  3. Steve, I cannot tell you how many of these sedans I worked on back in Ft Worth as they were a popular choice for a couple of guys who had several of them a taxi cabs leased back to Yellow Cab in Ft Worth . Most of not all had the 351-400 M engines and C-6 automatics in them . I recall having to replace quite a few Catylic converters in them as people would inadvertently put leaded gasoline in them and poision the converter as a result . Ed Shaver
  4. At this point and being pessimistic , I would have to say if we are lucky we will now see endless re- releases of A M T 63-4 Fords , 57 Chevvies , 32 Fords , 49 Fords , Stupid Show cars like the Mummy's Chariott and some wierd Tom Daniels and Chip Foose stuff! Ed Shaver
  5. Sorry but this topic was already covered by Chuck Most and Art Anderson very very well ! My hat is now off to both of you gentlemen ! Ed Shaver

  11. Ken , I too must have the desease . I have wanted either the 61 0r 62 Buick Special wagon for some time . I did see a Hubley 1960 wagon built and restorable for fifty at the Foothills plastic show this past weekend in North Carolina . Money being what it has been for me this year I had to scrimp just to buy the gasoline back to Virginia . Hey lets not forget that Hubley also did the Nash Metropolitian too . Ed Shaver

    '33 Caddy!!!

Marcos, I wish you could have been around in North Texas years ago as Dr A M Pate founder of the Texas Oil refinery products company and founder of the origional Pate swap meet had a meuseuem on his estate . On it , he had a beautiful V- 16 Cadillac engine on diplay next to a 1932 Cadillac tourer with a 16 cylinder engine as well. I would go there and marvell as to the unique exibits he had on display . We lost a true leader in the automotive field when he passed away . I have no idea what happened to the exibits but I can only hope that they are appreated as they were in his meuseuem . Your car would certainly fit well within the library of his home ........... Ed Shaver
  17. Now Bill, lets re- visit the pictures of you an your sister while listening to Z Z Top singinging " Well dressed Man " ....................... very nice sir and thanks for sharing ! Ed Shaver
  18. I doooo admire the H O builders as they can work with the small scale parts . I'm impressed ! Ed Shaver
  19. Derrick , I'm impressed with the work ! Uh, I used to live in Arlington Texas and I used to go into a couple of bike shops that looked just like the one you did , very nice ! Ed Shaver
  20. Ron , very interesting additional details there . I sure would love to know how you ever constructed that inncorrect lift though . I wound up giving up on it and built a better more correct lift for the one I did . Ed Shaver
  21. Howdy, folks , just wanted to say a big thank you to the wonderful response to all those who took the time to find me and then personally thank me for returning to North Carolina with the Shell Shaped Shell station that remains ( intact for now ) in Winston Salem . It was refreshing to see a very low pressure show where the participants were like those I remember from my years living out west . A couple of I P M S clubs here in Virginia could take lessions from these folks too ! Ed Shaver
  22. John B Sebastian of the group , The Lovin Spoonfuls in the 1960's wrote a tune that described someone wanting to return to the simple times in his youth . The same can be said about A M T's latest version of the 1932 Ford 5 Window coupe. Now I saw and read all the hooo - Ha in the General section back last week about Revells 30.00 kit ........... Still it's a Street Rod , no matter how you try and put it . I don't build Street- Rods as models . I built the real ones for enough years and I dont care to cut up models to do so . Now I have been aware of the A M T kit body for several years and like most of you, wish that they had "corrected it" years ago. This kit was a combination of the instructions from 1960, most of the 1960 box with a few slight exceptions and many of the parts added from subsequent re- issues. Kit number 21911- P Looks strikingly like its 1960 counterpart with some exceptions as the origional box had a "dot " pattern over the White area , the box was narrower and there was no mention of Ford licenced product , gee how Liars , uh Lawyers have managed to fix things so wonderfully !Upon oping the box, we see the fender assembly packaged in a plastic bag with a cardboard stifferner - Whew , the rest of the parts bundled in a plastic bag , the body and hood seperate , and a bunch of tires in their bag. First , there were NO NARROW Drag Slicks ( That sucked ) , only the no name Firestones , ( 5 ) , 5 Wide Goodyears and two metal axles . The decals are a refreshing trip to the art archives as they at least represented a simpler time what with Perfect circle piston rings and lots of fancy pinstriping in bright Yellow ! Oh , Two countem Dano , Two 1/2 X 1/4 Pennzoil ovals ! Now the instruction sheet mentions cycle fenders as part of the package , uh not there . The sheet also shows the "Hand- Formed " hood but sadly you will have to raid a Linburg kit to get one now a days . I was also very disappointed in not finding the " Full Moon " wheel covers or the simple engine stand in the kit . Common Diorama builders , we all know that these are some " Must haves for the shop area " . Insteaad , we get the " baby Moons " that were installed into the Chrome tree back in the seventies . We also get the under chassis exaust system that was supposed to supliment the simplified Chevrolet engine. On the plus side , the kit was molded in White as opposed to Black or Red or some other wierd color that many builders hate . Building this kit is relitivly simple and for the inexperenced builders , go for it ! It's a great time to be had by all . I simply need the Flat- Head , the axles , bumpers , spare tire bracket , and wheels to Kit- bash a 30.00 Revell Kit into something for a up comming service station thats in consideration. I didn't catch the guys name as he owned a hobby store in North Carolina but he sold me the kit very inexpensively at the I P M S show yesterday in Charlotte / Conover . I only wish he had more of the Seld diorama stuff . I bought some real interesting items for the Amoco Projek as well . Ed Shaver .
  23. James in all the years I towed the bigguns , never heard too much bout Werner . Thanks for the heads up . I have heard my fill of J B Hunt though . Swift is hiring so many mexicans round here I wonder what the need for the new Meximericanada Highway is all about . True the real estate is going right through the middle of the country and Bubba, I'm scared , very scared ! Ed Shaver
  24. Art, thank you for sharing the story with us ! I'm sure that once the word gets out , there will be a lot of folks taking a look at this project ! Ed Shaver
  25. Tbats a very inventive idea there , using the wire and all . I have just used the very heavyest thread I could use and dust a brown on it to simulate the rusted look . Ed Shaver
