Started this one a while back. Since all that was left was pretty much paint I decided to try and finish it up. Scratchbuilt exhaust from aluminum tube. I know it's not perfect, but not bad for my first try.

Chevy C1500 stepside custom
JamesW replied to JamesW's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Here's a quick tutorial for the grille/headlights. I completely hollowed out the grille. Dechromed and painted. Then used a piece of sheet plastic as the backing. Drilled holes and used aluminum tube for the lights. Used some glue inside the tubes, then painted them, Blue for the headlights and amber for the marker/turn signals. If I had taken a little more time I would have used pins and painted the pin heads to represent bulbs. Then used clear sheet plastic for the lenses. Nick, the grille is from Model Car Garage. http://stores.scaledreams.com/-strse-Model-Car-Garage-cln-Grilles/Categories.bok -

Thanks guys. It was a pretty quick build for me, about 6 weeks. I've got a sister planned for her, another stepside, but in Graphite Dust with Pegasus T's. -

I actually mocked mine up on 1109's before I decided to use the T's. I'm considering pickin up another one to build as a lowrider.

Got this today. $14.20 shipped, and it cost the dude $13.85 to ship it. He made a whole 35 cents on it. Guess that's just how Ebay goes. Now maybe I can finish the F-250 I started last year.

Tower Hobbies is pretty good too. I put in my preorder for a Prostar and 2 Great Danes. -
What about dust? With the fans pulling in air wouldn't they pull in dust as well?

You ever see Young kids buy models,
JamesW replied to rel14's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I'm not a young kid, but since Jan 1st I've spent probably $1500-$2000 on the hobby. -
Iwould wrap it in tissue paper THEN bubble wrap. Put it in a box of equivilent size, then dead center of a larger box surrounded by peanuts.
-
Bubble wrap and LOTS of peanuts.
