he bring to the table , the 58 T- Bird , the Edsel and of course the Falcon , and then he tried to run the Army from the Pentagon ! Ed Shaver

I built one for each corner in scale of course . The floor jack actually will lift a car in scale. I can send plans to build the same . The tool in the back was used to break tires off the rim . Trust me , these things were sometimes a real pain in the back toi use too. Tires then had a real stiff side wall . I'm about ready to cast the pumps , cross yer fingers ....... I will let ya'all know sometime next week . They will be models of the Bennett manufactured 555 seen regularly at Sinclair , and some Cities Service strations of the era. Yes , not one but TWO Wyllis 's ! One , the Americar coupe ! I did it in period Chesepeak Blue , really a Blue Grey . Thanks to Flat head Gary , he really came through on the truck photos. The truck is done in Testors Black . Meanwhile the Ford Model A is under the tarp ready to race at the South Side Speed way. And once again mo to come !!! Ed Shaver
