  1. Nicely detailed replicas.
  2. I HAD to have this one, as Custom mercs are my all time favorite non race car. And orange is my favorite color. It's a real beauty. Til you open the hood or doors. Needs detailing. But I don't always get them back togethewr when I try to detail them. I get distracted by some other project. So mine lives in it's box. But it is displayed. If you like custom Mercs, check out the HotWheels Legends 1/24 Custom Mercury. I have the purple one with flames. The details are fabulous on that one. I have the Hirohata Danbury Mint Mercury, as well as the purple convertible Danbury mint custom. And some stock Mercuries, and asome 1/64s. And a built up Revell. You get the idea. Kustom Mercs.
  3. I have the black one. First issue. These are beautiful. I had no space to display and it sat in box for years, only coming out to admire occasionally. I eventually noticed some paint rash creeping in, so I said no more box for you. It stays out full time now, rash or no. Usually close to my 1/18 T bird from the Precision 100 release (light blue). Love this green one, though.
  4. The Maisto Chrysler wheels are pretty nice. They were both Kelsey Hayes, right? So they might be passably close other than the center caps?
  5. Crazy! 200 mph in those things? Those guys have huge stones.
  6. At the time, it was pretty heady stuff. I really needed this car with 8 lug wheels, as a friend would have bought the whole case had they had the 8 lug wheels. He had same real car, just blue.
  7. The Falfa car was common as rice over here when it came out. My shop was only place in town for the other three that came out first, then the 55 came out and WalMart had them, so I could barely sell mine. You'll find one someday.
  8. stance is perfect in last photo, to me.
  9. Ok, true about what I've seen about UK houses. I guess that's partially why 1/43 is a more popular scale worldwide? So you aren't normal? Seem normal to me and most other modelers/collectors I'm sure.
  10. Here are a few pics of my Wix Challenger set for reference.
  11. I would recommend searching ebay for WIX DIECAST or WIX 1/24, but they have a beautiful 67 GTO, 2 Cobras (gray and blue), a GT40, and set with a 1/18 2009? Challenger and a 1/24 1970 Challenger that is THE BEST 1/24 Challenger I have seen. Those are the ones I own. I think Snake has a 67 Chevelle in his collection. Pretty sure there is a 53 Vette and a 56 Tbird that are at least as good as Mint cars. the Vette looks better to me. I have not seen a T bird. I think there are other Ertl-made 1/24 cars and trucks as well. If you search ebay from UK, can you get US results? I have a search set for daily emails with WIX in them. Todays features a 1/24 69 Torino Richard Petty race Torino, which is made by Icons I think. Icons makes the Cobra and you can find reviews of it on here. There is a Terah brand 1/24 that is NOT the one I referenced above. The one you would look for is in a closed box with styro, not a window box. There is a 69 Boss 302 Mustang "race" car with ttrailer and 66 Ford F150. Have no experience with these though. And here, these sell for around $30-$50 USD. Not sure how much shipping and all to UK would be of course. I'm sure you are used to that though. Here's a Challenger set - really nice - the 1/18 is by HWY61; not sure who made the 1/24, but is dang nice. https://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-WIX-70th-Anniversary-Collector-Set-1970-2009-Dodge-HEMI-Challenger-R-T-NOS/254274976507?hash=item3b33f83afb:g:rewAAOSwdEhdEVFU. I bought mine for $50, so shop that one for a while - you can find them for good prices. If link is not allowed, please delete. Not my sale, just for informational purposes.
  12. Cool, thanks!
  13. When I had the hobby shop, I ordered a case of these from Ertl and could barely give them away. And yes, ALL of the Ertls of this era could use some detailing. They gave you basic clunky details.
  14. Crazy taillights! beautiful model.
  15. Excellent! I have the coral 57 from Danbury Mint and it is one of my favorites for the little details they were doing at that time. Wayyyyy up in the trunk of mine is a little piece that represents the trunk light. Love the color on yours. I bet these are impressive when diplayed.
  16. I have 2 of the 32 coupe - one is signed by Paul Le Mat. Back when these originally came out, he was making his living signing them at events, I think. I didn't get the autograph, but owned a hobby shop and traded for it. I've had people claim it's bogus because I don't have a photo of him signing it. Like that's not easy to forge either? But I don't care, the sig matches others I've seen and I love the movie. So I like to think Paul at least touched it at some point. LOL. Also have the other three - the '58. the '55, and the Mercury. Probably will stay with me for a long time. If I ever put the cars in clear cases, the Vespa would be excellent to have in the case with the 58 I think. Now if we just had the Edsel...
  17. This is a much better choice than the 57 that the Mint did. And M2 in 1/64. Just a better looking car I think and this is nicely done.
  18. I have a couple of the Wix 1/24s. There are some real gems in their cars.
  19. They are making huge strides in quality!
  20. Wow! I had a plastic build up and it seems that no matter the scale, these look great! This one is awesome!
  21. That's beautiful! Thanks for sharing.
  22. Excellent post and information. Thanks everyone that is contributing.
  23. Thanks. May have to look into that one just for the wheels.
  24. Thanks - I think my guy (Todd) bought a couple things from your auction recently as well. He was a good fella and we always had fun talking models and "replicas" - he hated when I called them toy cars. But most people understand "toy cars" much better than "scale auto replicas". Todd also made me pay more attention to my builds - he liked Mint cars, so I wanted to build plastics that at least looked like they belonged with his mint cars. And to everyone, pay attention to your friends. And your mentors. These three are among the guys I consider mentors. They know model stuff that most of us would never have been privvy to had they not been willing to share. Ok, I'm through being an old softie. Go build something and stay offa my lawn!
