  1. thats my wifes reply everytime i ask her to buy me something way out there. we'll be driving down the road and get passed by a 71 superbee and ill tell her "honey you oughta get me one of them" she always replies "i'll get you two baby" hasnt happened yet
  2. i actually the sublety of the weathering it looks dead on to me found on road dead that is
  3. here is the start to my entry it looks like i have ll the parts sorted keystone classics from the kit to represent the 5 spokes tires from the parts box to beefen up the rear a rear spoiler from a grand prix stock car and the kit supplied hemi (with a partsbox aircleaner that is similar to the kit version, but chrome) looks like the only part i still need to figure out is the pipes, the hotwheels has pipes molded into the chassis that exit right before the rear wheels (very similar to what i did on roscoes cruiser) i put together all the parts of the hemi that get the same paint and i started putting the body together the main "issue" will be figuring out how to do the paint scheme....do i try to paint the sides red first, then tape of the trim and paint it charcoal or do i paint the whole thing and try to trim the yellow out of the kits decal and put the remaining red line on ?
  4. your going to have to stretch that body a little for it to fit that frame nice progress i like the orange, looks like it laid down nicely also looking forward to see how your wood comes out, i've never heard of this particular technique before
  5. it looks good i still think you could have done a better job at sanding the nose but that has been adressed what really impresses me is the exhaust system, i know it is molded to the frame but it is painted well enough to where it looks to be a seperate unit nice build
  6. brett, i remember seeing this baby when you first build it i looked all over for it to put up as a great example but i couldnt find it thanks for posting it (ill post a bad example myself later )
  7. i have a few of the 68-69 chargers in my stash (the 68 with the blue car on the box also has the same body as the dick landy and would work aswell for the general) but the door panels on those look more like the right ones for the GTX then like the extra (ill shoot some pics tonight) it almost looks like they belong in a canoe, the way the back end curves in
  8. after hearing how i wetsand my models that shouldnt surprise you
  9. if the lindberg dodge A-100 (little red wagon) coca cola repop is a hint, then yes that kit has all the parts (minus the decal sheet) to make the little redwagon INCLUDING the 392 firedome hemi with hilborn injection and subframe (i have one waiting to be build into a one off ground up ride) also, check the bottom of the box, a lot of the repops have drawings of the trees on there
  10. you know what, i heard a preacher on the radio (think it may have been David Jeremiah) make the following statement which i think applies here.... "if you are meant to be hung you will never drown"
  11. funny thing about that GTX it came with 2 sets of door panels BOTH of which had the right numbers (as listed in the instructions) i checked the tree the wrong set is on (its pretty clear these would not work with a back seat) and found that there are 3 parts on that tree that are nowhere else in the kit and have the right numbers on them there are also 2 wheel backs that have the WRONG numbers and 2 pieces i am not even sure what they are that do not show up in the instructions at all any thoughts ?
  12. just a pet peeve of mine a guess i wouldnt wanna glue the hood shut either (odly enough i dont bother opening the trunk or doors)
  13. one of the first things i do when i get a new kit is open it up and read the directions, just to see what is all in the kit why, i just got the revell 67 GTX and it was nothing like i expected when i first got back into modeling (some 10 years ago) this kit (with the tom daniels boxart) was on the shelves and i have always expected it to be an older kit with outdated tooling and classic MPC detailing (read none) i liked the kit and wanted it but never really got myself to buy it because of the preconcieved notions i had on this kit well, yesterday i finally bit the bullet i am building a 67 GtX for the hotwheels in 1/25th scale community build and this was the perfect excuse to buy this kit well, a quick glance at the instrutions showed me how wrong i was about this kit, here's a small list of parts in this kit i was surprised to see a dome light an alternator WITH A BRACKET a steering box a set of chromed doorhandles and the decal sheet is great too, it even has the white letter decals for the tires on it
  14. would it still turn though or does this make it a static wheel ? i really dont like building models with wheels that dont turn thats one of the great things on the old MPC kit, that solid rear axle will take just about any wheel you can find
  15. you know, that brought something to mind with gas over 4 dollars a gallon, milk at almost 3 and styrene kits at 25 it just occured to me that walmart still sells hotwheels at 97 cents 97 cents....you cant even gat 4 qaurters for that anymore its like time stood still
  16. not only is my wife very supportive (as long as the bills are i paid i get pretty free range) but she is also partially responsible for me getting back into models when we first met i spend a lot of time alone at her parents house because she worked and i had no where else to go getting bored with doing nothing we wandered around walmart one day and i saw the model cars they used to sell i told her how i used to build those as a kid and she encouraged me to pick it up again here we are 10 years later and i wonder is she regrets saying that of course, it doesnt hurt to grease the wheels a bit, i ask her opinions (knowing that once i ask i will take her advice weather i like it or not) on paint, wheels, spoilers and what not and every once in a while i include her in my designs without her even knowing it
  17. why not just use some rolling stock from a 1/20, 1/18 or 1/16 scale car ? it will have much better proportions and you actually get a tire instead of the deathtrap rubber bands that would be on real 26ers
  18. if you buy prewired they come with booth material if your building you own just find a larger gauge wire then the plugs and strip that wire then you can use the insulation as booths
  19. allright guys, i picked up my model kit today, its revells 67 GTX 2n1 as soon as my son falls asleep i can actually have a look at the kit to consider what parts ill be using but it looks like it comes with a nice set of keystones that will do good in representing the 5 spokers hotwheels like to roll on when the wifey comes home i can take some pictures
  20. im just having fun with you but just for the record this is the engine that belongs in a R-32
  21. now THAT would be a disgrace i'd sooner put a 1.8T in there then a nissan engine
  22. great news....not get to building on that ferrari
  23. that is a good looking dune buggy looking forward to seeing it build
