  1. I have the final updated list of Todd's cars. I will try to send a list to those of you that requested previously. Anyone else can send me a PM and I'll send you a list. Thanks
  2. I can't drive LeMans in a game and I can't seriously imagine driving the real thing after dark at 200 mph. In the Shelby doc, there was a bit in there about AJ Foyt driving LeMans with just 10 laps of practice. OMG... I'll have to look for The 24 Hour War. And ok, I did read about the historical inaccuracies of Rush.
  3. I went through a Roth period. I built the Outlaw, Beatnik Bandit, Beatnik Bandit 2. I have built the Tweedy Pie as one of the reissues that isn't Roth correct. I have a Road Agent but think parts are lost. Also have a Mysterion in the tin that I'll probably never get too. Nice little kits and tough to build nicely. Yours look great!
  4. I have built EVERY dart kit Revell has given us. And propbably will continue. I had a 71 which has different nose and tail, but still, a DART in 1/25 has my attention. Mine were built before so much reference was available, so mine all had red engines. I'll be watching as well.
  5. More cleacoat? It looks perfect to me for a real car just as is. Just the right amount of shine.
  6. Dang that looks good!
  7. A friend sent me a note to see SHELBY AMERICAN on Netflix. So I watched that last night. Pretty good documentary if you are looking for a refresher on Carroll Shelby's history. I did learn a few things and some I knew, and some I had forgotten. But it's a good little documentary right now, with the Ford vs Ferrari movie out. My son said other than the surround in the theater, I should just wait for home viewing. He knows me pretty well. He said he didn't think it was quite as good as the Rush movie about Lauda. No big thing to me, Just keep making historical racing movies and get them closer to right than Days of Thunder, and I'll be a fan.
  8. I don't know about the Cabrio, but I have this one from Welly. It's a Todd car if you need it. It's a pretty good looking car.
  9. Wow! Living in NC, we see all kinds of things like this on the roads. Scary and fascinationg all at the same time.
  10. Nice! Don't forget that the windshield posts are chromed over. Faired over for aero on the real ones. Otherwise you're just building a tribute replica. LOL
  11. I have this one in red with white stripe and the multi colored paint swatch version. Nice little cars.
  12. Umm yeah, I can see that. I haven't used a BB or anything in bottles on teh sawzall. Haven't needed it. the action of the saw mixes the paint nicely.
  13. I saw Rush a few years back and loved it, even though there were inaccuracies. Can't be helped. Enjoy them for the entertainment. And if it gets a few new racing fans to look into the history, even better. I mean, LeMans history is way better than studying the presidents, right? Niki Lauda was an exciting character, as well. I still like Days of Thunder once in a great while. For me, remebering the real crashes they used to pass off as storyline crashes was great. I remember how NASCAR worked with the production to get real footage. Then Greg Sacks had to go win a pole in the movie car and couldn't drive for the win because of the movie deal
  14. I've been doing scribing around the chrome on most everything this year. Helps sharpen up the lines for foil and such. And scribing the panel lines. It's tedioous to do, but rewarding on the back end. Hasn't occured to me to do that on the interior and I have really been concentrating on the interiors in the past couple years.
  15. I use hose clamps to clamp bottles and cans to the blade of my reciprocating saw. It will shake a vessel of paint like nobidy's business. I've shook more paint than saw things apart probably. And you could probably put a bb in the bottle for even more agitation.
  16. I hope to have the list completed by the end of the weekend. I'm up to about 175 cars listed, whcih should be most of them. however, I havene't cataloged where they all are at my place - which container they are in and any details. Original boxes for the majority of the collection. I'll send it when I get it completed. And cars are selling already from the few ebay listings I have already posted.
  17. I am amazed at how he thought out the displays and how good he made the cars look. Even the "lowly" Welly cars look like a million bucks when lit and arranged just right. And most everything is spotless. I don't know how often he dusted, but he kept everything in top shape. Everything was in a case or closed curio, which stil can attract some dust. The cars are pretty much spotless. The big hole is late 40's through mid 60's. which is my favorite era. So we worked well together - we didn't bid against each other much when acquiring new cars. Put our stuff together and you'd have a pretty thorough diecast collection...
  18. I'm trying to be. And I do enjoy the selling part. The worst part is packing them to mail. I'm a project manager by trade, so I'm naturally drawn to a big project. And I did agree to help. I don't want his collection sold for pennies on the dollar.
  19. My FOX was quite fun WHEN IT WAS RUNNING. Which was best described as "randomly". I did kill a Nissan with it and the Fox escaped with nary a wimper. I had a parts car and we tried to use the hood as a sled. Not really workable. CV joionts were easily replaceable if you had the breaker bar to get that big nut off - I still have the socket. And a torque wrench that went to 210 ft lbs. Everyone has one of those right? I had an automatic, which means I had to buy a second transmission.
  20. You can't go to a dealer... I had a 2003 BMW K1200LT motorcycle. Dealer maintenance is terribly high. You have to be mechanically minded to own an older and leanr to do the stuff yourself. I've heard syncing the carbs is a very touchy thing - most modern mechanics would have no idea. the dealer mechanic on my bike - oil changes are around $150 and up if you just bring them the bike. When I bought ine, it was due for it's 6000 mile service. Dealer guy (old school) said for me to take off all the plastic body work, either in the lot or before I rode down. Then the oil change and computer check was only like $50. At 12K, he said change the oil myself and be done with it. To not worry about the rest of the stuff. And it all worked. A bunch of LT geeks would get together at someone's garage and divvy up the projects and work on every bike there. And the geeks know way more about the bikes than the dealer guys. I would assume same for the cars. I would imagine parts availability would be the biggest issue of owning an older car. but kinda like any older car.
  21. Here is what I have so far. At the bottom is a list of TOPS he had separated from the cars, but I think there is a car to go with each top. So if you see a car there, let me know - I will endeavour to catalog the rest of the cars this week and weekend. Make a reasonable offer on anything and we can go from there. I have no emotional attachemnt to these so I can be fair. Plus I need to get them gone. I should be able to make good deals on everything but The 68 SS396 convertible. that's a high dollar car and deserves to bring good money ($200+) I will have updated list as I add more. hopefully next update will be full list. Take a look and let me know if you have any questions. I'll be glad to answer. And keep in mind, there are still a LOT of the lower end cars I haven't added to list. I know we like the lower end stuff on here too. Some of the Aston Welly/Nex cars are very nice shelf replicas. I was amazed at how nice they look. Thanks Randy HILTONSPREADSHEET LIST.xlsx
  22. I almost bought a Bavaria back in 86. It was a good ruinner, looked good. but was a llittle high. Bought an Audi Fox instead. Soured me on Audis forever. Good luck with the project. Beautiful cars.
  23. Hey folks, My buddy Todd Hilton, recently passed away and I had agreed to help his wife move all his cars if something happened to him. So I have all of his cars at my house now... Around a 200 piece collection, from old Revell and Majorette diecasts, up the grand prize, a pristine FM 1968 Chevelle SS396 convertible with ALL the stuff. outer and inner boxes, docs, top, boot, gloves, tool. I think that will be his highest dollar piece. Quite a few Corvettes too. I asked a mod if I could do this and said I could have folks request list. I am NOT selling on this page. I would love his stuff go to other collectors like us, who will appreciate the cars. My wife already said I can't buy them all. I only have eyes on a couple - LOL. Our collections didn't overlap much which worked great. There are a LOT of nice Welly and Bburago diecasts as well in there, mostly Euro sports stuff in those. Something for every price point. I was surprised at how NICE some of the Euro cars are. There are a few plastic kits and built ups on there. Todd didn't build but was having me build them for him in exchange for cash and/or other diecasts. So... if you would like a list of the cars available, PM or email me with your email. I have an Excel sheet or could make it a PDF as well. I am not done yet. Around halfway I think and have already sold a few pieces sold. I will try to update it as possible. I'm not making anything on this deal, just covering my expenses and sending everything back to Todd's widow. I have not entered prices on the sheet yet and may not. everything is open to negotiation. Be fair guys. I don't have time to llok up hte value of every piece and part. We all know welly should be $10 - $20. the higher dollar stuff I can look up, and the Revell and Majorette - just make an offer. And feel free to spread the word. There is a Facebook page I will try to update with individual photos as I can. But there is an album with most everything shown, but not real clear. An ebay page as well. Search toddhilton on either format or I can send you a link. And I am not sure where all the pieces are yet. I have totes and boxes filled with cars. We didn't inventory, just boxed and loaded. Took 7 hours for just that. Some loose cars too. Todd kept everything in enclosed displays so nothing is more than dusty and most are like they just came out of the box. I don't know how to do international shipping unless I run it through my personal ebay page. We can do that though. His page I created is too new to allow apparently? Thanks Randy
  24. I have several 1/43s. I have the Franklin Mint "cars of the 60s", 12 cars. A set of Matchbox 50s and 60s cars, several things I picked up here and there. And the first replica that is dead nuts accurate for a car I actually own - first one in my life - a 2007 Ford Edge. From a Bond Movie - it was black, I replainted it orange pearl with tan interior. And it is as identical as you could hope for. Even the shift leve is accurate in shape and even has the little O/D lockout button the side. I have seen the cars the OP has, but never bought them. Kinda glad now.
  25. Do they have a Dodge bucket truck? One of my subs has an Altec on a dodge chassis.
