Thanks everyone! The kit is a great kit, as is the Corvette kit. I`ve been searching through my pics, and I have alot of interior and engine pics of all my 1/12 scale builds. I`ve been debating this, but maybe I will just put them all in one thread? I know there are a few here that I`ve never posted on this board.

1/12 Scale 1967 Corvette Coupe (Monogram) (COMPLETE!)

Sounds really interesting. I am looking forward to seeing pics. I built one of these in green a looooong time ago, but I guess mine was incorrect cause I used the black seats with the white stripes. The only suggestion I would have would be to consider using the rims from the Camaro kit. Let me know if you have any questions. I have built over 10 of these over the past 20 years, and have a couple more kits to be built. -

Very nice! Love the blue color and the Monte/Camaro wheels. -
Thanks Ron. If you happen to need the t-top panels, I doubt I will use them and would gladly mail them to you. I am laughing at some of the details on this kit (very spartan!). It has real rubber hoses and tires which are nice, but then the molded the whole interior bucket, center console, door panels, and seats as 1 piece!! And the engine doesn`t even have a distributor! We have come such a long way over the years. You saw my orginal post about how I found this kit at a local hobby store? It was right down your way, in Hunt Valley Md. I just couldn`t believe it when I saw it. The last time I saw one on the shelves was back in like `85 or `86 or something like that.

Very nice!! And nice color choices!

Ok guys...here is where I am going with this one. This will be one of the Alpha-Omega cars. This will be the Alpha one, the first one built in the Bowling Green Kentucky plant. I had a really hard time matching the Dark Bronze color, and it is a little more brown than I like. In the sunlight, it does have slightly more red tint to it than in this pic.

Thanks guys. Just meant everyone`s builds here are just off the chain! Great work!! From memory, that was Mica Red followed by several coats of Duplicolor Red Metalcast, and about 5 coats of Duplicolor clear.

Wow. Really nice ones in this thread...I`m hesitant to post mine. But here it is. Very mild custom (only changed the wheels and exhaust).

It`s the Revell kit. I was very pleased with it. In fact, it has much better detail than the 1/8 kit I am currently working on.
-
Sorry this is taking so long guys. I am working on this, but the paint is taking much longer than expected. I think I picked the most complex color scheme available for this year.

Thanks everyone! The color is Testors Custom Lacquer Series Phoenician Yellow. It was the exact shade I was looking for. Ohh...and the wheels are the Keystone Classics from the 68 Charger kit.

`70 Chevelle Pro Street, 80`s style - another quickie

Thanks everyone! I have to say also, that the body on this kit has much better proportions than the glue kit. -
`70 Chevelle Pro Street, 80`s style - another quickie

Thanks guys. I have to comment on the paint. I used Tamiya chrome yellow on this, and it covered very nicely! In fact, I sprayed it right over the bright green bare plastic without any primer or sealer. It also rubbed out very easily. No clear coat on this one. -
I wanted to do something with the `70 Chevelle kit I had sitting around as well, and decided to go pro street with it. I built this as a curbside, so no engine pics. Again, I think this one took less than two weeks....lightning fast for me. Wheels are my first attempt at resin casting, using masters from the `66 Malibu kit. The blower is from the Challenger kit, which is a little cartoonish in it`s size. Chassis is from the `67 Chevelle pro street kit. I wanted to build this up as a pro street Chevelle you might have seen around the time I was a kid. This is the type of thing I remember seeing in the magazines.

I got tired of seeing this kit just sitting on the shelf, and I don`t have any GTOs to display, so I thought I would whip this one together quick while waiting to finish my main projects. This took me a total of about two weeks to complete, which is lightning fast for me. I actually "finished" this over a month ago, but I still haven`t had time to put the emblems on. That`s why you don`t see any emblems yet. I had a little trouble on the front bumper which you can see in the pics, but other than that, it was a terrific kit. In her home with the rest:

That is a deep green! Nice work! Do you have any compatibility issues using the HOK over the Testors?
-
That looks great. Excellent color choices, IMO.

Monogram 1/12 `67 Corvette....not sure how many I built, but it is in at least the `teens now Monogram 1/12 `69 Camaro....almost as many as the Corvette Revell/Monogram 3rd gen Trans Ams... cant think of how many I built of these when these were original issues, but I know I built alot of them, I`ve also owned more than a few 1:1`s.

We`ll see how this goes. I am determined to complete *something* this year. And I am tired of seeing all my 1/8 kits just sitting around collecting dust. I guess how often I post updates will be based on interest, but they will probably be a little sporadic as my schedule is pretty crazy. Anyway, I will be combining the `78 and `82 kits to make it an `81. I had been looking for the `82 kit for a little while online, and low and behold, I walk into my LHS the other day, and someone had just brought back to the store an original *sealed* kit from when it was originally sold in the store back in the 80`s! I couldn`t believe it when I saw it there on the shelf. The `78 I had lying around for a while, and I am hoping to build that one as the pace car. Mainly I will be using the engine, interior, and wheels from the `78, and everything else from the `82. This will be a replica of a very specific Corvette from `81 that I thought was pretty significant. I won`t reveal that just yet though. But this will be similar to my 1/12 builds....factory stock, like it would look on the showroom floor.

After 30+ years of building, I tend not to read instructions too much any more. Yeah, I know, probably foolish. Honestly though, I`ve been using these paints back since the green Camaro almost a decade ago, and this is the first time I had problems. I`d be interested in your results once you get the clear on. Maybe I will try spraying the hood with clear and see what happens.
-
Thanks for all the input guys....lots of good points. I dont think the problem is the lack of clear coat. I`ve never had trouble with this line before (and I`ve used *lots* of them), and I have two Corvettes in Classic White and Daytona Yellow right next to it which are plenty dry and polishable. I am using a mix of warm water and dish detergent for cleaning. But Kenny gave me a thought....so a food dehydrator dries paint 2x faster for every 10º above ambient temperature correct? Does this work in reverse? For the past week and a half, temps have been around 100º-105º around here because of the heat wave. I always bring my cars inside to dry, where it`s been 30º-35º cooler than outside temps. Could it be slowing down the drying times that much?

This is the first time I tried this, spraying this stuff over bare plastic. This is on the Revell `66 GTO kit. I lightly sanded and washed the body, and then sprayed with 4 coats of the Phoenician Yellow. I have let it dry for about 2 weeks now, and I still cant use any compound on the body without it smearing. Has anyone had trouble with this?
