  1. That's pretty sharp. Mine had big and little keystone Klassics at one point but needed them for a replica of my uncle's real 66 Impala. I really like that blue! Makes me want to do it again.
  2. I listed it on eBay at 6pm and it sold in 35 minutes for full asking price which wasn't much, but more than I had an hour ago. Wow. Yes the clear had yellowed some over time but it also had more Pearl than the engine compartment. Thanks for the compliments. I really liked that one but didn't have it displayed so may as well sell it on.
  3. Old build from the original issue. Has upholstery decals from Scale Motorsports. Otherwise straight from the box.
  4. Built from the original issue of this kit. It's had a couple of wheel changes over the years. I am pretty sure these are from the Trumpeter Bonneville. This is one of my favorite builds.

    Mirrors

Molotow? I can't really see what your photo is showing. Could be the way I'm seeing it though? Yellow part is a mirror and green is a clamp holding it? I feel kinda dumb for not being able to see it right.
  6. I have that decal sheet for upholstery and never used it. looking forward to seeing it used. Maybe I can find a build for it myself. Just never tried too hard.
  7. I remember cereal premiums. One of them was like a 69 Mustang or something. I cherished that car enough to remember something about it now. And wanting to get all four colors. And having to either dive an arm in the box or dump it all in to a big bowl to get the car as soon as we got home with the cereal. I was fine with the arm. Adults were not as keen on that idea.
  8. Hard to tell. THe photographers could have pushed the color around to give it more pop? IDK. You know more about it than I do. It looks darker in a Hemmings article from 2010.
  9. I bet most of us here of started with little diecasts. I had tootsie Toys too - the diecast bodies, no chassis, metal axles holding plastic wheels.
  10. Bill, I just got an email with this link and thought it might be of use to you, if (when?) this one ever comes back. https://www.hotrod.com/articles/rare-survivor-1968-shelby-gt500-prototype/?wc_mid=4035:17886&wc_rid=4035:1745012&_wcsid=4D28900AA70210B5ABA32727DA6C69B9ECE5A5FC2FB015AF#005-shelby-gt500-1968-mustang-cobra-jet-428-green-hornet
  11. Could that be combined wiith a Revell for a reasonably nice replica? Front off the the 48 and rest from the 41?
  12. I have 3 BMW 3.0 racers in my office and one at home. 2 BMW 2002s on my desk, too. They do those pretty nice. I have a bunch of flamed cars displayed on a lilttle shelf over the toilet in the bathroom at home. Gives guys something to look at...
  13. I have been a HW collector off and on all my life. Lately though, it is Auto World, Johnny Lightning, and the like. the more realistically detailed cars. M2s are nice as well. HW is just a little too cartoonish for my tastes, plus they are hot rods mostly, the exact thing that makes them so fun. At this point, I like realism over fantasy hot rods, so the other brands are my preference. But I can easily put my paws on around 1000 HW at home. And around 40 in my office. They are very easy to collect.
  14. 3.0 coupes are beautiful for sure. I had a friend who collected them and 2002s at one point. He had a BUNCH of coupes and several 2002s, totalling 27 cars at one point. I helped him keep them going and clean when I was a young buck looking for a buck. tom had serial number 00019 at one point - green car with saddle interior. Brought over from italy. He had about every variation made at some point. I got to drive a lot of them. Only one I remember he wouldn't let me drive was the silver 2002 Turbo brought over from europe. That was also the only one that lived inside. Others rotated around to garages and under covers or sheds. Have no idea where they all went. Nice score on the diecasts. Roof line looks tallish, but what the hey. Not a lot of those around.
  15. love the roof rack!
  16. My thought as well. But if I forget... it happens...
  17. You have more stuff than MOST hobby shops. Nice. And my "stash" is everywhere. Under my desk at work, in two buildings at home and scattered about in them. I divorced 5 years ago and still keep finding and re-finding stuff I forgot I have.
  18. That is an intereting car. I have the 70 - just needed the wire wheel covers. May not ever build. Not a lot of differences are there? (Just looked - yes there are some major differences in the grille). the 69 is much better looking. For a detailed chassis, could one use the 67 Impala?
  19. I read the thread (can't remember seeing it) and searched the term "freeze". Question is, will this stuff freeze? I do my work in unheated outdoor building. If I leave it there, will it freeze? I can bring it in, just need to make sure I do so. I bring everything water-based in during the winter, so not a big deal unless I forget it. This is my first try with this stuff. Actually may be second try - seems like first try when it was still "Future" didn't work for me.
  20. I went to the little Duro metal tubes from WalMart. I was using Loctite for what $4 or 45 per bottle and it always went bad before I could use it. Those little tubes come in a 4 pack and I actually use them up. Tube has the little metal cover on it until you puncture it with the nozzle. Only issue I've had was didn't get nozzle screwed down all the way once and it leaked some. And I swear it's better than any name brand I've ever used. Sticks and doesn't fog as much for me. Heck I've been installing windshields with it. I often put a drop or two on one of the plastic parts bags (I save them all for various uses) and use a pick to apply even more precisely. I have had lots of incidents with the bottles. Tubes seem to be better for me all the way around.
  21. Could you poke the wires all the way through the mold before casting and have the distributor wired when it comes out of the mold? I gave up wiring engines a while back. Occurs to me that my models never leave the house and people that see my cars may not even know what a plug wire is. And I rarely marvel over the engine after I build the kit. I do have a few prewireds that I bought years ago. Just in case. One thought I have is to make sure you have a reasonably good set of bits though. I have *most* of a set of Kona bits that work well. I bought a $5 set on ebay. The points are useless on those. they walk, they don't drill. Basically can be used to clear out holes that already exist. Interesting tutorial though
  22. What abou the Revell Harley truck or a variant? Don't see much of the Harley version - may be rare? Would be a nice reissue I would think...
  23. Nice cars. looking forward to reading more about them. Got the issue other day and have not had a chance to do more than flip through.
  24. Helped a buddy prep a couple derby cars back in the late 80s. We had a 69 Electra and a 67 Ford Country Squire. WE were severely outclassed by the "pros" Got 2 derbies out of each of them. The Electra frame broke over the rear axle in the second derby. You could lift the whole rear of the body like it was on a hinge. lol. You captured the damage nicely. Fun stuff.
