Steve, you and tim might be interested in a book on the history of Mr David Skelly and his company Skelly Oil . The book was called "A Great Name in Oil " . I forget who wrote the book , somewhere in my vast pile of notes I have it as I credited it boomm several times when I was researching my own retail gasoline history book , Contains Lead. I know that the book might bestll found in the Fort Wort Worth City Library . Mr Skelly was a very influental citizen there. On annother note, Skelly Truck stops were probably the filithest places I stopped when I worked in the west . Ed Shaver -

Finally finished! Revell '32 Ford Five Window Coupe Kit Build
Eshaver replied to tim boyd's topic in Model Cars
Tim , I know this might be totally out of charicter, but is there a chance in near oblivion that I might be able to combine enough partsfrom a A M T 32 Ford to get a near stock or for that matter stock car ? Look I enjoy looking at Street Rods but I really enjoy building Replica Stock vehicles from the Early Ford era especially since I'm a Early Ford Club Member . Ed Shaver -

MPC '53 Ford Flipnose Opinions?
Eshaver replied to hellonwheelz3's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
The Model Products 53 Ford F-100 Flip- Nose was in its day a decent kit . given the tool making that we had then. I liked te factthat the grille given the Flipnose was a " Standard " cab edition grille and that it was molded " Open " the A M T grille on te otherhand as moled as a Deluxe- Cab version and actually should havebeen given the bullit surrounds on the hood next to the " F-100 " but wernt . Im a member of the Early Ford Club and I have worked on Fords from 1932-1953 for years. Both kits have their strong points and weaknesses . Just remember that it's easier to hot rod a stocker than to try and replicate a stocker out of a "Hot Rod " Thats where you might wish to decidewhere your priorities wiil go . If you want a more Stock truck , go with the A M T . If the Street excites ya , go the M P C - A M T route and buy te Flipmose . Ed Shaver -
Since Texaco was a "Jobber" orented company, they actually used several different cabs. Gee, the Mack R, the Kenworth, hey Even a G M C Astro 95 has pulled a tank of Texaco product in it's day. I guess depending upon the manufacturer of the tank , Aluminum is always good with apperoperate signage . I dont recall polished aluminum tanks from Hiel or other major manufacturers though. Would you buy it?
Eshaver replied to Corvette.Jeff's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Jeff, as the former manager for a towing company in Dallas years ago. you're probably better off hunting down a title from someone who sells titles . Yes I did say sells titles . Look in Hemmings Motor News , they have them in the services section . The Hasle you generally get at the D P S station along with your " Bonded " title really arent woth the hassle . With a clear title on that old of a vehicle in Texas , youm can walk throught the linelike " Regular " folk . Just MAKE SURE THAT NO ONE AND I MEAN NO BODY ever wotea DEMOLITION TITLE on that ride ! I they did , you are screwed period , end of story ! The only way around that is to dissemble both rides and carry them either to Oaklahoma or Louisiania , preferibly Missisippi and reassemble them In Missisipi then in 1963, all they had were Bills of sale , no title ! I actually wound up having to do this once and it aint worth what we did to pull it off again eiter , especially no 4 door ride! If they were S S or convertables , I would agree with some of the comments Harry said . To me a Fordoor is too many doors . I don't know where in Texas you are , you mightwant to contactme at my personal E-mail at edshaver @ymail . com I know people in the Dallas Fort Wort Worth area and I probably could line you you up with the area clubs. I also kept up with a couple of salvage yard operators . Now if yer in Houston , the Cement swamp, I dare say you gonna see a rust free ride . At night , I used to watch my tools rust on my bench at night cause of the humidity ! HEY LONG LIVE KINKY FREEDMAN AN THE TEXAS JEW BOYS BAND YAHOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ed Shaver -
Jim. the compressor is WAAAAAAAAY to large ! as for te rest of the work, well done . you posess lot of hidden talent there sir ! I really like the way you presented the Chevelle Wagon , what with it' s in progress stage . Ed Shaver

Jim, I finially quit ten years ago ! I had smoked steady since I was 14 too. Today im 59. try the patch and perhaps a support group . Do tings that would prevent ypoufrom being able to have a cigarette from time to time to get the body away from the addiction . Listen I know as I was a very bad child growing up too! Ed Shaver

You know someone at the OLD A M T Company when they were in Troy back in 1964 did a similar thing for me . He actually went back through the warehouse and then took the time to write me a hand written note about not finding a 1963 Corvette convertable kit . I kept that note as well as the corespondence that Budd Anderson and I had rom a couple of years earlier too. Wish I still had that stuff today as the Hurricane in 1973 got it all . Yes Angie , we should take up a collection and buy her lunch at least ! Ed Shaver

STOLEN MODEL ALERT........
Eshaver replied to Jeff Sauber's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Jeff, I do have to agree with ya on the model aspect . Generaly it's a 1-1 . I really wish I could help but here where I am , not too many shows are model related . ewer still are even 1-1 related . You generally have to go to North Carolina from here cause here they still only build planes an tanks . I will how ever keep an eye out for the car though . Dang shame when some body has to rip someone else off................ Ed Shaver -
Well N B C I guess you still report the truth every blame once an awhile ! Besides being a shill for the Administration , Any way W were told that the New C E O from A T & T was quotedas saying he knows nothing about cars , Whew and I though he was a famous racer guy ! Hey Mr Obama , iffin ya wanna sell me a new car ,Ill be buyin a Ford as they had the class to tell Washington to keep their Phoney money ! By the way , Glen Beck radio talk show host was also quoted this morning astelling Americia that he would no longer endorse G M either ................ Ed Shaver
