  1. By the way Art- you can still get re- build parts for this engine easier than you can for most MODERN cars too ! Ed Shaver
  2. Jim, wish I had a decent answer as they usually brought flyers to both the Richmond Va. contest , I P M S - OLD DOMINION OPEN and the Northern Va. show . You may want to try Googleing any of the I P M S clubs in Virginia . I'm no longer a member as my models don't seem to fit their current criteria , READ W W II aircraft . If I hear of anything uh I'll try and give you a P- M . Ed Shaver
  3. Greg, first I have to give fellow member Hotrodasaurus here a lot of credit as it was him who sent me a Rod and Custom magazine , ( January 1963 ) . In the magazine among other things like scratch building a model was an article called History of Model Cars Past and Present by Bob Wingate . I think the fellow showing a model is Mr Wngate extroidinare . His garage is filled with models shown on slanted shelves to display them from the ground . One can easily see the progression from 1947 and a small display of Banthrico , ( National Products ) to 1957 when S M P and A M T started to manufacture the popular Promotional plastic models . Indeed , we certainly have come a long way in this ever growing hobby ! Ed Shaver
  4. Very interesting , I lived in Texas for years and I used to tow trucks into southern Arizona . Still, I never saw the U S Border patrol use Dunebuggys . I can certainly see where they would come in very handy as there is a lot of territory thats very hostle there in the New Mexico- Arizona area. I wish you had explained what you used for Ground cover , very well done ! Ed Shaver
  5. ANYTHING with a Flat head is interesting ................................................................................ ................................................................................ ...............to me . Ed Shaver
  6. Rick , read my P- M to you , carefully !!!!! Ed Shaver
  7. I see some fire equipment being transported up from Florida every so often on I - 95 . Your 'es looks OUTSTANDING !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You dont see the Kenworth trucks very often as most around here are the Sea Graves and Americian La France . I like it , fine job ! Ed Shaver
  8. George , Wrapping tape wont help this wild child ! I saw sanding sealer on the work bench ! I saw Chicken Noodle soup on the bench ! Do you have any idea what the long term effects are from the exposure to the solvents in those two chemicals are ? Dopn't you realize that is what the Russian Army tried to make Rocket propelliant out of ? Ed Shaver
  9. Dave , first your efforts are first rate ! Second and I don't mean anything negative as I saw this on so many 1-1 Volkswagens but will you be " Rusting out " the heater boxes at the exaust manifolds ? Ed Shaver
  10. Terry , concerning the Panhard kit , I had no idea that kit woulfd ever yield those results . I have it and I've held onto it hoping for some reference to work from . Thanks for sharing these early cars ! Ed Shaver
  11. N I C E ..................................... Ed Shaver
  12. Buba , I suggest e-mailing Terry Jessie here on the board . He keeps up with the aftermarket guys that used to do that kind of thing . Ed Shaver

  15. To tell you the truth , the Motorama cars of the 1950's have never really been a big hit at least for me . I spent two and a half years just building a model of the L'Universalle Van from General Motors truck in the 1955 . I also started doing the Buick Wildcat II but I never finished it . No body ever really gave the van a second look . Palmer did the Buick Lasabre in I think 1959. I'ts in 1-25thj scale and actually pretty good considering Palmers misguided reputation as a kit manufacturer . Revell did the Lincon Futura ( TV BATMOBILE ) and the 55 pontiac Club De Mer. I M C did the Ford Cougar II , Mustang II and you can get them now from Linburg . I sure wont say people are lining up to buy them though . Experimental cars really have a niche audence . You take the Mako Shark II that M P C did in 1969 , that kit had everything but the kitchen sink ! They wound up re- tooing it into some kind of kid custom just to he money of the tool . Sure , Id buy the kit if it were re- issued but I would buy ONE KIT , not a case as some do here . Besides , you critisize the lack of fifties cars and Revell gives us the 56 Nomad wagon , a decent 57 Chevrolet sedan , a 56 Sedan , A M T did the Chrysler and the Edsel two times , once as a Gook wagen ! A M T has also had out the 56 Ford , not one of my favorites as I used to work on a 1-1 one . Monogram had a 55 Ford Panel delivery . Hey I easily made a model of my 53 Ford out of the Monogram 55 too . If ya want it bad enpough , scratch build it ! Don't tell me ya can't caz I know if ya want it bad nuff, ya can ! Ed Shaver
  16. Mike , any of the M P C - A M T 1928 Lincon kits will yield several liquor bottles . They came in all the issues on the chrome tree. Sorry I don't have any spares as I used mine to do coke bottles in the Shell shaped Shell station diorama I did back two years ago . Ed Shaver
  17. For once , somebody did it right and included a Chassis ! I'm so sick and tired of hacking up kits just to get a resin body to work on annother kit , whew !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ed Shaver
  18. I think we need to take up a petition to have C B go on tour as the re-incarnated C B ROTH !!!!!!!!!!!! Ed Shaver
  19. I never have any problems with Poly- S EZ Lift off . works on resin and all plastics , no problems either ! Ed Shaver

  22. Terry wayyyy cool ride ! it would look great at the Triangle filling station I posted in diorama . The station was really built and yes , It's still hanging on - BARELY in Richmond Virginia . Good to see you are still around too . Ed Shaver
  23. Re- live my past ........... humm...... naw, I'm actually living some of the dreams I had from years ago . Society has allowed me to do in some ways . Meanwhile , I lucked i and I have some material things that I wanted in my youth . I never wanted too much in the material department , heck because of my health realisticly I have mabye twenty years tops . Im enjoying each day as It presents itself , then it's someone elses turn ! Ed Shaver
